Black Opium Eau de Toilette (2018)

I was looking for a warm, sweet scent for winter season and was almost ready to buy Bonbon by Victor & Rolf... but went through the store and tried this and wow, It's so great. You can tell it's the same family as edp, but this version is much softer, cozier and well-blended to my taste. While I wasn't a fan of an in-your-face coffee note in edp, this one has a nice coffee bean undertone, which makes the composition warm and silky. The gourmand sweet notes are like a frosting over fruity-florals. Very intimate somehow, the scent simply blends into the skin without the artificial dry down that used to be the main thing I disliked about the edp. To me, it has the perfect balance of sweetness, warmth and if cashmere had a scent, I would definitely say this would be the one. Stays on perfectly. I am glad I got myself a bottle. Definitely worth a try!

Obviously the sweetest Black Opium but not the worst at all. It smells like a Williams Pear, Columbian Coffee and Fresh Jasmine fragrance. Ideal for autumn/winter days even if it is more of a night time perfume to me. It’s a good effortless but awesome date night scent. But a date night with a person you’re dating since forever now (in a good way ofc) I do smell a bit of bergamot and lemon, as well as the Orange blossom but just a tad bit. I mainly smell the Pear, Coffee, Jasmine and Bergamot !! It is so sad that I finished the bottle last October, I miss it but the price isn’t appealing my credit card... Overall an 8/10

I love this fragrance! I meant to buy the EDP but mistakenly chose the EDT but I still love it! I’m a huge fan of bergamot so I’m not surprised I love this. I don’t usually like citrusy clean scents, so usually the citrus in this would deter me a bit as I would be afraid it would be cleaner and fresher than I prefer, but it’s sooo lovely! It’s still very much a warm and sweet scent but the citrus makes it a bit lighter and easier to wear year round. Still want the EDP and the Extreme versions, but this is a great option for a warmer day!

I really like the original Black Opium, but I think that I enjoy this version more; it keeps a lot of the same scent notes, but swaps the vanilla and pepper for citrus and pear. I think that this freshly-sweet twist does give the fragrance a sense of energizing 'glow' and fizzyness'. The floral notes seem airier too. Despite going from an edp down to a edt, the sillage and longevity are still impressive - still a last-all-day fragrance, that radiates a foot or so.

I'm wearing it right now, and I really like this... I expected not to like it at all, as I hate the original. I can still smell some of it in this, after all it's the EDT version of it. But I don't know... for me it's the lemon who saves it, it elevastes this perfume from the bitterness of the EDP.

love it!, it stays really well in humid warm environment. sillage is super long. next i wanna try the edp, for the coffee and vanilla which also i luv.

The citrus and floral stands out on my skin the most. Don't get any type of coffee whatsoever. Still really like this scent.

I first tried this on a trip abroad with my husband, when the wheather was really cold. The projection was amazing, I could smell it while I was moving my hands around. I will say that I liked it, however I could smell something sharp, which at first I found a bit offputting, but later on kind of intriguing. My husband loved it, so he gave it to me as a present when we returned home. I' m not sure what happened here, but it's like a different perfume! I made sure to try the edt at all times, the wheather here is far warmer, it's still automn of course, but shouldn't it project even more in warmer wheather? Well, here I can not smell that "sharp" note which made it different. I can smell a very nice clean scent but nothing special, which can be worn both day and night. The projection and longevity are unfortunately not good at all, I sprayed about 4 times on my neck and chest and 10 minutes later my husband had to bury his face in my neck to be able to smell something. Since it is rather on the expensive side, I would not recommend so far. Since I got the 90ml bottle, I decided to save it for the summer, hoping the heat will enhance the projection. I will make sure to update you again :)

It’s not that bad. Don’t be so harsh on this. EDP Black Opium is probably the most generic great smelling mass appealing fragrance by now it does no harm to anyone. I find the EDT refreshing and great for after the shower wear and night time. Wore it before bed and woke up to the most sultry scent of the drydown. Wore it during the day (southeast asian weather) and it just won’t project. EDT is probably a more intimate and less humid surrounding appropriate but it still smells better than most perfumes out there.

