Live Jazz

Mint, mint, minty mint. If you don't like the smell of mint I'm telling you right now, STAY AWAY. However, should you be someone who also feels uplifted and refreshed by the smell of fresh mint then by all means get on the wagon. Live Jazz opens with a sharp and vibrant blast of cool mint tinged with a great grapefruit and lemon note. Nothing 'toothpastey' about it. Though I cannot say that it smells like natural mint either, it definitely doesn't smell synthetic. Perhaps this is the other notes fuzzing it up. And fuzz it up in a good way they do. While sharp and quite powerful, Live Jazz never feels overwhelming. Strong but not thuggish in its persistence I never feel like its driving a nail in my head. However, I can imagine this being one that would really make you feel sick if you already had a headache. As Live Jazz dries down a floral quality begins to show. I understand no flowers are listed in its creation, but this is what I get. A subtle and slightly creamy rosy sort of accord. Maybe it's the rhubarb coming into play as I have no idea what rhubarb actually smells like. But I'd bet my money on the coriander as the doppleganger. All the while the mint plays on while vanilla harmonizes. Live Jazz seems to have excellent projection and decent longevity. No major quibbles there. But I'd say about 3 sprays max or you'll really be gassing people. The stuff is so invigorating and sharp that I really don't see any problem with using it in cooler weather either. It'll get noticed just fine. If you're looking for something very masculine, this probably isn't it. Very unisex. But if you enjoy mint do try. This is one of the most uplifting and fresh fragrances I've ever tried and retains character through and through unlike many that lose their initial charm after their topnotes fade away. Well blended and smelling of quality ingredients. Great stuff. Thumbs up!

One of my all time favourites. When I was a young professional this scent was one of my signatures. I had a bottle for 15 years that I just sprayed the last few drops now. Fortunately I recently secured another sealed bottle of all things from a close friend that was a result from my Facebook post about my Live Jazz coming to an end - a coincidental conversation - I meanwhile researched and found an amazingly close replacement - Bond No.9 Riverside Drive - one of very few occasions that it is close enough to keep my sensitive nose happy. None the less - the appeal was its natural uniqueness at the time. For me its not so much Grapefruit but more a not too sweet candied Lemon (not tart either) with fresh crushed coriander and a bit of mint over the top. The other notes help smooth it out and giving body and the nutmeg giving a tiny powdery feel and dryness. This is where Riverside drive is different - at a casual smell it is very close but nose to skin or a good linger reveals the coriander to be more like basil and the base is less dry, a tinge more floral, more moist from the pineapple and violet. Still a rare occasion where it will suffice as replacement. Either way - both top tier scents for me (when you see my collection it will put into perspective as to how much these scents are valued to me in their uniqueness - however if you can suggest an alternative please message me). Only Miller Harris Feuilles De Tabac, Histoire D'Parfums 1828 and Versace Green Jeans (also sadly discontinued) come close to the same green natural vibe. If I had know I would have bulk bought. Ah the memories...

We've had a few warm spring days here in England, so I thought it time to tear into the cellophane of my new bottle of YSL Live Jazz, seeing as my previous bottle is nearly empty from last year. And what immediately struck me when I applied the fresh bottle was the mint. I think this note had lost it's potency due to age in my last bottle, because now it bloomed, fresh and clean, along with the opening slightly bitter-sweet citrus notes. At first, it is oh-so close to being a chewing-gum mint, but this is just about saved by the lemon and grapefruit. Its when the coriander of the mid notes appear, quite soon after the opening, that the mint becomes more herbal and 'real', like crushing a mint leaf between your fingers. From therein the fragrance holds the minted coriander notes for several hours, slowly allowing the basenotes of mellow cedar and ambergris to seep in. What is interesting is the interplay between warmth and coolness in Live Jazz, due to the pairing of warm/cool notes through the whole composition. Certainly makes this interesting to wear. Not a sillage monster at all, Live Jazz is a refined, mellow, sunny day scent, well crafted and very enjoyable indeed.

