This perfume doesn’t just smell like roses, it feels like stepping into a room draped in deep crimson velvet, where Turkish roses reign with absolute authority. One spray and you’re met with a rose so pure, so unapologetically itself, that it stops you mid‐breath. It’s crimson, velvety, opulent, rich, and unmistakably sensual, the kind of rose that doesn’t simply bloom, but leans in, brushes your skin, and whispers its presence. No sugar, no jam, no fruit syrup, no modern gimmicks. Just the rose, in its most regal, theatrical, full‐bodied form, blooming with the confidence of something adored for centuries. What makes it unforgettable is the way it carries itself. This rose doesn’t shout, it commands. It has that aristocratic confidence of something fully aware of its own beauty, never needing to prove a thing. The scent unfurls around you with a controlled, elegant force, a presence that fills the room without ever tipping into excess. It’s poised, enveloping, unmistakably there, the difference between being loud and being effortlessly magnetic. And let’s make one thing clear: this is not your typical rose‐patchouli combo. There’s no syrupy sweetness, no muddy darkness, no patchouli trying to steal the spotlight. Here, patchouli is used with restraint and intention, earthy, velvety, almost textural. It acts as a fixative, a grounding base that lets the rose rise higher, glow brighter, and last longer. It’s the stage floor beneath the velvet curtains, not a competing performer. The rose stays the star, and patchouli simply ensures the show never ends. And then there’s the performance. Nuclear. The kind of longevity that clings to your skin, your clothes, your memory. Hours later, it’s still there, unfolding like a rose that refuses to wilt. People will smell it before they see you, and they’ll remember it long after you’ve left. It’s not just strong, it’s enduring, like a rose carved into velvet. Velours Flamboyant Rose isn’t merely a rose perfume. It’s a tribute to the majesty of roses, a reminder of how breathtaking, how dramatic, how utterly captivating a true Turkish rose can be when it’s allowed to take center stage. It’s the kind of scent that makes you pause and think, “This is what rose was always meant to be.”

Since the day I bought it about a month ago this scent makes my feel so happy and optimistic like no one else. This rose is so fresh and natural smelling, not too sweet, not too dark, just a lush blooming rose with a dew on its petals. I believe some spicy undertones (patchouli?) make it smell very elegant and unisex, 24/7. I adore this rose and highly recommend it. Sillage and longevity are brilliant.

@DiligentOtter Looks like you copied my post from the Rose Lovers' Thread. And your review doesn't say anything about the perfume. Have you really tried?

I tried it by chance, and the fragrance is truly beautiful.

If you are extremely confused by numerous YSL's perfumes named Velours, it's ok. It's ok to be mad and confused. I know I was, when a year ago I stumbled across a random tiny decant labeled "YSL Velours", discovered that that was the most beautiful thing I ever smelled, bought a perfume named "Velours" on YSL's website, and realized that the perfume I received has zero things in common with the perfume I fell in love with, and then was stuck with a $300+ perfume I didn't care for because I couldn't return an opened box. 1) Original Velours (Vanille - Bois Ambres) from 2016. Ombre bottle, fading from black to purple-ish, black label. Smells like iris, charred vanilla, helium balloons, and someone my mother would be proud of. This is THE ONE. 2) Rouge Velours (Rose - Patchouli) from 2021. Red liquid, white label. This is your basic bitch rose-patchouli fragrance. Nice and boring, and has been done hundreds of times before. 3) Velours Flamboyant Rose. Because the previous one was modest? Whatever. Even redder liquid, black label. Smells 100% identical to #2.
