Exquisite Embroidery

This is high quality stuff and i just blind tested it at home 20 seconds ago! This is in the same quality as Tuxedo. This is YSL's answer to Montale 'Intense Cafe' + MFK's 'Oud Satin Mood', but done using high-quality ingredients!! :D A blast of delicious sweet pink rose, with the elegance of airy ambergris. The Patchouli then comes into play and for someone that does not like Patchouli, this is god damn BEAUTIFUL mixed with this note combo!! At the back of your nose you get hit by a brown spice like Nutmeg, and a brown musk that is ever so balanced added. There is something extremely addictive in this where you want to keep going for whiffs!! I actually think it might be the Oud they are using for this frag alone. This is also very strong, 4 hours min. on skin im predicting on 4 sprays! 100% shared unisex, 100% signature scent worthy! Leans toward the fem side of the spectrum. This is why i test everything, because i would have never discovered this gem as nobody knows about it. Love it! 4.5/5 Woofs!

This smells incredibly like MFK's Oud Satin Mood (EDP, not the extrait), but perhaps a touch heavier, yet quieter. Truly, there is not much difference other than this stays closer, and doesn't "reach out and touch someone" from across the room - which, I personally don't want or need my fragrances to do. The difference I get with Exquisite Embroidery is in the far-dry-down, where faint suede notes emerge before the fragrance disappears entirely. At the cheaper price point, there's no reason to get a backup bottle of OSM when this will suffice at half the cost. ::chef's kiss:: Beautiful!!!

YSL is doing a really good job lately with those prive-niche lines of perfumes, of high prices but limited availability. I fell in love with Exquisite Embroidery. This is really nice and interesting. Opens with lots of roses and then settles down to nutmeg with hints of musc and patchouli. I am not sure if I would say that this is a rose perfume because the dry down leads more to the gourmand side. I own both this and Oud Satin Mood, both beautiful perfumes but I can't see the similarity - if there's any oud in OSM, the jammy rose covers it pretty effectively, and the rose in Exquisite Embroidery is far less sweet (and I can't smell any vanilla). Exquisite Embroidery reminds me of Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud but with less oud, less sweetness and more ambergris. Smells very expensive and luxurious, not in a sexy but in a very sophisticated way.

For me this is a pixelated and less sweet but very powdery version of Oud Satin Mood. The rose is sweet but less sticky-sweet and less violetty. The ambergris leaves a salty kiss at the edges of the fragrance without being in any way animalic. The powder does remind of Shaghaf Oud, less so Oud Bouquet. The spices here are gentle and add dimension. Very enjoyable and very unisex. Perfect for a mid winters walk on a cool, gusty day.

It's amazing! I gifted mine to mom's, this is such aa beautiful perfume. It's gorgeous. It's feminine, beautiful, so rosy and so intense. I barely actually feel any nutmeg at all. It's not a spicy perfume at all. I do agree it's similar to Oud Satin Mood. It's definitely a similar atmosphere.

This to me smells like a less syrupy sweet Oud Satin Mood and I actually prefer this. Closer in the rose oud realm of Roja's Ahlam than an Oud Bouquet. Quite stunning but does not suit my scent profile. 9/10