I dont think its the greenest scent. Check the cK Truth Men for the greenest scent. This is cool and yet so warm. Versatile fragrance. A little green, a little sweet, a little woody, a little spicy, a little sour... Refreshing in summer, warming in winter. And I dont think it smells like the vegetables or a salad bar. Maybe the coriander faking the people which is the dominant note in Live Jazz. Longevity and sillage ok 4me. As its named its really so Jazzy, quite unique and different scent. Except the bottle has no similarities with the original. Opens up with lemon peel, grapefruit and cool mint. Very refreshing and cool, then very soon mid notes join to this carnival which give a subtle sweetness, spiceness and warmness, within 30-60 minutes base notes join also which add some woody notes and sweetness of amber and vanilla. Then all notes exist till end. Btw very natural, nothing smells synthetic to me in LJ, especially the lemon note is absolutely so natural.

Smells green , fresh and with a hint of the Jazz sweet/dirtyness. It is however much much lighter than Jazz and so much more summery. Very vibrant and very natural smelling. GREAT mint note. Really does feel like the feeling of a live jazz band , a little improvised , very much so alive. Great scent and not dated at all. I thought it was gonna be an old school mint fragrance that would be nice but not so wearable if you want to be more modern. But this is a great balance between classic and new. I could totally see some of the younger generations that look for something different wear this as this has a lot of charm and is very unique compared to modern Amberwood and sweet fragrances - im fairly young myself and can see this being a nice summer staple for a few of my peers. Kind of reminds me of the composition found in Cartier Pasha fraicheur menthe but it’s less mint forward and a lot more herbal/earthy. Very nice cilantro note too.

I agree with the below reviewer, the price is going up, getting harder to get. I quite honestly don't understand the voting results, more likes than love? It's really refreshing in warmer climate, spicy aroma is just the way I like it. I decided to pick up this bottle because someone was praising for the realistic mint note on this one, unfortunately, I have to search really hard to feel that note. It's rather short lasting, and I'm guessing that this is because of how YSL decided to make the perfume as opposed to the ingredients/notes that's in this bottle. By the by, I haven't smelled the original Jazz, the note pyramid didn't attract me that much, but some day soon. From the story that I've read about this bottle, Live Jazz, I'm not into listening to jazz music, then again nobody dislikes jazz music I suppose. Lively, a little old, dare I say classic? This beautiful accords live through me, brighten me up every upcoming summer.

Is it just me or does anyone else realizes that Live Jazz & Image by Cerruti are almost identical? Is it maybe the mint opening they both share? I think so! What Image has going on is a beautiful mint/pear opening that is so fresh, so crisp, so clean & out of the shower, while Live Jazz is fresh & clean but thats where it ends as far as the opening goes.. Live Jazz does not have that fruit opening to give it that nice crisp edge but this is not a bad thing! As the scent progresses I still smell the mint along with some form of dusty lemon trailing the woods & vanilla base. I really like Live Jazz as Yves Saint Laurent makes great frags.. But for me this seems to be lacking longevity. I can smell it on me about 4 hours.. I would have to spray my shirt to get a longer scent life, over all I dont think its better than Image when it comes to the opening or the longevity... However, I will still enjoy this as it is well done!

Live Jazz will always remind me of my first summer in Spain, in 1998. Found a sample spritzer in some Euro music/fashion magazine and loved it instantly. When I smell it still, I am taken back to the Spanish coast, beaches, discotecas, kalimotxo, pulpo, crisp white shirts, and beautiful tanned Mediterranean skin. It starts off with a brief, but bright citrus grapefruit and bitter green aromatic coriander. This bitter green, aromatic citrus is its calling card. The mint adds a coolness to the coriander, and the rhubarb and even deeper green note, although some might find this last part sour. The opening and middle are pretty brief, and then it settles to an almost there, lived-in mint and vanilla tinged fougere. The projection is not super great, nor is its lifespan. Super casual and fun; sophisticated yet not pretentious in the least bit. Like an old memory of sunny and fantastic days that brings a smile to your face.

this is a good flanker of jazz from ysl. it opens fresh citrusy with a lemon-mint vibe, then the green and woody notes are protagonist of the dry down where u can find the dna of the original jazz. the citrus and woods are well blended giving u a very good summer fragrance.not a masterpiece, nothing for the ages but a very pleasant and a little bit unique scent, so it can be considered a little challenge for a season where the most of parfumes are mass-pleaser and boring. performance isnt great, just decent in longevity and sillage, fits better for 25 and up. right for warm seasons, during work or leasure time. maybe it is discontinued but where i live in u can still find it for a very reasonable price. un ottimo prodotto senza dubbio! scent:7,5 longevity:7 sillage:7 uniqueness:7,5 bottle:7 versatility: 8 my vote: 7,5 in one word: tonic

