Gleam Of The Moon (Into The Gourmand)

I have found a bottle of Gleam of the Moon on sale in TKMaxx for 7 euros and I knew I had to have it! It’s such a delicious, creamy, lactonic, yellow floral/rice scent with a sweet vanilla base. It’s supposed to be a dupe of Blanche Bete, that’s how I found out about it two years ago when it was released but I can’t comment on this since I haven’t gotten my nose on Blanche Bete, but as a standalone fragrance it’s pretty good. I love mimosas and I have a few mimosa flower forward fragrances in my collection but I don’t have anything with a rice note, so Gleam of the Moon really captivated my attention. I knew I am going to love it because having vanilla and mimosa in composition is a sure recipe to create a delicious floral gourmand! It’s a shame that it’s not longer available on Zara website because this kind of gem of a fragrance should be a permanent addition to their feminine fragrance line. Therefore, if you’re interested into something that sounds like a creamy, mildly sweet, vanilla/rice/mimosa perfume, check out your local TKMaxx, you might find it on a shelf for a steal of a price, like I did. The performance is quite luck lustre sadly, but I’ve got a 100 ml bottle for less than 10 euros so I don’t mind spraying heavily to make it last a bit longer. Lasts only around 4 hours on my skin. But for that price it doesn't bother me overspraying. Gleam of the Moon is an absolute treasure of a scent!

We’re all here. You’re in good company. As I was saying, if you have been in the fragrance game for more than five minutes, you already understand that you can either have your perfumes or wear them. But you can’t have both. Undoubtedly, we have all encountered a perfume that has made us painfully aware of this truism. We all have met a fragrance that was a splurge or is discontinued and has torn us asunder simultaneously wanting to wear that scent all day every day but keep that perfume forever. I am in the lucky unlucky position to have quite a few of these sorts of perfumes in my collection. It’s with a heavy heart filled with joy that I say that Zara’s Gleam of the Moon, is now part of my list. This scent could convince anyone that beauty exists on a plane we are lucky to fleetingly observe. Don’t go looking for it- as I said, it’s discontinued. You’ll invite trouble into your life.

Such a yummy, creamy, sweet but not too sweet scent. The rice and vanilla play off each other very nicely - rice pudding is an accurate description. This perfume is light and cozy, even with those notes it veers more into skin scent than gourmand. I actually get a bit nose blind to this, but my sisters think I smell amazing when I put this on. I’m not sure if this is the mimosa or because of the laconic element to the fragrance, but there is also a bit of a light coconut element to it. I could honestly see this perfume being worn any season, any time of day. Very office friendly, but not something everyone else will be wearing. If I didn’t know better I would guess this perfume would be a milky white color vs transparent. One of the most unique and versatile Zara fragrances I own!

Creamy vanilla-rice pudding with the mimosa note on top! It's slightly powdery, cozy. When I tried it the first time without knowing the notes, it strongly reminded me of coconut milk, but the more I wear it the more the rice note seems to appear. At the very end of the day of wearing it the drydown seems similar to the vanilla of Zaras "Friday" perfume (80% the same, same family, not the same perfume!), I'm guessing they used the same vanilla for them both. It was a lucky find since I wanted to get Crystal Noir, I love it on paper but the perfume leaves a weird cat piss+fecal smell on my skin, it's not the same perfume obviously, but it is a nice coconut sub for me and my skin chemestry. (Gleam of the moon is not as much of a night out perfume as CN, more like everyday wear)

I just noticed a couple of mixed reviews on this. I got the bottle as soon as it came out. I was testing all of the Christmas line and this one stood out to me the most. The package was super cute and the name pulled me in even more. When it comes to strength wise, it kind of reminds me of Hypnotic vanilla by Zara but way more softer and less strong which I love. My parents told me it smelt like cookies once it settled down on my skin and it compliments it in a nice way. I totally get the powdery whiff, especially if you spray a lot. I didn't really notice grandma-like scent. It smells yummy and creamy and it lasted on me till the next day. If you let it marinate for longer, it's gonna turn into really sweet mix of rice and coconut pudding.

