001: SYNTH AURA

It feels like a compressed charge of powder and metal, poised rather than eruptive—latent, controlled, precise. Some fragrances don’t tell a story; they convey an aesthetic. Synth Aura, along with the other pieces in this collection, belongs to a new generation of perfumes that no longer seek nature as it is, but rather an enhanced, filtered version of it—in this case refracted through light, warm sand, and metallic surfaces. It’s like opening the door to a futuristic room and stepping into a portal: cold air, pressed fabrics, suspended iris dust, and a milky glow reminiscent of flowers grown in the desert. This is a fragrance that doesn’t aim to be realistic, but synthetic in the most poetic sense possible. As with the other pieces I own from this line, I didn’t rush to buy it when it first launched, even though I enjoyed the tester and had already identified its core material. Time—and winter sales—did the rest. I eventually brought it home at a ridiculously good price, and only then began to understand its quiet confidence. The opening is immediate, cold, almost icy. A vegetal, earthy iris—nearly carrot-like, faintly bitter—sets the tone, layered with a floral brightness that recalls aldehydes, lily of the valley, and violet. A brief mentholated, camphoraceous flash cuts through the composition like a breath of cold air. Fleeting, but unmistakable. Behind the rigid iris that will dominate throughout, subtle vibrations oscillate between freshly ironed linens, sun-warmed sand, and the sterility of a disinfected space. The impression is mineral, almost cement-like. This is the beginning of an abstract journey—conceptual rather than emotional. As the top notes recede, a contemporary iris emerges at the heart. The fragrance settles into a musky, woody, violet register, shedding some of its initial bitterness. The central note is a modern orris: dry, powdery, faintly woody. An imaginary flower—neither sweet nor classic—mineral, resinous, and deliberately restrained. The iris becomes granular, sandy, dusty; less earthy, more cosmetic, though in a minimal, modern way. It is buttery without ever drifting into lipstick territory. In this phase, it briefly recalls certain violet–musk accords from haute parfumerie. In case you were wondering, it has nothing to do with Dior Homme Original (2011) Eau de Toilette or similar iris-centric fragrances.There is also a soft suede-like nuance here, lending smoothness without tipping into animalic leather. The overall sensation is plush yet luminous, clean yet substantial. The aura expands steadily, present but never intrusive. It feels deliberate. Controlled. Modern. Without radically shifting its identity, the drydown evolves into an almost abstract wood layered with clean-skin sensations. Transparent, radiant musks dominate the base, intertwined with creamy synthetic woods—suggestive of sandalwood, but rendered in an abstract, glassy form. Throughout, a persistent echo of iris remains, carrying the composition to its conclusion. The result is reassuring and contemporary, but far from a minimalist skin scent: there is density here, diffusion, and a quiet sense of presence. A brief note on the listed ingredients helps clarify this effect. Santalfleur, a molecule with floral, muguet, and aldehydic facets, is used here not as a floral accent but as an abstract sandalwood impression—creamy yet transparent, more polished than milky. Solarys, a solar-floral molecule, contributes a luminous, jasmine-like glow without sweetness, reinforcing the clean, futuristic character of the composition. Together, they shape a woody–musky violet trail reminiscent of far more expensive niche offerings. On my skin, longevity is moderate: after several hours, it remains detectable, though close to the skin. Projection, however, is consistent—noticeable without ever becoming aggressive. It performs even better on clothes. This is a fragrance you can clearly smell, not a whispery skin scent. Spring and autumn feel like its natural habitat, though I find it particularly compelling in colder weather, where its nuances of cold concrete, glacial iris, and clean musks truly shine. It can also work in summer, preferably in the evening. Office-appropriate, ideal for relaxed meetings, quiet dinners, or simply at home for those drawn to clean, modern aromas. Unisex, refined, and distinctly forward-looking. While not as disruptive or dystopian as 004 Ultra Glitch, Synth Aura stands as a small manifesto of molecular perfumery: an iris that renounces romanticism to embrace the future, built from cold powders, hi-tech musks, and abstract woods. Zara seems to have added yet another gem to its line up, hope it doesn't become short lived. It roots back to Frank Voelkl's Adr_ett by Nomenclature (2015), which again he himself mastered in You by Glossier (2017), which must have inspired Fleur de Peau by Diptyque (2018) and around same time Jerome Epinette created the Zara bangers that were White Soho (2019) and shortly after Vibrant Leather Warm (2020 and re-release in 2024), in 2023 Sonic Flower by Room 1015 went viral using the same DNA again by Jerome Epinette. Then Ella K - Musc K (2023) came around on the niche realm. Among these You, Fleur de Peau, Sonic Flower and Musc K were lucky enough to make headlines and became TikTok / Insta sensations (as they were "niche", whatever that means nowadays...) Now; 001: SYNTH AURA definitely opens up in the same area code, that slightly vegetal, slightly bitter carrot seed and powdery/earthy orris laid over florals that is floral aldehydes (lily) and violets. I get a certain camphor or mint freshness too in a flash. At the heart and base we can assume there's an abundance of Iso E Super and skin-like musks, let's not forget tonka/coumarin for the gourmand-almond aspects. Jerome Epinette, Frank Voelkl or Daniela Andrier would be my perfumer guesses if I smelled this scent blindly with zero information in advance. In 20-30 minutes the scent loses that initial "earthy vegetal orris" character and leans "woody floral powdery violet" musky - here I definitely get more Daniela Andrier, a master of woody violet-musk (most of her Prada Infusions, Prada Candy, Armani He/She comes to mind). Personally I smell a modernized version of Armani He (or Code, which followed the same violet-musk DNA) at this later stage and it's very, very good. Shortly after 001: SYNTH AURA released, Nishane released their new fragrance, Meant To Be Seen, for 345 eur. Put those both side by side and you'll find striking similarities too. So conclusion is, this fragrance is a 15 eur gem (currently on discount). Once again, proves a good fragrance doesn't come with a crazy price tag, a good fragrance is a good fragrance. And please, let's stop calling any violet/iris-musk concoction a "skin scent". This is a proper, complex perfume that has nothing "skin scent" about it, it radiates, it smells densely of violet-musk for the most part. It is not hard to smell either, 99% of people including the wearer would smell its full profile through and through.