I saw an ad for this fragrance back in 1999 and someone said that the guy in the ad kind of looked like me. That made me curious of how Live Jazz would actually smell, so I went out and tried it. I absolutely loved it and it became my go to signature fragrance for over a decade. Unfortunately it is basically impossible to get hold of these days - and has been for quite some time - so I have been forced to move on. But this one will always have a special place in my memory. Partially because of the time I discovered it (as a young man and the first fragrance that I really loved), but also because I still think this one is quite brilliant: very fresh, exciting, sexy, alluring, masculine, classy and cool.

It’s a true crime YSL discontinued this. It will come back though, everything old is new again and this is a real gem. Not my first bottle, but my first bottle that was more than a basic freshie, and started my appreciation for the art of perfumery; and one of the few fragrances I’ve ever repurchased. See the like/dislike ratio and how there are almost no haters? That’s for very good reason. That opening, uplifting citrus and mint. Into a spicy coriander mid, that must be toned down by the rhubarb my nose could never quite pick up. Over the warm, inviting and woody non-gourmand vanilla base. Was special stuff.

I love this one. I was first bought this for Christmas in 1998 by my parents and it was my first real proper designer frag. Every time I spray it I get flash backs of spraying it on my face for the first time back on xmas day 98. As a 15 year old kid wearing this I got ALOT of compliments by the chicks and loved it. Sadly its discontinued now but ive managed to pick up 3 x 100ml on ebay for around 35/40 quid each which isnt bad. I love this fragrance, fresh, summery and energetic and Im now 33, wear it for work, day time at the weekend, in the beer garden I love it and still get the compliments.

In my top 5 favorite Summer fragrances. The bitter vegetal qualities of the Rhubarb and mint, the bright grapefruit. I'm totally in love with the way this feels to wear. Meant for hot summer days, however, like the reviewer below me noted, don''t expect too much projection. I've actually been mixing it with Dior Homme Sport in one of those refillable portable atomizers. The bitterness of LJ cuts some of the creaminess of DHS in a nice way.

I wore this again after many years and received compliments. It has a rare exotic freshness found nowhere else in Perfume Land. I used to wear it a lot when it first came out and it would elicit ecstatic praise from the ladies. There is a subdued sour note that works magic with the fresh herbal aspect of the perfume. Why was this not more popular? So many fine fragrances have disappeared forever.

This is a really classy scent. It’s unique compared to what’s popular now (all the blue fragrances). This starts out fresh and settles into a woody/spicy scent. It isn’t too strong. It’s understated and sophisticated. Perfect for office and everyday wear. This is signature scent worthy. I found a bottle for a song. Does anyone know when this was discontinued?

This is a wonderful fragrance that is perfect for any occasion. It is a fresh green scent that has a woodiness to it. It's a shame that scents like these aren't in production as much. It is a classy gentleman's scent. It definitely has that 90's men's cologne vibe to it. A nice alternative to all of the current "blue" scents.

This was a smell I've chosen for a guy I had a casual relationship with. He never cared for perfume before he got Live Jazz from me, but even though we've been over for several years now, we remained friends, and I know this become his signature scent, and every new girlfriend has to live with the fact ;-)))

Yay! This cologne is everything it's bottle design and name promises. It's happiness and energy. It's different from anything else. I got so many compliments on this one. People always ask and wonder what that unique ingredient is they smell. I guess it's the Rhubarb. Very unusual but then very familiar.

My Live Jazz/ Dior Homme Sport hybrid has been a home-run for me this summer. Much better and more enjoyable for me to wear than Dior Homme Cologne 2013. Perfect sweet/ sour mix with very good projection and longevity (For a summer frag of course).

Still one of my faves from the old, true and glorious days from YSL. What have they done to what it once was the realm of luxury fragrances???, Nowadays it's nothing exciting or magical.. so generic and bland. Sadly discontinued...

A very pleasant mellow smooth and fruity fragrance. I can smell the mint clearly in the opening. The dry-down has nice grapefruit notes. Longevity and silage are both reasonable. Live Jazz is one of the better summer fragrances.