This is not a dupe of Blanche Bete. Right now I have BB on my left and GOTM on my right hand, and they have only some small smiliarities. BB has a very musky/plasticky opening that I find a bit harsh at first, but it mellows down into a luxurious complex scent of fresh linen/White florals/lactonic vanilla mix that lasts and projects amazingly. GOTM is at the beginning very sweet, floral and a bit lactonic, but doesnt last very long and has this very distinguished Zara note that I can sense im almost every perfume that they make (exception are those from Silent Flowers series by Jo Malone). I still like it, but its really quite different than Blanche Bete, so if you want a clone, this is not it

It's so sad sooooo nice scents to be discontinued..... An interesting fragrance from Zara, a true gem, very elegant, original, tender and comforting. The fun part is that I discovered that the recent release by Guerlain "Aqua Allegoria Florabloom Forte" (2024) is almost identical (95%) to Zara's "Gleam of the Moon" which was released a year ago (2023)!!! Even though the notes are completely different the end result is very close. (Let's say we have a dupe from Guerlain here of a Zara perfume! 😅 LOL) I do prefer GOTM over Florabloom because it's creamier (suntan-like) and more lactonic, rather than heavy on flower and sharper as the latter is.

Ok so when I got this when it first released I surprisingly didn’t like it. Even though everyone compared it to a delicious bowl of vanilla rice pudding, something about it was off to me and gave me a horrible headache. It’s now about 5 months later and the fragrance has matured into something beautiful. I can smell the mimosa flower, the rice is creamy and pudding like and whatever was originally wrong with the formula has dissipated and now no longer gives me a headache. It’s beautiful and unique for a cheap Zara fragrance. This beauty just had to age a bit longer to show it’s true uniqueness.

Deliciously sweet and savory at the same time without being cloying at all. It's not identical to Scarlet poppy but they're definitely quite similar. Stellar performing! Great longevity and projects good too. Very interesting and unique perfume. I actually would go for this instead of Scarlet poppy because it lasts muuch longer. I love gleam of the moon! Unfortunately I bet it's discontinued already... Anyway, I want to see more savory perfumes on the market! Hope this will be the next trend. If you know some good ones, feel free to write to me!

I definitely see a similarity with Scarlet Poppy here! I wanted to love Scarlet poppy so much, but something in it did not work with my skin. However, Gleam of the moon does work amazingly and regarding the price tag I could not be happier. To me it is very rounded, not too heavy, sweet but not too sweet scent that would be perfect for fall/winter. It is pretty linear, nothing surprising, but the notes works together well. Also, the longevity surprised me as it is very good.

I don't get any powderyness from this. To me this is nutty, coconut possibly, but definitely nutty and sweet. But its not like any perfume I've ever smelt before, it's so hard to describe. I love it though. Longevity is fantastic on my skin, even better on my hair and clothes, could smell it on my hair for days when ever I moved, until I washed it. The collar of my coat still smells of it a week later, just from it rubbing against my neck whilst I was wearing the perfume.

I rushed out to smell all of the 4 fragrances released in this line. This was the standout fragrance for me. It smells very “clean” I personally get a very light and creamy coconut with the rice and vanilla coming through also. Someone else said rice pudding and I completely agree with that, but it’s not too sweet. It lasts well too for me. As a lot of Zara perfumes are dupes, I’d be really interested to know what this is meant to be a dupe of.....does anyone know? 🤔

Gleam of the Moon is always going to be one of my favourite discontinued scents. It’s cozy, dreamlike and sweet in a smooth way instead of something overly sugary. You clearly get the rice, which for me, smells like something vaguely savoury that combats the sweetness into something calming! It does kind of remind me of Kenzo Amour, but in a much more dialled down, youthful way. They’re reminiscent, but definitely not the same!

Very feminine, cosy, smooth , comforting scent with surprisingly great sillage and longevity. Rice note pairs beautifully with mimosa. More suitable for colder weather than warm temperatures. It's quite strong scent, especially after maceration, so heavy handed perfume enthusiasts need to go light with this one .

I love this perfume! It definitely reminds me of Scarlett poppy(I have both) I wouldn’t say it’s a dupe, more like cousins. It’s soft sweet. I feel like you can wear in the spring or fall. Love it

When I first sprayed this, it smelled very close to Scarlet Poppy. Now that I've had it for a week, the notes have changed a little (yes, weird!) and it's a bit more playdoh-y smelling somehow.

I feel luckly that I ve found a full bottle, it works better than blanche bête on my skin, but sillage and longevity are weak

This is a great dupe for Jo Malone’s Scarlet poppy!

