Grey Soul

For me, another underappreciated gem by Zara. As the lackluster review beneath me states, this does smell like salt. It actually sort of purifies your nose when you inhale it. I do not know who reviewed this first, but it made me think this had an enormous sillage and a really long lasting smell, which seemed weird just by looking at the notes. Actually, sillage is just about a few centimetres, and longevity, just a couple of hours. But it's not made to last longer than that. This perfume is made for very specific occasions, and they all involve being around the sea. I'm from Spain, and this perfume instantly reminded me of our northern beaches, the ones in Galicia, Cantabria or Pais Vasco. Picture a beautiful little town near the coast, elegant, shaded in grey and blue, and someone smelling like this, calm. It is magnificent. The second most noticeable note is apple, but it takes a mere supporting role of the salt. Now, could you pull this off in other occasions? Sure, but my brain can only think of this one, and I like it how it is. This is my favorite in this Zara line, followed by Amber Ego. Definitely underrated scents I'm glad I've added to my collection. 7.5/10.

This fragrance really smell salt...

Please for the love of Christ do not believe the ratings on this stuff. This is my 29th bottle from the Zara house that I now have in my collection, and I can’t tell you confidently that the performance in this one is shit. And it’s not just me saying so. A couple of my buddies and I collect tons of fragrances on a monthly basis and we were all pissed with this one. Not because of the smell, this is actually quite good. It’s a clone of Armaf Hunter, or I guess Lacoste white, not an exact, but in that direction. I want anyone who is reading this to picture pouring 100 ml of water into a glass and take a very small pinch of laundry detergent, like 1/8th of a teaspoon and mix it into the water. Shake it for about a minute and what you’re left with is this stuff. Here’s the thing though that water and pinch of laundry detergent would probably last longer than this stuff. For $20 bucks it’s not too hard to swallow my disappointment; but I get rather pissed when people fuck about and rate this with a 12+ longevity and an enormous fills the room ratings. This is like a fart in the wind type of performance, poof it’s gone after release. I had to spray at least 30 times to get close to 45 minutes. Who wants to spray a cologne 30x? I wish Fragrantica would allow us to see who rates this stuff a 12 hour + longevity, I would love to send a private message and pick that persons brain. Such bullshit....I’m a logical fellow, I would think maybe there was a reformulation because I’m in such disarray and disagreement, but this stuff just got released from the Zara store last month in November. Anyway, as a member in the community who takes reviews on here seriously and tries to save others money, don’t be dumb like me a blind buy this. Spend 5 bucks more and get Armaf hunter men, Lacoste white, or even Armaf El Cielo. You’ll thank me later. Giving this a 3/10 but only because it’s smells actually good. Before anyone decides to white knight this fragrance and start trashing my review, just know this, I actually like Zara and their fragrance house. I have a store 5 minutes away from where I live, and I‘m always purchasing new fragrances on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I’m their biggest supporter, and I love it when they make a great scent, but I won’t lie on their behalf or trick others to think this is something it’s not. If you want to take your $20 bucks and purchase some laundry water, knock yourself out. At least it will be good smelling laundry water. Spray directly on clothing for any type of performance.

It's salty with a hint of apple, musky, fresh, clean, linear... a simple scent that is actually really good. Can't get safer then this. Performance is ofcourse measured in minutes, and that makes it another pointless zara fragrance. Too bad...