So cool! I love sour and this has a sour citrus woody, minty vibe with a certain chic. I am digging the name & theme and the black & white presentation. Wish this was still around, I secured a 50ml for this spring anyway!

this fragrance masterfully combines fresh and warm notes that's why it is a great all around frag. One of the best frags to combat heat and high humidity. Its longevity around 4-6 hours with enjoyable drydown.

A light clean cologne, a mint/orange smell at start - then dries down to a bergamot/grapefruit scent, a nice summer smell. Be better if it was a bit stronger (maybe Live Jazz Loud) It's a likeable scent.

Sport fragrance from YSL house. I love when rhuburb appear but first note too sharp of mint and lemon, anyway,this one of my signature! Longavity : 6/10 for 4-5 hrs scent : 8/10 I love rhuburb in it!

This is my favourite fragrance and had been using it for many years. Love the minty citrus burst from the start to the creamy rhubarb heart and vanilla drydown with a hint of wood.

I feel like a bit missed my old benetton cold tone, maybe the coriander. but live jazz more complex and manly for me.I love wearing this one for office ...

I love it to the max. Smells lemon with mint. Very cool. Great for summer. The rhuburb adds a little kick. Sillage is average. Longevity around 4 hours.

On me this is a perfect cologne, smells great with exactly the right sillage. Long lasting. The rhubarb and coriander lingers and lingers.

pity we don't have anything close to ysl live jazz today. but hey, we have ysl y live! (just joking.) 10/10

It is suit, tie, and Old School Jazz..!! What is not to like..?? I have had this bottle for many months and today is my first time wearing. There are several in my increasing collection that have waited patiently for their first time wear.. Out of the box, I am very impressed with the classiness of the bottle - clear glass with cool etching. The cap has to fit "just right" - similar to a puzzle, which is also a representation of the fragrance. A puzzle - what notes are present to you? I can't decide if I get more of the citrus, amber, mint, vanilla, cedar, or rhubarb notes. The Dr. Pepper of fragrances..!! I lean more toward the blend of cedar, citrus, and rhubarb notes. Regardless of what you "get", Live Jazz is a pleasant fragrance. Very easy to like..!! While a pleasant fragrance, performance is a concern. I found that I got only 4+ hours from LJ at only arms length projection during this time period. Flexibility or versatility is decent. Given the complexity of the notes, I believe LJ can be worn for any season, but probably the warmer months are ideal. Additionally, the fragrance can be worn day or night. I see LJ best suited for a more mature audience, 35+, and established. Based on the modest projection/sillage, LJ is easily safe for any office environment. While pricing has steadily increased, probably due to short supply, it remains an average priced designer fragrance (currently selling online for about $50 USD for a small bottle - not too shabby..). My final evaluation for Yves St. Laurent's Live Jazz is 4.0 stars out of 5 stars. It is a pleasant fragrance that I like, but I am all out of love for LJ. The bottle is cool and the price is decent - if you are searching for a good fragrance and don't mind performance challenges, and just looking to add to your collection, I recommend. Otherwise, save your money and pass on Live Jazz. There are similar options available with demonstrated better performance. Enjoy your day and make it count. Invest your time rather than wasting your time...

This one takes your head for a spin! LIVE JAZZ comes in the clever guise of a folding screen. It's multi-facet panels (literally) reflect the dimensions in Jazz and juice. The design details on the bottle, right down to it's typography, are all about Contrast. And if you can't already guess, you're going to find out why ! The opening blast is lemony cool, high-lighted by spearmint. The lemon and grapefruit are more peel, than juice. The accord is airy, fresh, bitter green, and "ozonic". A hint of grassy herbs in the background distinguishes this scent from the pack. A cooling and refreshing scent. But sooner than you can pull on a pair of summer shorts; a warm creaminess gently sneaks in. Amber is the catalyst that begins to "cook" everything in it's warmth. The herbs morph from plant to food like. Reminiscent of the minty, lemony dish of seasoning that come on the side with your Vietnamese Noodle Soup -dominated by coriander (read cilantro), and simmering in a creamy rhubarb broth. What keeps this from turning altogether savory, is the sweetness of vanilla in the base, throbbing like a consistent back beat. Personally, the addition of vanilla here made this otherwise strangely refreshing "salad" a bit nauseating to my nose. But I must admit. This is way interesting...and may leave few heads unscratched. Is LIVE JAZZ a funky trip to Mabel's kitchen... to hear her nephew improvise on the keys, while she's cooking ? Could the culinary quality in this composition be Pierre Bourdon cross referencing Jazz Music with Soul Food ?! Who knows... Intellectual shenanigan aside, LIVE JAZZ is ultimately an unpretentious, versatile, and unique scent. Do I recommend it? It all depends on whether you have room on your playlist -for something as interesting and as flawed as...well, live Jazz! Longevity:7/10 (base notes) Projection (fall temperatures):6/10 (in mid) Art/Creatives: 7.5/10 (bottle and concept) How: year round, daytime, casual, care-free, laid-back but not sporty. (Worth testing).

