Cantate

This came as a BIG surprise to me: Yves Rocher has discontinued one of their best creations and threw all their energy on a dull series of mediocre scents like Flowerparty and the likes, why-I cannot fathom, especially because there's not so many clearly defined winter scents in their portfolio (besides the obvious one-dimentional Vanilla and Amber). Cantate is a strictly cold weather/season perfume with so much softness and cosyness in it, that it's the 1st thing I need to put on in the morning, when the temperature is persistently refusing to crawl over the zero mark. The scent is very intense, even as an EDT, must be used with caution, and the good news is - it stays forever, on clothes as well as on skin/hair, I can sniff it on me all day and feel incredibly cheered up by it. By no way this can be unisex: it's a distinct womanly scent with 4 prominent notes that sound (for me) through the day: Rose, Vanilla, Iris and Cedarwood: so spot on was the comment about the aroma of rum-soaked cigars lingering somewhere in there! The initial opening can be a punch in the chest, as this perfume is very full-bodied, but the drydown follows quickly, and it's heavenly. It prompts me to recall of my life-long dreams to own a historic mansion that would have a huge library sitting on the oakwood shelves, old rugs on the floor. time-beaten leather chairs, a fresh pot of steaming tea and a huuuuuge floor-to-ceiling window overlooking a snow-dressed garden ( needless to say, an xxL Xmas tree is also very much in the picture! :) ). The scent is rather for an age starting in late 20s and onwards: it's waaay to pompous for a 19 year old imho. The bottle itself is the only downside: it looks cheap. At a distance - perhaps OK, but at a close look it could be something from the children's toys department. The colour though is very well appropriate: the exact shade of red one would associate with this fragrance. Hunting for a pure perfume bottle ( I am a fan of concentrates ) and also considering swiping all the existing offers off the german ebay: can't bear the thought of it vanishing completely out of my perfumery treasure chest!!

Cantate used to be my favourite fragrance in my early twens. I must have used more than 20 bottles of all sizes, EdT, EdP, spray, dab-on... I also had lots of bottles of the shower gel and the body lotion. I used it all the time. Day, night, summer, winter, uni, meeting friends, working... I remember how I felt when I realized it was discontinued. Instead of chasing the last few bottles in the country, I searched for a different signature scent. Yes, I did find a scent that I truly loved but that one was discontinued as well so I was unlucky again. I still have a bottle of the 30ml dab-on EdP and I will hold on to it. I do not use it, I just smell it and remember how much I loved bathing in Cantate. If I had the money, I would buy the recipe and bring it back on the market for everyone to enjoy.

another beautiful sadly discontinued deep rich gourmandy rose. i'll be honest, i thought yves rocher was another cheap online cheap makeup/beauty site like avon/mary kay etc. it wasn't until the women in my family (aunt, cousin, grandma) opened up a pacakge in front of me a few years ago and i smelled yet another foolishly axed gem rose absolue that i changed my tune. cantante and rose absolue are both very similar to me. they are warm, womanly, full bodied sexy cinammon rose perfumes. i was actually able to acqiure my grandmas nearly full bottle of cantante with the exchange of my beauitful shalimar edp lol. my grams is generous but not silly! an absolute must try for true rose lovers.

I just bought a huge bottle ETD 75 ml Cantata and it is GREAT, incredibly strong and longlasting, the price is a joke, 6 pounds...I consider myself one LUCKY girl, thank you Action for the miniature present, who knew such a gem existed...happy happy,I am on a caramel cloud:))...la la la... For me this is a gourmand fragrance, fruity spicy, caramel is detectable mostly from middle till end, osmanthus cinammon and spice yeh, these are the notes exactly what it smells like, such a happy perfume this is, suits night and day when you want to feel on top of the world!!!

