When I smelled Libre for the first time I had no ideas of any of the notes as I never saw it here on fragrantica nor at any store . My friend brought it over from Europe for my birthday and I though “ oh no , my taste is so particular how could she lol “ however very nice of her . I could always give it away as a gift or wear it on occasion I thought. I opened it and smelled it and immediately loved it. This stuff is good ! I looked up the notes and was in complete love now. A lavender perfume with vanilla. ...one of my favourite category of all times. This perfume has incredible staying powder , great silage and amazing performance. It’s like a memory of the past , to me it’s Europe in a bottle. This is how perfumes use to perform , memories of the 80s here ,updated. Great quality , elegant , sophisticated yet sexy and warm. It has a sweet creamy vibe which is slightly herbal and aromatic , the vanilla makes it so feminine and sexy , something is slightly fresh it must be the lavender and jasmine and orange musk and ambergris that may appear ever so slightly soapy. All the notes are pretty much a combination of my favourites notes. So to me this perfume is heavenly ! Ambergris , musk , cedar and vanilla are the base of this creamy rich scent that manages to be light and fluffy at the same time. Masterpiece to my nose. Libre is described as a sexy cool , warm floral walking the line between masculine and feminine ,they say it’s the hottest launch of the year , they say Libres freestyle takes on the fougere , a classic style of men’s fragrances featuring lavender with the warm heart of the vanilla and ambergris and burning hot with orange blossom. ... The only thing not so great about this perfume is the cheap light plastic cap. It should have more weight to it. It cheapens the perfume bottle somewhat. I see Sephora carries this now. So I ordered a purse spray from there. Not that it’s needed as this perfume lasts and lasts into the night and next morning.

Libre is one of my favourite fragrances ever and always will be. It’s so versatile and can be worn all year round. It is such a relaxing scent but at the same time makes me feel excited. It is also very sophisticated and luxurious smelling. Very grown woman. It kind of reminded me of mosquito repellant but in a really good way if that makes any sense but I kind of like the smell of mosquito repellant since I was a child. It gives the fragrance a strange and exciting kick. It also gives me a vibe of a French patisserie with eclairs wafting through the air, specifically the cream used in the middle of the eclairs. I get that same vibe from La vie est belle it’s very soothing and chic. That is why it is very multi faceted as it has many different scent memories tied into it. There is nothing else like it it is a very unique scent and all the flankers are nice to. It is very addicting. The bottle is gorgeous and luxurious to. The scent lasts for hours and hours and projects like crazy. It is strong and your fragrance will probably be the only one noticed in an entire crowd of woman wearing fragrance. Perfect date night or party scent !!

An amazing perfume! Its popularity is justified. I know it’s known for using lavender in the composition, but it’s primarily an orange blossom white floral with musky vanilla dry-down. It’s an incredibly uplifting, happiness boosting perfume. After I was upset yesterday due to some negative news, I reached for it, and it made me feel so much better. It opens up bright and citrusy- it’s like walking in a beautiful citrus fruit market with fairy lights smelling orange blossoms and a hint of lavender and petting your kitty cat. It creates a feeling of freedom. I love the name! A masterpiece! I will always want to have it. There are dupes out there, but I will wait for the OG. If you want a more lavender based perfume, then try Mon Guerlain edp or Burberry Goddess edp, those tend to be more lavender based. It’s a signature worthy scent good for daytime, events and work. Can’t go wrong with it. Longevity and projection are moderate, but perfect for daytime. If you want it to last more and be stronger, go for the intense or parfum version.

I know that this fragrance may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for me personally, this was my first love. The jasmine and amber make it a warm and feminine scent, with lavender to keep it fresh. I feel like you’d have to like orange blossom to like this fragrance. To me, this perfume reminds me of the woman who have raised me and inspire me— warm and comforting, but clean and fresh. White wicker furniture on a back patio, fireflies swirling around you, fresh linens blowing lazily in the wind, sisters playing with each others hair, a baby nestled in its mothers embrace, lace and candles, this scent is soft but beautiful. I love spraying it at night and also for everyday/work days, great for layering or just a simple little pick me up. I love using a photorealistic rose scent from my collection to bring out the florals, and any amber/cashmere fragrances when I want it to be more comforting. They could never make me hate you YSL Libre!