Awhile ago I ended up with Yves Saint Laurent Live Jazz & a couple ml's of the original Jazz through a swap.. I definitely appreciate the quality of the original Jazz, although it is a bit mature for my tastes.. Live Jazz on the other hand seemed to be a much more modern youthful & spring/summer oriented take on the original Jazz, so it worked much better for me.. Live Jazz opens up very fresh & invigorating with a citrus & mint combo.. Mint is a very big part of Live Jazz, & it adds a cooling effect to that works perfectly in the warm weather.. As the heart notes start to come out Live Jazz becomes a bit more herbal with a prominent note of rhubarb which adds a unique touch to the fragrance, along with some coriander also known as cilantro & some wild reed.. Nevertheless Live Jazz stays very fresh, light, & transparent with the citrus & mint combo still detectable.. Live Jazz than dries down to a light woody base with hints of amber & vanilla that add a delicate sweetness to the fragrance.. Live Jazz is definitely one of those fragrances that works great when it is so hot & humid that you don't know what to wear! Live Jazz is very versatile, pleasant, yet somewhat unique in it's own right.. The original Jazz still lives on in it's "La Collection" form but unfortunately Live Jazz was recently discontinued, & I was quite upset about that! Live Jazz was never one of the popular Yves Saint Laurent fragrances, nor was it considered a masterpiece like Opium Pour Homme or M7 yet it had it's place! For what Live Jazz was, it was great! A very pleasant, refreshing, & unique spring/summer fragrance that added some Yves Saint Laurent class to those hot & humid summer days!

For the first 30 minutes, there is a very pleasant lemon and mint smell with very good projection. Then the fragrance starts transitioning to the middle notes. After 2 hours, it smells like an herbal garden with a tiny hint of the citrus lingering. The coriander is energetic, and spicy. The projection is still good. The top and middle notes are opposites. The top notes are cool and refreshing, and then the scent changes to energetic and lively. It feels like taking a relaxing lounge in a recliner, then having to get off my butt and start a workout. From 3 to 4 hours, the projection dies down and becomes a skin scent. After 4 hours, on my skin, the scent is gone. And I mean gone, no skin scent. I don’t even have a chance to smell the base notes. I am disappointed that the longevity is so bad. I only paid about $30.00 for a 3.4oz bottle, so I can’t complain about the price. The bottle is nice with the words “Live Jazz” frosted on the bottle. The sprayer is outstanding and sprays a large amount in a nice spray pattern. Even with the powerful atomizer, longevity is still poor on me. This was a blind buy. Many YouTube reviewers said this is a great mint based starter fragrance. Unfortunately, the mint only lasts a maximum of 2 hours on me, and I am being generous. Due to the poor longevity, I can’t enjoy this fragrance. What a shame.

I'm unfortunately an absolute sucker for everything YSL has discontinued. M7, Opium Pour Homme, and YSL Pour Homme are in my all-time top ten (sorry Kouros). So I was excited to finally try Live Jazz. Having worn it twice now, I can see why Live Jazz surpasses a threshold from simply smelling good to being memorably iconic for so many people, as evidenced by the other reviews here. The quality certainly keeps pace with the other bangers in the discontinued YSL lineup. Given the stiff competition in the jam-packed perfume-category that is aromatic fougeres, YSL Live Jazz is a distinct yet widely appealing designer fragrance worthy of the YSL name. Live Jazz is superbly fresh, pushing a zingy mint that persists throughout the day into a balanced, spicy base. Thankfully, it eschews the office-killer ambroxan and ozonic accords that define countless other contemporary male freshies. Live Jazz seems to have aged well, too. My own bottle, a pre-owned high partial, doesn't put off any undue sour or oxidized bitter accords that would signal a fragrance ruined by time or improper storage, and it certainly doesn't feel dated. Given Gen-Z's bourgeoning wave of appreciation for artifacts of prior generations (crappy digital cameras, 80s fashion queues) YSL could arguably bring Live Jazz back, and it would positively slay.