The compote was brewed from amber-iris oriental with the help of iso e super, so the sound of the perfume is fluffy, not heavy. There is a bright red sweetness here, because if the compote is sweet and spicy, then it is necessarily red, like a brothel lantern. Then marzipan tonka bean is added with other spices, and the result is dark lacquered furniture with chocolate drunken cherries.This perfume creates a very cozy sound, feminine and bright. I wish the flowers of that red azalea that I suddenly came across in the pine forest smelled like this.

I was gifted a small, old tin of the solid perfume about 10 years ago, and I still have half of it. I kept some of the product because I love just opening the tin and sniffing the perfume. If Yves Rocher brought this back into production, I would probably buy a lifetime supply because I don't think I have ever smelled anything as good as this in my life. It's a very warm, powdery oriental that makes me so very happy. It seems I was born a little too late to enjoy the wonderful Yves Rocher classics from the past few decades.

Wow. Dense, overdosed realistic cinnamon vanilla/rose. Layered and rich, the Parfum version is well worth seeking out. This is a secret weapon to bring more depth to modern compositions. I layer with JPG La Belle- spray La Belle as you normally would, but add one drop, or top with one spray of Cantate- and we’re talking Whole. Other. Level. Beautiful on its own, it takes just a minute to warm up. It feels like a luxury to wear, and what other reason is there to indulge in fragrance, but to elevate our senses?

Beautiful lightly spiced silky peachy rose with supporting florals on a woody base. More floral than sweet, as it’s a 90ies release, considerably less sweet than their later Rose Absolue which I adore, too. Vintage YR quality is unbeatable and this is no exception. No powerhouse, but absolutely not fleeting either. I own the Parfum version which is slightly more dense and jammy compared to the EDT of which I have a mini, but the easier-to-find EDT is still worth hunting down. The best is the Parfum, though.

What makes this perfume so interesting, is that it is a bit ahead it's time. It makes a combination of notes that is quite daring. There are gourmand notes (Caramel) in combination with Spices like Cinnamon and on top of that some traditional chocolate with the Tonkabean. And still the perfume is not a typical gourmand, it is masterpiece blend for the lovers of sweet, without being a standard gourmand! Action

I have had my bottle sitting around for a number of years, and sort of re-discovered it lately. I quite like it, although I don't get the florals much - mostly the cinnamon comes through for me. It is a fairly strong scent, so I like to use a light touch when using it. It is really a pity that Yves Rocher has discontinued it, along with so many other fabulous scents (like Shafali, Ispahan, Orchidee, etc.).

Oh, what a wonderfully warm and sweet fragrance! Luxurious and interesting - like the most of Yves Rocher fragrances. Over and over again I'm finding out that cedar, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka and cinnamon are my favourite ingredients :-) Years ago I had only a miniature of this... I couldn't afford the big bottle :-( And I missed the time - Cantate is no longer available.

Gone but not forgotten! I had this tiny exquisite little red bottle on my shelf for ages; the scent is great for evenings when you cannot be bothered to re-apply; its character shifts continually from a creamy layer of jasmine and the vanilla comes up quite nicely on my skin. Yves Rocher were nuts to discontinue it!

What a perfume, what a perfume!! Today my vintage bodylotion of Cantate arrived! Oh I do love love love the vintage body lotions original!! It is better than making them myself, but they are so hard to get!! Took me AGES to find one bottle of lotion!

I loved that smell but on me it was too heavy and sweet. I was around 20 that time. But now, years later still remembering this unusual combination I think now I would be my favourite fragrance.

Notes Cantate: Alternative spelling ' Cantanta'. An edt with top notes of rose, jasmine and iris, heart notes of osmanthus, cinnamon and nectarine on base notes of cedar, sandalwood and caramel.

I had this back in the day. It was one of the best fragrances I have ever owned. I miss it so much! I had the balm version. It was sweet, spicy, and floral, and it lasted a long time on me.

rose, spice, tonka, sandalwood but the top is fruity almost like vintage peach that must be the osmanthus; very pretty vintage floriental

It smell wonderful and soft and graceful it's like it cuddle you in a sophisticated aroma. If you have the chance to find one get it!