Okay, first I want to say all of you who left negative review, hush hush. We dont believe any word you are saying, go away and tell your lies somebody else, becose this parfym is totally AMAZING! Beautiful and gorgeous. This is signature for somebody who have free soul and free mind. Soft, warm and mix perfectly with your own chemistry, almost like it is your natural scent. Lavender make little masculine vibe at first, but just wait and the magic happens. It become just beauty and feminine, soft and warm, free and comforting parfym that you couldnt resist. Please note, that If you sniffing your wrist like me, all the time, somebody could think that there is something wrong with you :D So try to avoid that when there is other people around you, I know its hard, becose Libre smelling so, so good, and getting better and better after time goes by.. Libre is definitely my new signature, no doubt. Great job YSL!

I have bought 5+ bottles of this perfume (at least two in the 5oz size), and I always come back to this one. People at work associate me with this scent, and always notice it on the days I am wearing it. It complements my skin so well, like a siren, I have led two other women to buy this perfume. It is a lovely white floral. If you like orange blossom, jasmine, and lavender, this is absolutely the scent for you. This is the perfect daytime scent. I always feel professional and poised when I am wearing it. When I first met my boyfriend, I was wearing this perfume, and he texted me after the date to say he could still smell my lovely perfume... and just like that, the second date was secured :) Give Libre a try... it must be responsible for all my career and love life success! Libre Intense is also perfect for nighttime/date nights you want to be extra special.

I have 60 perfumes in total, and if this is my signature perfume that should say all and more. At first my partner bought me this and I loved it so much I finished it and had to buy the refill, and it already has a noticeable dent. It smells absolutely amazing, I always get the utmost compliments when wearing this perfume no matter the occasion this is absolutely gorgeous for all year around, my partners sister loved this so much on me that she immediately went and bought one, although I can say this perfume has a different skin chemistry smell on everyone (every perfume is like that it smells different on everyone’s skin) my partners sister who bought this perfume after smelling it on me said it smells different to how she smelt it on me and that it smelt better on me. Overall, this perfume is the absolute shit I would repurchase this till the day I die 😍

I LOVE this scent. Usually with scents, I look beyond the notes and mostly take note of the perfume's backdrop. This background can't really be described, it differs by brand, and is the reason why I just can't do blind buys, because if I hate a perfume, I usually hate it not because of the notes, but this specific enveloping, if that makes sense. Libre is unusual for me because I love the notes, I smell the lavender and vanilla, but the final product does have a faint reminder of something that reminds me of plastic and department stores. Usually, I can't stand many mainstream brands because of this headache-inducing reminder. Yet there is something truly nostalgic in Libre, not of a different era but of a time that I lived through, it reminds me of Paris and 202-13. Love you Libre, the name is fitting and you make me feel elegant and lush and rich!

@Deerlet described it best. Very clean, floral, yet almost stern, and very straightforward. Feels like walking through a classy store you know you don't belong in, kind of like meeting an acquaintance you know you will never see again after this initial visit, you two just don't fit together, yet both experiences aren't unenjoyable, you just don't fit the mold. At first, the floral notes in this is so heavy, the vanilla is doing all it can to keep up, but it eventually melds together, an uneven dance, still, it creates a softer clean scent, almost becoming creamy, yet still sharp. This perfume eludes high class, or at least what "high class" is envisioned to be. Clean. Firm. Bright. Wanting to be different yet still not. Over-all, would wear again, but it is definitely something you need to sample before buying. 8.3/10.

This is a great everyday fragrance. I have overlooked it for so long because I’ve been in a love affair with the intense. This summer I found that wearing the intense was too rich. I think this is going to be my everyday and intense for evenings, dates, occasions. I do not find this masculine at all or even really unisex. It is fresh at first but does warm up and the vanilla and ambergris come through. I LOVE ambergris and it’s not heavy here. Here the ambergris adds a skin-like, soft, salty effect together with the musk-its heaven. Some people say this is overpowering. I do think three to four sprays is plenty but I don’t find it obnoxious or particularly loud. Does remind of laundry, but not soap, just freshly dried clothes that smell amazing but still elegant.

Omg! I finally get the hype! I got a free sample and I love it! I’m not for certain, but maybe when I first sampled Libre, it was le Parfum or Intense. Not sure if I ever even tried the edp. I know I’ve sampled at least 3 other Libre flankers over the years, but they all either overwhelmed me or underwhelmed me. Too much lavender, jasmine or orange blossom. I think the Fans and Flames was kind of boring, but this is smooth, rich, classy. A beautiful lavender and decadent vanilla. I also know that a few years ago, I was not an orange blossom fan, but that’s changed. I have to try them all again! I am now a Libre lover, well at least the edp.....