So ive worn this today and im seriously really liking this frag. It opens up with a VERY minty,fresh blast with some citrus in the background thats honestly 1 of the most refreshing and cooling openings Ive ever smelled. However, in the heart it becomes very herbal and green(im guessing from the rhubarb) and reminds me of passing by a tomato garden.Ill be honest this part of the fragrance is ok but only mediocre to me. About 1 hr in this hits the drydown phase and this almost goes back to smelling like it did in the opening with the Mint and citrus coming back to life, but the difference being that the vanilla/mint/citrus combo is a more smooth version of the opening. This is my favorite part of the fragrance and when I have been complimented on this its always been in the drydown. Performance on this is only average. Not good but there are worse frags. This projects for about 1hr and after that is a skin scent and lasts anywhere from 3-6 hours. All in all id rate this a 7 out of 10 ! Sidenote: This is easily my favorite mint scent and is a very under rated gem. Also GREAT for those extremely hot days that you need something thats going to be refreshing and not cloying.

Nah, don't expect too many compliments out of this one. It's simply a fresh, innoffensive juice that sticks close to the skin; nevertheless an excellent pick for hot summer days here in Brazil. At first spray, I was really scared of the coriander note, which was dominant enough to make me regret my blind purchase. It was not the case though: after two or three tries, I could notice the other ones come to play (mint and citrus especially), adding color and lightness to the juice. The rhuburb note is also pretty noticeable and delicious. I'd say it's worth a try. Now what strikes me as a mystery is why in this world YSL's marketing team thought this should be named Live Jazz... few musical styles could be more elaborated and dependent on the individual's dexterity than a Jazz piece; also, I see Jazz as an acquired taste rather than accessible music. That's not to say the juice is not good; it's pleasant indeed, but maybe it sounds more like Live Adult Oriented Rock, lol... PS: I could also notice the discreet notes of vanilla and nutmeg while cooking this morning, which made it even more appealing. Thumbs up!

Major mojito letdown. This had the makings of a great alternative light summer scent for me, but it began to wear out its welcome. The lemon in the top is realistic but rather sickly because of the cilantro and spearmint that hold ruthless dominion over the whole progression. I feel that other herb mixtures would have been less tiresome. The alcohol also persists pretty badly. The scent is fresh, but it's TOO fresh, sharp and cold; an herbal mess. It finally starts to warm up a little, and resembles the later stages of CK One with its sort of floral mustiness, though with a little extra redeeming lime. When I sniff the spot I sprayed, my throat burns a little with something like frosty licorice. Later in the drydown, if I can still smell it at all, it reminds me of that little bowl with all the herbs for a recipe mixed together, ready for the chef to dump into the pot all at once, including more metallic anise than I ever want to see again in such a light cheery scent. However, one thing that I will give it, is the fact that it never gets too sweet at any point, which is noteworthy.

Live Jazz opens with huge dose of cilantro along with some sour citrus but the star of the whole scent is the cilantro. I don’t notice that much change in the scent as time goes, from start to finish the citrus drops when mid comes and there is bit of a sweet amber in the drydown giving some warmth to the scent, otherwise it is mostly balmy coriander. Sillage is borderline great on my skin, getting wafts of it quite often; longevity is really good but my skin does retain scents usually well so there is that. I find Live Jazz to be mostly summer scent, there just isn’t enough warmth/sweetness to be neither spring nor autumn fragrance. Casual wear is what I have been using this for, it’s somewhat inoffensive but cilantro isn’t the easiest scent to deal with though I'm not big fan of it and I can wear this with no problems. Overall I find Live Jazz to be fresh summer scent for cilantro lovers with some additional notes on the side; great performance but quite monotone with scent and usage.