Exquisite Embroidery Final Assessment on March 12, 2025 Today, I crave a fragrance from this line. As usual, it really back and forth process. I miss Caftan, Rouge Verlour and 37 RDB from the same line. So I bring out to play. At long last, this is the only one that survive the cut. “Rose - Oud fragrance genre normally going over the top. Make you feel enigmatic and powerful. Charming and Big. Sometimes, Borderline Aggressive.” It’s now one of my benchmark : not a quality that I am wiling to wear. There is only a few that pass the benchmark. Apart how smooth this fragrance are, The dusty patchouli amber with ambroxan twine with powdery Nutmeg and Ginger. Making the texture of powdery note for this fragrance. Slight a drop of sweetness (Mortal) to keep it pleasing. A modern soft animatic leathery accord formed at the back of the scent. (Safarran and All those woody thing). While the Simulate Rose shine provide pink hue for the scent. I under stand the perfumer viewer that this is close to amber Nuit (Ambrox + Rose). I really aware that Mortal feel is slightly-off putting to be so call Artisan fragrance. But it is really smooth blends and not overly aggressive. It kind of calm authority instead. King of Sword. Determine but not deathful and scent is not overly strong, easily to wear during the wear. I can call this a high-shelf Leathery-Oud Rose fragrance. Similar to Cuir Garamante by MDCI and Santa Pao Rosa by Guerlain. To be my weapon of choice, for Rose-Oud selection. End of Assessment. ===== Review on December 24, 2024 I am in major phase of declutter the fragrance. I am in the point that I do not want to be collector anymore. And I just want to surround with a fragrance I would love to wear. At first I am not so sure about Exquisite Embroidery. But after numerous test, this survive the cut. The key : Exquisite Embroidery is really a good blend fragrance. It is kind of Linear but also very dimensional in the way that each component was finely selected to be use in this fragrance. This is definitely recall; oud satin mood by the way of its icing sugar texture. But the core idea of this fragrance is actually build more like traditional pachouli-amber fragrance; any the magic lies in amber it is softly animalic yet provide icing sugar texture. Yet. this amber smell slight "ghost" Leathery feel and it goes really well with Medicinal Nagamotha & Unrefined patchouli. and decoration with lite rose accent and soft spicy. It's just cleaver blend. Like, It probably use all the idea extensively to connect a dot of each ingredient. It's not a new idea for sure, but the way of this created is really cleaver. Consider this is a work form Hamid Merati-Kashani (creator of Perfume de Marley). This is beyond his in-house work in area of refinement. This scent is really refine. Like Enrium, a review below me mention. "The devil is in the details". Best work so far from Hamid Merati-Kashani. . . . === First Impression (on March, 05th 2024) “ High Quality Rose-Oud for your personal enjoyment” This is best quality EE could give.. This is the personal quote I would give to “Exquisite Embroidery”. I dig in this realm, you can look my profile. My fragrancs are Oud in Rose or Rose in Oud taking almost 1/4 of my space archive. Oud Rose is meant for impress for majority of people. Strong, Enigmatic, Mysterious and Alluring would be majority personality based example for this realm. This fragrance isn’t meant to be that way. If you really dig into this, there will be certain aspect that prominant. Either Rose, Oud or Spicy. But this one walk into Oudy (almost chocolate like), mild sweetness, stable mild spicy accord and shy rose. Merge altogether as one, on soft musky /semi powdery base. Opening wasn’t the best as it blast of something not overly spicy (think saffron rich - Les Sable Roses but doesn’t as metallic) it kinda meh on the first contract. The first transits is kinda bad either, the earthy patchouli merge strongly and very sharp like it wanna show himself here.. and powdery amber accord form up. Not salty or anything.. it is more like. Powderiness from amber note (like TomFord Noir Homme) form here. It is very big and round. Dense, starts to cover that patchouli. Rose is barely be found at this point. What the..? You may think. Wait another 30 minutes post wear when that bombastic strong patchouli and round powdery amber crack up. Everything here is a bliss from now on. Soft sweet chocolatey oud form himself, along with soft rose nuance. Patchouli and that cloud of amber powder soften themself. You got that cocooning soft oud, soft rose, soft mild spice on base of soft musky powder amber.. Chef kiss.. this is so awesome. The scent linger this way and oud keep himself slightly more prominent overtime. It can’t break that powdery amber accord, patchouli and rose grounded oud, when there was a time when anything starts to show stronger. Another component keeps it back in place. This is key of this fragrance. It is linger scent that cover wearer very long time than being projection beast. Because how naturalness it is, it is not leathery oud, it is not incense oud, it is not rose oud or spicy oud. It gives everything just right. If there was a thing calls “standard Hud-Rose fragrance that neutral to wear every wear, I would call EE that one” Enjoyable, I prob buy back up when I have chance. Score 9/10 Projection moderate Classification true unisex Summary: High Quality Rose-Oud for your personal enjoyment Ps. If you wish slightly stronger rose experience that go the same way. Exquisite Embroidery is a sweet, jammy rose scent with a lush amber base, punctuated with classic rose accompaniments like oud and patchouli. There is a lot going on here, but I guess this is reflected in its name. It works quite well overall, but isn't a definitive rose scent for me. EE is rose-dominant throughout, lush and sweet from the beginning. The rose of the opening is spiced, with warm, rich nutmeg complementing it beautifully. I don't get any ginger. The sweet amber base lingers in the background throughout, balsamic and smooth, coming to the fore as the scent develops. I get hints of vanilla and chocolate - here it really reminds me of Lancôme Oud Bouquet, a rose-oud with a prominent sweet truffle note. It is all very sweet and heady, almost honeyed, but thankfully doesn't become cloying. The patchouli adds a much-needed earthy counterpoint to the rose as it unfurls further. The ambergris note becomes evident as it progresses, slightly salty, again a nice juxtaposition with the sweetness. The oud is muted and woody, adding a nice dryness to the amber too. However, the amber accord here remains primarily sweet. It becomes musky as it dries down, with the rose becoming slightly powdery in texture, enhanced nicely by woody notes. The amber remains, but the sweetness is more balanced-out here. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. Despite the sweet amber, EE is unisex, in a vaguely Middle Eastern way. It is an autumn/winter scent. A bold, jammy rose-oud-amber scent, EE is nicely put-together with good-quality ingredients, and could so easily have been a mess. Like its namesake, the devil is in the details. 4/5.