I blind bought hoping to find a good blend of mimosa and rice note since lately I am very intrigued by rice powder blended with flowers, which is usually jasmine, or even tea but Gleam of the moon is not a powdery rice and I don't smell the mimosa at all; it is still a very good fragrance, the opening is 100% rice pudding, creamy, steamy and lactonic on top of sweet, intense vanilla. The blend is enriched with just a touch of heliotrope or hawtorn flowers, and in the opening there is a slight boozy impression. The dry down is first of light and airy vanilla, similar 90% to the dry down of Zara Femme, Femme Winter and Tuberose Winter, then the vanilla gets more warm and heavy, similar to the common base of the new Zara Vanilla series. A touch of woodiness is there throughout all the evolution of the fragrance, probably sandalwood which smells a bit coconutty, reminiscent of Zara own Nuit and Versace Crystal Noir. All in all I enjoy the fragrance, but it has a much common dna in Zara catalogue, very similar to Violet Vanilla Orchid, Femme and Femme Winter, Mochi Atelier in Paris, Friday- Freaking Gorgeous, Angelic Vanilla, new version of Cherry Smoothie, Tuberose Winter, Nuit and many more. Outside Zara own fragrances, I think Gleam of the Moon is most similar to Kenzo Amour, but more creamy then powdery, it also shares some aspects of La Stanza delle Bambole by Nobile, Satine by Lalique, and with all the fragrances I see reported in the "remind me of" section.

I love lactonic frags and am really into rice at the moment (it's spring. I know I should be moving into more fresh scents, but here I am). I got a bottle used, and it's really nice. Is it the milkiest or riceyist fragrance I've ever smelled? No, it's not. It's soft and it smells very, very familiar. I can't think of what it is. It's solid. Personally, I think I like Bianco Latte (or the Dua dupe White Milk) a little more because they are stronger. BUT I'd argue that this is softer and less aggressively milky and vanilla, which makes it slightly less heavy and more spring-like. Solid but don't obsess if you can't get your hands on it - it's really good but not that great, and like most Zara frags, the longevity is pretty awful, and the silliage is minimal. 4/5 still though it is a shame that they discontinued it.

I sprayed Blanche Bete and Gleam of the Moon on each hand, and I don't think they are very similar - while BB goes in the direction of metallic milk powder forgotten in a dusty drawer, this is sweeter and more pleasant, with coconut milk, delicate vanilla and wisps of powdery rice. I also get a trace of anise, strangely enough. Whenever I think of rice in perfumery, I imagine either the creamy and savory fragrance of steamed rice, or the vanillin comfort of rice pudding - but I haven't found anything even close to those real life scents. Instead, I only found variations of Hypnotic Poison, and this is no exception - it's a thinner HP with added coconut. It's still nice and wearable, with medium longevity and soft sillage.

Blind buy based on Coco Pebz review. I usually do not like gourmand and sugary scents. I stay away from Warm Vanilla Sugar by BBW and Pink Sugar by Aqualina. While this is not really sugary, there is a sweet creaminess to this that is so comforting. I actually like this. I get a very subtle whiff of the mimosa but most of the scent is on the vanilla rice creamy note. And I don't smell the mango note either. It really does remind me of rice pudding and I don't like to smell like a pattiserie but here we are. I will try and pair this with Mimosa and Cardamom by Jo Malone. I do not get Scarlet Poppy in this at all. They are very different to my nose. I actually bought and returned Scarlet Poppy because I did not like it.

It's like a nice warm hug in winter time. Elite women with white cashmere turtlenecks wear this. It has rice and in its way it's a bit milky and lactonic. Wait for it to macerate it gets very nice perfume 10/10 for the price as well. I hope they restock it in different name . Definitely worth it. It has nice longevity around 5-6hours and close siliage. I've got many compliments wearing this.

This is like dry, fragrant rice flour. Slightly sweet, delicate, nutty and floral. It’s very pretty. Soft. Feminine. It remains unique and interesting throughout. Low sillage, sits close to the skin. A solid choice for when you want to enjoy fragrance in environments which call for discretion. I wish I had gotten a backup bottle when this was on sale. I hope Zara will bring this back.

Was scared of the "rice" note at first as I've never heard that note in a fragrance before. Smells just like everyone else is describing, creamy vanilla rice pudding with definite coconut. I feel the mix of the coconut and mimosa, makes it easy to where not only in the colder months but in the spring/summer as well! Lingevity is a good 7 hours on clothes.

It is like rice milk vanilla with a hint of coconut. I am unable to detect mimosa, which is unfortunate as I think it would make it lovelier. It is still creamy nice.

Update: I don't know how, but when I tried it again after a few months, all the hidden notes came to the surface. It is creamy, with vanilla and coconut and now is very intense. It is a very strange experience to me but looking at the comments, someone else noticed it too :O Now I am sad it is discontinued. Dec 2023: It was a blind buy - when I saw the notes I was so excited to try this. Now I'm a bit disappointed. It is not a gourmand for me, it's a very linear, clean scent. I can't recognize any of the notes listed, they are not characteristic enough. Creaminess is there, but not "rice pudding creamy", but "lotion creamy". I admit it's a pleasant fragrance, but nothing exciting, nothing memorable, just an ordinary everyday perfume. What I really don't like about it, that it is very weak and has almost no sillage. After 15 minutes I can't detect it on my skin. Recommended to those who like clean, simple scents and don't mind multiple application throughout the day.