The third iteration of Jazz, Live Jazz, released in 1998, a decade after the original, is a significant departure from the original and Jazz Prestige in that it's much fresher and less spicy. It opens with a citrus lemon/grapefruit mix and mint, drying down into a slightly herbal heart with some punch via coriander, and finally a base of cedar and ambergris. As with the other Jazz renditions, the woody notes stand out most in the dry down, which in this case is the cedar. With Live Jazz, versatility is up but performance, masculinity, and a semblance of a more classic style are each lower. It's a trade-off that makes Live Jazz more pleasing to most, even for use by women, but will undoubtedly turn away those that enjoy the spiciness of the original and especially Jazz Prestige. Still, Live Jazz is a very pleasant, mildly fresh and woody blend that serves its purpose---a modern take on the more classic fragrance. 7 out of 10

Live Jazz has a a really alluring opening. The mint to me is done right (nothing to do with Crest or Colgate here). The trio of citrus, mint and rhubarb play nicely off of each other, giving this scent a very refreshing vibe. The arrival of the coriander takes this scent in a spicy and earthy direction. I love how that with Live Jazz the opening of citrus and mint remains as the other notes appear (keeping in true fougere style). As this scent finally settles down we are treated to an amber, vanilla and cedar finish. The base of this scent helps round it out while still maintaining its' citrusy freshness. Live Jazz is perfect for those warm Saturdays, when you do not know what you want to do, but you know you want to be outside! Wear this under a v-neck t as you debate with your better half if you want to start out with brunch, or go straight to the open air market.

This is a refreshing one! I can't see why many people find fault with this fragrance. The opening is mint and grapefruit, very zingy and fresh, and perfect for hot weather I should imagine. This is the fragrance that brings to mind sipping cocktails on the beach, or coming in from the hotel swimming pool on a hot day. Very inoffensive. Yes it dries down to rhubarb and coriander, but that isn't a bad thing here! So maybe this "vegetable" thing (which I don't get here by the way) seems to turn people off but to me this shouts out "I'm fresh"! Personally I think you could do a lot worse than wear this on a spring/summer day. Plus, it's YSL and it's at an affordable price for such a house. I find it ideal for the hot weather! I believe that there is always an ideal situation for every fragrance... give this a try on a hot day by the pool and you'll see what I mean.

An almost typical citrusy summery opening that is made interesting by the rhubarb note which adds a curious vegetable taste. The overall effect borders on the mundane but succeeds to escape it, though does not risk venturing in Eau d'Hermes land (for example) either. This indecisiveness (am i playing the Eau du Sauvage citrus game, should i dirty myself up a bit the Monsieur Balmain way, or should i go all nuts like Guerlain's MdM) is actually what prevents me from loving this instance from one of my favorite houses. Live Jazz is just OK, nothing more. Yes the rhubarb/coriander note is interesting, but the overall ensemble does not deliver. It's a good fragrance nonetheless, and actually one of my few bottles (of around 200) that are half empty, hm, go figure :) ***(**)

The top notes are great, fresh and spicy, probably a little bit too spicy but still good, however the mint... the mint makes the scent like a giant toothpaste... And the toothpaste smell is really strong and long lasting. I love the base note, warm, thick, gentle and a bit of subtle sexy (even though it took me almost 6 hours to get rid off the curse of toothpaste...) Since the scent is not that masculine as its original version I'd like to recommend this to other twenty-something girls who may want to try some fun and different things. This is a great fragrance for summer and sunny days, though personally I'd like to wear this in some cold and gloomy days. lol

When the pallid liquid has dried down well And the lemony assault has ceased its surge Crisp and herbaceous it starts to smell Faint woody base notes at the last emerge. When an hour or two have come and gone And the once Lively Jazz is all but dead I feel the need to put gallons more on As the last note lowers its feeble head. If only this juice lasted hours longer Had more woods and was a whole lot stronger.

The longevity of this one is really poor on my skin, which is a shame, as it's a great smelling frag. It opens with a zesty citrus accompanied by eucaliptus/mint. Unfortunately - the fragrance doesn't last, and after 2 hours it is totally gone. smell: 8,5/10 sillage: 5/10 longevity: 3/10 I don't regret buing this one (only 30$ paid for a 100ml bottle), but i don't think i will be buying Live Jazz ever again. I still have about 30ml in the bottle and i am only using it for my running sessions. It suits my training perfectly - it is green, fresh, and gives me more energy.
