Majolica

Picked up the small bottle of this on a whim because I was intrigued by the claimed use of vanilla absolute. A small prayer was answered when I opened the box and gave myself a spray only to discover Majolica actually honored the ingredient with a balanced unisex composition. Majolica is presently the only vanilla-forward fragrance in my collection because I am averse to the orchid seed's abuse as a liquid confection body spray. It passed the test and will remain with me. The parfum unfolds and evolves in unexpected ways, flirting with a subtle floral here and a clean woody musk there. Versatile and suitable for all seasons, day or night, depending on wearer's preference. Nice layering potential as well. I may soon decide to snag another bottle because Zara is renown for releasing prizes like this only to never see them again.

If these would have been available in the stores in Germany, I think I would have bought the complete range. This is Zara’s own Majestic Green from 2023 perfected. Non-synthetic, clean, herbal, green vanilla. Gorgeous.

Almonds (which here smell a bit like pistachios, but in a more 'elegant' way), ginger, vanilla – all perfectly blended. This fragrance really is reminiscent of another Zara perfume – Majestic Green. Only here, instead of cardamom, we get almonds. Even though it’s from the men’s section, it’s definitely unisex. A beautiful, warm, aromatic scent! A big amount of vanilla, a tiny amount of nuttiness plus an overwhelming amount of boringness. It does not smell synthetic, the structure does not break apart as time goes by. If you like those very typical vanilla fragrances, this is a very safe choice. However, if you get a little bit bored about bakery vanilla and want to try something with slightly different personality, I would recommend you to just dump this option.

For me, this is one of the best fragrances in Zara’s “niche” line. Soft, gentle, gourmand, yet almost unsweet. There’s a hint of “Bois Farine” (most likely due to the almond), but without its characteristic dustiness or sawmill vibe. Delicate vanilla, powdery florals, and a trendy lactonic touch. In the drydown it simply fades away—no harsh chemicals, no soapy notes. Notes listed on the box: vanilla absolute, orris butter, aldron. The latter is a powerful synthetic component by Symrise that provides a warm, sensual, ambery-musky scent with animalic nuances reminiscent of civet or castoreum, but softer. It is used in trace amounts to add depth, fixation, and to enhance woody, musky, and tobacco notes, making the base of the fragrance feel alive and skin-like (AI-sourced data). Considering the price (€20 for 50 ml), this is an incredibly generous gift from the perfume industry.

majolica is more of a 'grown up' pistachio fragrance, similar to yum boujee gelato and heal the way. this starts off gourmand but transforms into a creamy-floral towards the end. i'm actually quite surprised with the quality of this collection. even the ingredients are impressive (using absolutes and accords). there is a bit of that "shine" from the oils used, so beware! do not use on clothing! and this definitely leans unisex, so don't be scared seeing this under the men's section