I just love this perfume so much, it’s been my signature scent for the last couple years. I like to wear this one during the day & use Le Parfum for going out at night. Libre original is fresh & warm at the same time. The lavender is beautiful & aromatic while the blackcurrant adds a tart juiciness & the base of course is being a musky vanilla adds a bit of sweetness & sexy sensuality without being over the top. It’s versatile. You can dress it up or wear this with a t-shirt & jeans. I prefer this one over the intense version. I would say the original, Le Parfum & Flowers & Flames are my favorites from this line.

i am the mass-market who likes this scent. it is stereotypical 'perfume' in a sense but doesn't have any of those cloyingly sweet or old powdery notes i find many other mainstream oerfumes have, it is eternal, the sillage is insane. when i sweat it becomes very masculine and almost an entirely different perfume but both scents are great, it has a really good strong base which i now like to layer with other fragrances for more of a bold scent profile. i wore this when i just needed to know that the perfume im wearing was long lasting and you could smell it through the day, which you definitly can with this

Can be nauseating if you spray too much. Go light. Longevity is insane. I love this, intense, le parfum, and the new vanille couture. Libre always leaves a scent trail and lasts all day. It’s a confident scent that draws attention. Not for the weak. It will always have a place in my collection and always a solid choice when I don’t know what to wear. My bottle has smoothed out over time so if you find it sharp initially you will probably find that it gets better as time goes on. This deserves a rating in the 4s. This apparently is a scent you either adore or hate.

Maybe I’m off my hinges, to me this smells like a high class version of Gucci Guilty Pour Homme. It’s definitely unisex, leaning masculine. As a male, this does not smell like something I would want to smell on a woman, I would rather smell it on myself. Speaking of MYSLF, Libre is a warmer more comforting slight sensual version of the same idea. MYSLF is more fresh laundry, Libre is more fresh clean human. Regardless this smells a lot more similar to Gucci Guilty EdT and Gucci Guilty Parfum pour Homme than anything else to my nose.

The longer my bottle has sat, the smoother it has gotten as it was quite sharp a few months ago. I tried it today and that sharpness has gone away. The sharpness would give me a horrible headache so I stopped reaching for it but today I fell in love with it again. Honestly it’s hard to dislike this. It has powerful performance, a few sprays will last all day. And I’m a self proclaimed oversprayer but I cannot with this. The dry down is quite sexy. I was ready to sell my bottle but I’m glad I gave it another spray.

To be honest, Libre might be a bit overrated. It's a gorgeous blend with a lot of freshness and lavender, somewhat sweet. It smells too closely like a cheap drugstore perfume and I was dissapointed when I smelt the Lidl dupe and it had the exact scent. It's pretty, but the price is too high for what it is. For me, it sits next to CK in2u or one. I'd go for the le perfume version because it's actually pretty good and worth the money. If you like Lazy Sunday morning or Miss Dior, you'll like Libre probably.

Oh wow, this is an eye-opener. Libre does smell like free air, but gorgeously fragrant. The head is so enchanting that I literally gasped. My overall impression is delicate floral. There is no loudness, no cliché. Now and then I get the slightly masculine vibe of lavender, but the whole composition is blended so masterfully that it doesn't feel manly, it just feels confident. Unisex? No way. It is feminine as can be. And the longevity is exceptional.

Žene ga ili vole ili mrze, iako mislim da je više onih koje ga vole. To me je i odbilo, jednostavno se osjeti na svakoj drugoj ženskoj osobi, pa mi je vrlo brzo dosadilo nositi ga.

Just an overall gorgeous, well known scent. I own multiple of the variations and they are all lovely. The lavender gives it this mature sophistication that I could only emulate on myself with perfume. It lasts beautifully long, and while some may dislike its popularity, I find a kind of solidarity in discovering that its other people's go to scents as well.

⚜️I got a tester as a gift. I wasn’t expecting to love it but I did. It’s not my vibe but the smell is extremely pleasant. I received a lot of compliments. The smell is fresh and clean. Lavender is clearly the dominant note. It reminds me of a “clean girl/new money”. It lasts very long on skin. More than 2 days wow.

Generic, yes. Do I love it, yes. I genuinely feel this is a great clean floral that I, personally, find addicting to smell. It feels elegant, chic, and confident to wear. If you want something complex or head-turning, maybe this isn't it- but if you want daily graceful femininity, then this is a good pick.

Signature worthy, mass appealing scent that’s popular for a reason. It really blends citrus, floral, vanilla and the aromatic lavender beautifully. Super versatile scent. Only things I dislike is how popular it is and the cheap looking bottle.