All I can seem to find at Sephora is the old edt. Update the new one smells dank to me. I much prefer the old one

I’ve never been in love with this fragrance but my partner liked this smell. I have a feeling it’s a smell that men love to smell on women rather than a smell that women love to smell themselves. I find it less sophisticated and more of a common scent.

Decided to sniff the EDT version of Black Opium. So much advertised everywhere competing with Poison Girl unexpected. A soft, warm, slightly green, oily, almond. Much sheerer than Black Opium and quieter, lasted at around three hours. A vague floralcy, very subdued. An interesting low key fragrance. What I smell is almost niche. But what I smell cannot be possibly right. Oil. Only oil. Like olive oil. Like almond oil. Almond oil. Because: coffee, lemon, bergamot, pear, jasmine, orange blossom, cedar, patch, musk,blackcurrant accord and all the rest descriptions of it: energizing, fizzy, bright, heady floral etc are nowhere to be smelled. Not that the scent of almond oil is not pleasant, but I just doubt that YSL were going for almond oil. Severe case of distortive anosmia

This is a citrusy and greener version of the EDP with less coffee and no vanilla. I don't really like it. I prefer the warm, sweet creaminess of the original.

Ok i know it i be bad with this cute parfum... So i write my opinion again...♡ I didn't remember it being so sweet when i bought it last year it felt very ripe and thick, a fully ripe smoky scent until my nose changed and after experimenting with strong fragrances I think I finally found the aroma of this perfume smells like pear with sugar, literally sweet pear with hints of juicy lemon and a bit of caramel like a cool sherbet being warm at the same time I remember smelling this when I was a kid, but I don't know where. what i like about black opium is that it changes whenever it wants I feel that the change of residence that I made also altered my fragrances a bit warmer, more adorable, easier to carry I think I will give it more opportunities because I had it saved... This smell remember me a litle my old fantasy or live irresistible..maybe ♡

The Original Black Opium is a very sweet fragrance with a very strong note of coffee. It is a wonderful scent, however it can be a little "heavy" for every day. The previous Black Opium EDT was quite nice but had no lasting power. This one, however, is fantastic!! It still has DNA of the original EDP but it is lighter, fresher and very suitable for all day, every day, all seasons in my opinion. They have added the patchouli into this version of the EDT so it is now long lasting and when I wear it, it has moderate projection. My tip would be to spray it into freshly washed and dried hair. Smells AMAZING and lingers all day and night.

If anyone knows why they removed the original edt and put this one, I would love for you to tell me 😪.... the new glowing leaves aside the sweetness of the pear and the red fruits:"c to give way to a citrus aroma, powerful, strong, much more mature and to a certain extent smoky... I dont love it but I dont dislike it either I just had the opportunity to try the old edt from 2015 and I loved it so much that I went to the store but unfortunately they dont sell it anymore :"cc if you like a citrus aroma of black opium buy this, if you want something sweet and calm, its the edp

@Seattledweller A number of questionable things sell, but if you want this argument to be a testament to your lack of critical thinking then that is your decision. Aside from this, the original toilette already had a certain sparkliness and a somewhat more of a roughness, which is why I liked it as far as I could tell from the sample sprayer. That this choice is being replaced with something that reportedly is not the same and thus is taken away is an annoyance.

Its disappointing. Although its my mistake to have checked if I was getting a EDP or EDT. I will be buying EDP and give a chance to Black Opium because I have heard so much about this perfume. As for this, EDT version, its okay. One can pass. Nothing special. I like heavier perfumes, which at least I can smell on myself, after spraying. But it just gets lost.

You can "seriously" all you want Bruno57, but they make them because they sell. YSL claim this release to be "THE FIRST fizzing coffee floral ever imagined for a fragrance." ....and my girlfriend already wants it.

There’s pear in the original EDT as well, it’s nothing new. This one is just more citrusy. The dry down is nice and different from the original, you can smell the pear and coffee this time.

I think the original edt is being discontinued as I’ve seen it on clearance in places like Boots. It said clearance on the ticket, not sale.