The only fragrance I agree with in "reminds me of" is Meant to be seen from Nishane (perfumer is Jordi Fernandez... who does a lot of Zara's other incredible fragrances like Immortal Vanilla, so I wouldn't be surprised if he did this one too - their website doesn't say), but I also get strong similarities to D'orsay Sur tes Levres and Ella K Musc K. Meant to be seen (much like this) treats the Iris in a way that has an almond-y feel to it (theres tonka in MTBS, but no mentin of tonka in this one). I love, love, love this. All of these niche fragrances that it's comparable to are achingly expensive. This competes head to head with those, so I can confirm that this smells 10 x more expensive than it is. Yet another 10/10 from Zara. Also, while this is found in the men's section, I'm a woman and this is completely unisex. I have a rule that I don't buy back-up bottles... but Im breaking it for this, because Zara will probably discontinue it. Do NOT sleep on this. Also, this smells nothing like the Prada Irises, I can only imagine that the people putting that there have never smelled the niche references I'm referring to.

As an iris lover (I guess I’m kind of an iris collector by now) I couldn’t pass on this one. Smelled it at Zara today and I liked it. Iris in this one is powdery, creamy and a bit “cold” to my nose. I love the iris in this one. Deffinetely woody and I can swear there is suede in this one all thought not listed. I don’t get lots of solars but that can be just me since the only other solar scent I own is Nettare di sole by Guerlain and they have nothing in common. There is something really “Iris hand cream” like in this one probably the musk + sandalwood + musk combo. Easy to wear lasts a lot stays with moderate projection. Soapy, clean slightly woody iris. Nothing groundbreaking but still really enjoyable. It does smell familiar to Prada Iris accord not the same as Prada infusion d iris accord tho. Never smelled the infusion d homme so I can’t really tell. If you like iris you are probably gonna like this one. Next one for me to try is romance d iris hope it’s also good..

Upon first sniff, it's very clean. It kind of reminds me of Cacharel's Noa but made more unisex. I get a lot of the white floral. Not much of the iris, but I need more time with it. Will update in a few weeks. But off the bat it's a really nice clean musky unisex scent.

Beautiful sexy but elegant scent, it really reminds me prada fragrances but better. Lasts forever on clothes, and about 8 hours on my skin. Very refined, elegant, addictive. Completely unisex in my opinion. Love it on myself, but also on my husband.

Reminds me of CDG's Series 6 Synthetic Dry Clean. Very similiar profile except instead of faint airy rose accord, this has iris. Also almost identical to infusion Homme Prada

Quite cold and raw molecular iris(nothing to do with Prada's),just like cement or concrete on my skin with good performance.My favourite from the dystopian collection.

Ladies and GENTLEMEN, this fragrance is sooo nostalgic and great; it smells so fresh, and I guarantee you this is a compliment getter in all seasons.

Actually I am smelling a mix of WO/01 Somewoody and WO/03 Cafe et Cedre, which I didn't like on its own but Synth Aura is pleasant to me.

Clean, dry and hot, synthetic iris - fully unisex. Smells to me like ironed clothes with hot sandish twist.

A clean, non-offensive, office friendly floral fragrance. The key player here is a strong, sharp and slightly soapy iris note. This one reminds me of the iris note in Prada L’Homme without any of the supporting notes. It’s very synthetic but that’s actually not a bad thing here, this thing lasts over 12 hours on my skin. Good for layering and boosting the longevity and projection of other iris-based fragrances.