I borrowed some from my girlfriend the other day and, while it doesn't smell nearly as intoxicating on me as it does on her, it still sparkled off of my skin. So beautiful! Lavender and orange blossom working together in tandem. Very good!

this smells like a hug from your grandmother on a rainy day. it's warm, inviting, calming. something about it feels nostalgic. whenever the weather is gloomy i reach for this perfume immediately because it just matches the vibe

So in love with the scent, i feel as if it’s nearly impossible to replicate it. I personally felt the vanilla note to be stronger than the citrus just by smelling the spray nozzle but it’s a godly combination. I recommend it!

I received several samples of this in miniature bottles a few years ago, and I love wearing it in Summer. It just reminds me of the end of the year and all its festivities. A few dabs on the neck and wrist go a long way.

I have to say not a big fan of lavender notes in perfumes (Mon Guerlain style) but this is one beautiful floral vanilla-ish lavender that is hard not to love. Lasts an eternity and it’s super versatile. Just gorgeous.

Absolutely terrible when I first tried it. I love Prada Paradoxe. After a month or so (which is this day) I tried Libre again. How on earth did it smell like Paradoxe now. :3

A good classic perfume that works for every occasion. Smells very elegant and classy. The scent reminds me of a more feminine floral version of a man's classic cologne.

I smelled this in Sephora this past weekend and fell in love, so I purchased the travel size until I can afford the 100ml bottle lol. it's masculine but I love it!

This perfume is beast mode for me. Two days and counting on my clothes. I did finally add more vanilla to soften it a bit. It's a keeper.

I don't know why but this perfume just doesn't stay on me. An hour or two and it's gone. Which is a shame because I really enjoy it.

It’s funny how marketing affects your perception of a scent. My first experience with this scent profile was BBW Fairytail. I found it to be playful and romantic. But when I purchased Libre, I felt like it was a work perfume. This pulls very sweet on me. I pick up nothing sharp even though this scent is dominated by white flowers. The lavender is very strong and reminiscent of a men’s cologne. I love it but not everyone will. This one has a feminine/masculine duality. It can come across as luxury shaving cream, but that is what I love about this. But I do understand why some individuals find that polarizing. So, in spite of Libre's popularity this is not blind buy safe. Projection and longevity are both excellent. If you want to try and take the masculine edge off try layering it with Burberry Goddess or Bath and Bodyworks Cloud Nine. This perfume was one of my everyday staples, a 8/10 scent for me. But just as I finished my bottle, Libre Vanilla Couture was released. So I did not repurchase the original and I added the new limited edition to my collection.

Spring has recently sprung here, and warmer weather returns. And so is Libre, mon amour. Aromatic fresh but warm, plush and golden. Mood enhancer, emotional healer. The lavender accord shining bright with golden rays. Instantly brightening moods, bringing the sun inside. I always use 1 to 2 sprays inside my blouse if wearing something loose or on a maxi dress. Never do i overspray or rely too much on wrist dabs for that warm scenttrail. But wrists could work too. When i wear a tight top, i go for behind the ears or back of my hairline. Golden perfection. Fabulous ✴️😌✴️ I avoid Libre in winter because the cold enhances the petitgrain and the sharp woodsy side of lavender too much, which i both absolutely love as accords, but i need Libre as a complete composition with it's warmth and for me it is spring and summer perfection.

I have always overlooked Libre. I felt it sat amongst the rest of those lifeless designer perfumes, pushing out slop which somehow seems to sell millions - and so I had never given it a fair chance. Now, whilst it’s nothing groundbreaking, I’m really pleasantly surprised by this. Beautiful bright sunny flowers with this gorgeous sweet, creamy, soapy musk which smells redolent of a gorgeous milky bubble bath. The lavender is present, but not in any way similar to how lavender is used in current designer masculines. The sweetness of the orange blossom and vanilla, contrasted the soapy brightness of jasmine and musk is actually rather beautiful. It doesn’t smell cheap or tacky, but instead radiates a lovely classy cleanliness. I don’t think I’d wear it for myself, but I would love to smell this on a woman.

Something weird happened. So the tester i had before i bought my full bottle, had this pillowy, plush golden cloud of white floral and citrusy lavender vanilla. I mean the vanilla drydown was always something i could count on making this so gently warm, pillowy, comforting and anything but sharp. But with the perfume in my full bottle i think i have never achieved this gorgeous transformation when i wear it. It stays quite woody over the length of the perfume journey. I'm so sad about this and notice i wear it less. Even though i'm someone who loves chypre fragrance, of which some can be quite woody, sharp or sour in their ways. But the fact that the full bottle performs significantly different than the sample is such a bummer. Did i misread the sampler back then and actually had a flanker?