Exquisite Embroidery [Full Review on July 20, 2026] Yesterday, or 2 days ago I am in the mood of romantic fragrance. Sensuale, it turn to Oreintal style fragrance. I want to echo Yudov. "The devil is in the details". Embroidery, a technique to sequencing something into garment. In patterned manner. often repeated until every inch of fabric is ornamented." Details is show up when looking from afar. mesmerizing, sparking diamond. Like Satine stepping onto the stage of the Moulin Rouge—glittering, romantic, and exquisitely adorned. Entertain Us. === The details of Exquisite Embroidery is murderous, by how this amber fragrance was well decorate with light rose, and beautiful woody patchouli. Dusting Nutmeg (or Cinnamon) on curmarin at just right amount. Undeninably amber yet soft gourmand, almost eatable in a way of Turkish-Delight style. It's more woody, and substantial consider a similar genre. oud satin mood. but this have more woody material anchor. new enough at Parisian dirty chic. === Right at year of release; this fragrance is under era of Hedi Slimane. Legendary of Indie-Sleek, a vertical styling. that feel effortless, raw and undeniably rock adopt by Youth Couture. Hedi hand off right around 2016. I believe this was eventually discontinued, as Exquisite Embroidery. Unmistakable reminds of another fragrance Eau Noire which was created by Dior when Hendi was designer; might just personal conspiracy theory. But Well. I believe this way. === It a fashion fragrance; like a classic one. Let' think of YSL sunset or Lou Lou. You can't go wrong. a very French, Parisian, dirty clean rock n' roll with enough of dare.

Whoever said this smells like Side Effect needs to have their nose checked! The opening to me is a little skanky and off putting due to the nutmeg and ginger. This only lasts the first 10-15 minutes. Once the top notes are diminished, then the light jammy rose comes out. The drydown reminds me a lot of Oud Satin Mood. After a few hours is where the patchouli comes in. It’s a nice air patchouli that lets the rose fold into it where it becomes ever so slightly creamy. That was my first full wearing review, and I’m sure my thoughts will change after getting a full 10ml in. I think it’s a safe blind buy if you like fragrances like MFK Oud Satin Mood. The opening reminded me of oud bouquet but creamier and softer like a fall spicy pumpkin latte the dry down does have similarities with oud satin mood but it is nothing special. This is not sexy maybe sensual because of how it wraps around the skin. Not sure if worth the money for most people for me it does just because i want the entire collection, my favourite thus far is sleek suede it is addictive this one is a like not a love!!

This is Palo Santo of Carner with a supernatural red rose!

Quite similar to my beloved Oud Satin Mood but it does not have the depth and character that OSM carries... I am a little disappointed because I thought the Rose here in Exquisite Embroidery would be the reigning Queen and she isn’t ( ̄^ ̄) Unfortunately, after a little while on my skin, it’s pulling VERY much like Oud so much so that it feels slightly “dirty” or something funky...ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ That’s okay, I am still very glad I got to sniff Exquisite Embroidery. It’s what samples are for and I am sure I won’t chase for a full bottle after having experienced it on my skin...

I tested this in Selfridges yesterday - will admit that it was only via paperstrip. It smelled like roses but somehow not intriguing enough to allow the SA spray it on my skin. It may transform on skin, may not, guess others will have to see it for themselves. :) P.S Myself a big rose fan and have tested hundreds or rose fragrances over the years. I'll stick to what I have for now :)

I’ve just purchased this perfume, the intial smell was amazing but after smell is uncomfortable. I guess it’s the nutmeg

I cannot stop wearing this. I constantly grab for this over my other bottles. This juice is exquisite, as the name suggests. Rose and ambergris work so well together. Rose for me is a love/hate relationship. Sometimes I can't stand it sometimes I love it. This is the kind of Rose that I like. The overall feel is opulent, gold and very smooth. There are no sharp edges here. You can smell dust in it and powderiness with the addition of luxury face cream. Glistening body draped in oriental fabric. It smells of warm skin. Must be the musk. This is the kind of fragrance you can't stop smelling and greedily inhale it. The lasting power is great. It doesn't have a huge projection but it's sufficient. I don't like to kill other people with my fragrance. It smells expensive and very sexy. EDIT: This develops on my skin exactly the same as MFK Oud Satin Mood. The OSM has a very different opening with the jummy rose and doughnuts. I might buy MFK after I run out of this.

Exquisite Embroidery is a timeless, hypnotic scent. I wore it in Siberia winter 2017, and it reminds me exactly of the cold outside, pine trees, thick, luxurious velvet curtains and achingly beautiful home decor and carvings in wood on buildings' windows. It is a very beasty scent, but somehow humble, stoic almost. Any age past 24 could pull this off, though it requires taste. It's not a very sexy scent, it has an academic vibe to it. It smells intelligent, artful, diplomatic. I absolutely love it.

It reminds me of Oud Satin Mood of Maison Francis Kurkdjian, but with less oud, no vanilla, more airy (due to ambergris I guess. It therefore smells less oriental than Satin Mood. Quite a luxurious smell. It has nothing close to Dior's Ambre Nuit.