Playdough-like iris, powdery and creamy, and definitely bright. I personally don't seem to get resemblance to Prada L'homme, or Luna Rossa which I had thoroughly enjoyed in my college years. Hedione still remains in the drydown along with transparent powderiness from iris. I like it.

I agree with seversky when he says this smells like a cross between somewoody and café et cedre, even though to me this leans way more towards café et cedre. Good performance, pleasant yet strange smell, a bit "sterile".

Update on my old review: After smelling Astral Veil by the same line they're sort of similar in what they're trying to achieve. This one feels like a more polite and less piercing version of Astral Veil.

First few minutes are like coming from a dry cleaning place, then it becomes clean an mature. Smells like you have your things in order. Prada/Hermes vibe.

This one smells very fresh, clean and musky-floral. I bought it for the out-of-shower-before-going-to-bed-routine, but actually don’t use it on skin at all but as a spray for the bedroom. Very potent, one spritz will fill the whole room for hours.

It smells extremely clinical & sterile in a way - kind of reminds me of a doctor's office or an actual clinic and that's not a positive in my mind. If you want to remind people of traumatic / bad memories from hospitals & doctor appointments then definitely get it, if not then stay away from it.

It is definitely more female fragrance than male. It opens with strong metallic lipstick iris. I compared it to Prada, and didn't find them similar. I did not wear it to public. Nevertheless, It is okay for me, but it is definitely for iris fans.

It doesn’t smell lively nor fresh, wood and floral at all. It smells just like its collection name Dystopia. It’s like smelling the air of the smoky town, burning plastic and metal alike. Maybe it’s too modern for me.

Blind bought based on notes and reviews. Surprise! A 25% concentration parfum gives skin scent performance. Composition: oriental fougere with a main theme of Sandalwood and Iris on a bed of soap clean Amber. Opens with starchy Iris lightened by the citrus facets of miguet, then gradually a hot-iron musk picks up together with a very prominent and to me delicious synthetic sandalwood note and lands squarely on the doorstep of Prada Amber pour Homme, where everything resolves into a soapy musky amber. Everything is low-res blurry with only the muguet breathing some air and anticipated contrast in the composition. I don't perceive any Jasmine and I don't know what might be reffered to as "solar notes". Also, this is not minimalism people. It is simply a quiet perfume. I don't regret my purchase, mainly because I love the specific sandalwood note which reminds me a lot of Genetic Bliss. I just wish it projected more but it is what it is. I'm going to be using it up quite fast as a 15 euros substitute for Prada Amber pour Homme that I can douse myself with daily but don't be fooled, this is not edgy or niche smelling. It is quite simplistic and the 25% essence is 99% bs.

I’ve been wearing this fragrance a bit too often lately, and I keep getting this image when wearing it, of a quiet and empty cold waiting room with metallic walls and light gray industrial flooring. It is quiet, cold and spacious. I love it and I love this vibe it gives with mixing it with any fragrance. I’ve so far wore it with Dior Homme intense and loved it. Wore it again with Armani code and loved it. Stunning iris perfume😍 Unfortunately though I didn’t find it in any Zara branch I went to in the UK, I am too scared that it is discontinued 😭 I wish if I got another bottle

Found out about this scent through a female friend who wears it after shower, checked the notes on here and knew straight away I as going to love it. It’s a fresh iris and sandalwood fragrance, I regularly wear it after shower and layer with other perfumes. Don’t expect a strong fragrance with longevity, this one is dry close to the skin, you’ll need to spray few times during the day for a longer performance I guess. For the price, I’m happy with it, makes me feels fresh and ready for the day

Bought mine for 15 Euro on sale at Zara. For that price is totally worth it for daytime office wear and all year round. Smell of clean iris and musk kinda similar but of course lower quality than Prada Lhomme edt. Bottle is nice and pressurized atomizer. The concentration is perfume but in my case the longevity is modest at best with a couple of hours with very close projection and mind you I am a heavy sprayer. Good for once purchase but wont likely purchase again.

to me it smells soapy and clean, lot of iris and base of sandalwod, simple but elegan at the same time , i think it could be compared to prada l'homme but the latter is soapier. moderate longevity and projection. good frag for the office to smell clean and professional. unisex slightly leaning M

Its the same scent as somewoody, which they released 2 years ago if I remember it correctly. I cannot believe nobody noticed it before. Yet again they recycled the same notes and same fragrance and sold it in another bottle. I am done with Zara

I get Another13 vibe with the salty and weird but addictive skin scent. Having too many skin scent perfumes that I will not be able to use up, so will not buy this one, but definitely a good one from the line

Synthetic, good longevity and projection. Smells celan. Gives lots of compliments. Worth the price.
