Floating Around

I have the complete new Zara Collection tester sets. So I will review them all. I like the smell of this one the most. My gf even gave me a compliment. Most Zara fragrances don't get compliments from her. Only this one lacks performance really bad. I would have give this one the number 1 spot. But I can't. After 30 minutes you hardly can smell anything. But it smells really good. Overall a 7 out of 10. Day Collection: worst = No Plans, best = Stormy Day Night Collection: worst = Night Skyline, best = Midnight Hour Denim Collection: worst = Dark Wash, best = Frayed Edge

This is my favorite of the Zara Day Collection. It's heavy on the ambroxan and lavender, so it definitely goes in the same category as sauvage and carbon. Not a good performer, but it smells good for the short time.

The drydown smells like shaving foam mixed with whipped cream (in a good way).

As usual, Zara lures you in with an attractive price and bottle BUT (and there's a big BUT here): the opening is quite attractive, with mainly pleasant lavender and some spices BUT it's over in less than a couple of minutes. Then you get this ambery, ambroxan base but here the poor chemical concentration shows: no depth, no longevity, hardly even projection unless you go very heavy on the sprayer (think 8 sprays plus). Makes me think of Dior Sauvage but only when I try hard. Although it's a cheapie it's even overpriced because if you want to project at least a little you'll have to go douse yourself and apply several times throughout the day. Please resist this 'it's cheap' impulsive buying attraction (because that is what Zara is aiming for) and rather save up for one decent discounted fragrance from a designer brand, than these underperforming fast-sniff kinds of fragrances. You might be even cheaper of, because at least your bottle will last far longer. Buy one decent fragrance, instead of two Zara's... that's my take. In the long run, Zara would be better of doubling the prices of its fragrances and amp up the concentration... then Zara could be a real contender in the fragrance biz.
