Actin' Out

I have the complete new Zara Collection tester sets. So I will review them all. This one is oke. A very youthful mandarin kind of frag. Great for springtime. Nothing to crazy. Does the job. Great for youngsters. Overall a 6,5 out of 10. This has the "poopy-oudy" quality that WO/01 Somewoody lacks if it tried to be a direct copy of Alexandria II. Layer Somewoody over this or Black Pepper & Cedarwood and voila! As jman2k said - on its own is rather meh (manly but synthetic), however it fulfills its role as a layering scent.

Tested in store. Dominant sharp chemical-like citrus top note with some underlying spice for depth. Works well and reminds me of Givenchy Gentleman.

This is just as others said, a fresh cologne-like frag, with weak citrus performance that rapidly evolves to a base of Iso E Super and stays like that for hours. As a fragrance, it has little value, of course. But it can be used as a layering base for other weak fragrances in order to make them last longer. You apply this one first, wait some 15 minutes, and once the citrus is gone, you apply the other fragrance you want to make last and voila! you get a cheap fragrance extender. Let me know with your votes how this works for you, if you decide to test it.

I liked this one the first time I wore it, but the times since I've been really bored by it. It smells good, but it's simple. It's woodsy with just a slight orange note. I think this one could be ok for layering.

I bought the Day collection sampler from Zara and I suggest you do the same, before buying full-size bottles. Although Zara fragrances are 'cheap' you might be tempted to buy a full-size bottle on the first sniff (which is exactly the marketing idea here). Testing these in real life on skin for scent, projection and longevity will give you a far better idea if this is a good bang for your buck. Acting out: sharp unpleasant mandarin opening (one of those scents in which the aroma chemicals are so weak they are overtaken by the alcohol whiff). After the first minute, the mandarin is already gone and you're stuck in the base: cedar woodsy but in a very mild concentration with some weak spices. What remains in the base smells like generic soap to me: there is simply nothing here that stands out to pick up on. A cheap handsoap is the only thing I can think about. As usual, with Zara fragrances projection and longevity are a problem: unless you would hit yourself with several sprays each hour, I doubt other people can even pick up on this unless they put their nose on your skin. Although it's cheap, I consider it pricey for what it is: you could buy a cheaper bar of soap with more scent concentration. Definitely one of the worst performers and scents of the Zara Day Collection. I can only recommend this if you want to wear the most near unnoticeable and generic scents. My favorite so far from recent Zara fragrances was 'Tie and Dye' which has more 'oomph' to it. If you can't resist buying Zara, try 'Tie and Dye' from the Denim collection, which gives you a better bang for your buck.