I am a little bummed out by this. When first applied, and for the first 30 minutes, it is absolutely gorgeous, with a warm, creamy base and subtle sweet mango. I almost ran to buy a backup bottle...but I've fallen into that trap one too many times...so I waited..... After half an hour, the mango completely disappeared forever and the fragrance transformed into Zara Femme, which I already have and wear only to bed. It's a nice scent with reasonable longevity, but it's 100% Femme repackaged with a fleeting mango note, at least to my nose.

The scent itself is lovely - creamy, sweet and kinda lactonic, like a hug in a bottle. That's why I'm super mad that it doesn't last, no matter what I try - I moisturize, I overspray, I put it on clothes and in my hair and yet it is gone within an hour or so. And I know, I KNOW that you're going to say "well, what did you expect with that price" but I already own 15+ Zara fragrances and most of them have remarkable longevity on me, I am disappointed that this one does not.

Very powdery. Reminds me of Moonlit Path from BBW. Lasts pretty long.

When I first tried this in the store, I loved it. It was nicely projecting around me while shopping, but now that I have it... I am finding it sickeningly sweet. It makes me throw up even if i spray a small amount. I think I will pass it on to my mom.

The mimosa is so strong in this it overpowers everything, it is nauseating.

I blind bought this a month ago just because of the name and notes, and when I tell you I've been checking fragrantica every day to see when it will be put up on here. It's a very sweet fragrance that's also very strong, has a decent sillage for a Zara perfume and stays on clothes for weeks (sprayed it on one of my jackets two weeks ago and when I put it on today I could definitely recognise which perfume it was). I personally don't see scarlet poppy in this, I also don't agree that it smells clean. Still, it is a really nice winter scent, not too heavy not to wear in daytime. A safe blind buy for anyone who loves gourmand.

I have to say, I’m impressed. It’s a warm, cozy scent with a sweet vanilla and tonka bean mix that feels super comforting. There’s a slight floral touch from the jasmine, but it’s not overpowering—just enough to keep it balanced. The amber and musk in the base make it last pretty well on my skin, which is a nice bonus. It’s affordable but smells way more expensive than it is. Perfect for cooler weather or nights out! Reviewing this again. When I first got this, it was very faint and I didn't think very much of it except that the rice and vanilla were the only detectable notes. However, after letting this macerate for over a year, it's much stronger and a perfect simple and cosy scent for cold weather. There's something about Blanche Bete where I think it's better suited to Spring and Summer since it's lighter, milky and floral.

I totally agree with Baber’s review. Everything they described about this perfume is how I feel about it.. Blind buy here and as a owner of one umbrella for two which has a real rice scent, I must admit that It’s nowhere to be found in this perfume. It smells cute but generic and doesn’t last long. A little bit disappointed :( but Im sure some will find comfort in it.

There's a nice rice pudding type smell that I'm getting when I sprayed on a tester strip. I definitely get what people mean when they mention a playdoh-like smell. The rice pudding kinda morphs into a weird playdoh smell and then becomes a little bit overly sweet. After it dries down a little then it becomes softer and smells nice from a distance.

Good projection and very lasting formula (12hrs+), but unfortunately this on skin is so so powdery; it hurts my nose. I only wish the mimosa shined through more, because it has a super linear rice note, and becomes more coconut milk-like after some time. Smells like the method coconut and rice body wash.

Its considered to be a lighter version of Blanche Bete which i can see the little similarity but for me theres a note in this perfume which makes a bit ‘old lady smell’ to me. Longetivity on me is weak unfortunately. The Jo malone line was the last one which had great longetivity imo.

A shame that this is discontinued, and I refuse to pay £40 for a bottle of this on Vinted. But I just realized I have a close dupe of this in my collection that lasts longer - Zadig and Voltaire This is Us! Similar cozy vibes and it’s also affordable.

I had this for a few months and I get compliments when I wear it. I just received samples of Blanche Bete and I can say this is a lighter version of Blanche Bete. I wish I would have bought a back up bottle of Gleam of the Moon.

I cannot detect any mimosa, only the rice and vanilla. But this is a lovely and creamy, simple gourmand that is comforting and can be used to layer with other fragrances to bring out more vanillic depth.

This is very similar to Kilian moonlight in heaven to me but with better silage. Love it.
