Cherry Stain 01 Deep Wild Gourmand

The opening is a nice cherry, nicer and less cough syruppy like Tom Ford's lost cherry in my opinion, I think it's due to the cherry blossom and oud notes that are present since the beginning and help anchor the cherry so it doesn't go all cough medicine-y. As other reviews state, the cherry opening lasts for a short while and you're left with a sweet cherry blossom and soft oud. There has to be a small amount of vanillin in there because I do get a bit of vanilla in the drydown but it's not front and center, reminds me of rouge smoking in the drydown but without the overbearing almond. I like this more than Rouge smoking.

It's cool and pleasant, but I was hoping for more cherry. Also, what is it with Zara in these recent releases gaslighting us with the note of 'oud' when it's more of a leather? They did the same with Blackberry Oud.

I also think it is cherry and leather and I also like it more than stain 2. Unfortunately the cherry goes away in a few minutes, but the drydown is great. And if you think about Cherry Punk, it vanishes very quickly, too.

Mine arrived yesterday along, I bought both variants so only did a very quick skin test to try them as bought blind. Initial impression was quite sickly in the opening, a more artificial cherry. But over time the sweetness wore off completely and the musky oud element was quite dominating. My lesser fave of the two on first try but will try again later to wear properly. It is nice though don't get me wrong and certainly leans more lighter in terms of wear on the skin.

Not that much cherry to my nose. There is a very prominent leather note. It's in the same category as Azzaro Most Wanted Elixir or Tom Ford Eau d'Ombré Leather. Not that it smells the same as those two but it has the same idea of something sweet (here a dark cherry) + a smooth, jacket-like, leather note. Performance isn't the best which is a disappointment, a scent DNA like this should be a bit in-your-face but maybe it's more wearable like this.
