Hypnotic Vanilla & Patchouli

I’ll admit that I have been sleeping on the regular ‘Hypnotic Vanilla’ for a long time. When it came out, I never bought a full bottle of it, and I only got a small bottle in a discovery box. Ironically, I had only been starting to wear it recently, when suddenly out of nowhere, the Hypnotic Vanilla Extraits showed up on the website. After having been disappointed in the Golden Decade flankers, I wouldn’t take the plunge on buying all three of them, especially seeing as there’s no discovery set, or smaller bottles. My collection has kind of grown too much to just get full bottles of everything. But when I see ‘patchouli’, of course I’m all for it – it’s my favorite note. I have to say that this fragrance definitely doesn’t disappoint me. It’s very pleasantly dark, like the bottle would suggest. It kind of toes that line where it’s different enough where it’s not really close enough to be a flanker anymore, like it could be a new fragrance on its own. But there’s still some of that Hypnotic Vanilla DNA in there that it does still make sense. I see someone comparing it to Supreme Vanilla here and while I don’t agree with it as such, I do kind of understand where the plasticy Play Doh that you get from Hypnotic Vanilla (Hypnotic Poison) mixed with the cassis gives it like an inky undertone. One downside to my bottle is that the cap is dysfunctional, like unlike other Zara bottles like this, the cap isn’t snug. It slips right off, making me wonder if I could take it with me on trips in a bag or something. I really love the fragrance, though. If it ever goes on sale – if it sticks around long enough, which I fear it might not – I might buy a backup bottle.

I love this, a lot. A deep aromatic vanilla, but then it has a juicy berry at the top, and then it’s woody and warm, and then there’s the patchouli making it a bit rough and interesting at the bottom. I am no trained nose but the sum is greater than the parts here. I wish to bathe in it. Performance is ok - not a huge trail of scent behind me, it doesn’t blast for hours, and it won’t scream your arrival into a room...but it’s a gentle fragrance noise for several hours from a high-oil content potion which makes my skin shine, at £30 for 50ml.

soo good. sweet and minty, cooling in a way. i love patchouli so i blind bought this and i adore it. i also love hypnotic vanilla so this is amazing. it doesn't last that long unfortunately.

This smells like a mushy, watered down and much weaker version of the extractive Red Temptation Vanille. They are the same price so it is not worth buying this one. Even at the sale price it is a waste of money. I do not know why it is called Patchouli? There is no patchouli here. Only an undefined vanilla sweetness. In addition, the parameters are terrible. And this is supposed to be an extract? This series is weak. This one is probably the worst. 4/10

Smells exactly (but toned down very much) like red temptation & vanilla extract that performs thousand times better. This one is so weak barely noticeable. Please consider my review if you aren’t willing to waste an extra 30€. It litterally lasts 5min.
