Reflections Of The Sun On The Sea Saffron & Orange Flowers is the fourth piece of the Oceano collection, the N°04. I’m not sure where the Ocean of this collection is because I feel myriad shades except those typical of seawater. Aside from that, Saffron & Orange Flowers is my favourite after Zara Ocean No1 - Salty Ocean Bouquet. It fascinates me, and I immediately loved it at the first sniff on the paper strip. I find it a warm, slightly sweet scent with creamy, powdery, and somewhat vanilla undertones, while the milky notes of oriental woods dominate. It is more reminiscent of the smell of the sun warming the ocean than the smell of the sea itself. Let’s dive deep and discover more of this warm essence. First, the fragrance smells different from me than other people. The acidic citrus notes immediately emerge on my skin with shades of green and spicy foliage, and the mixture is delicately refreshing. The note of the orange fruit is perceptible, like the smell of the pulp of a freshly peeled fruit. Conversely, bergamot is subdued. It appears bittersweet, perhaps with green leaves and aromatic herbs. On the other hand, when I intercept the trail, my husband leaves when he wears it; milky, powdery, and delicately creamy notes come to mind, with an amplified amber shade, which I love but don’t feel on me. The wake is generous, especially in the first hour. It fills the room where I sprayed it, and in the open, it persists in the air after the passage. I do not smell bold saffron, with its aromatic and leathery edges, at least not in the way I am used to smelling it in other fragrances or when I smell the precious powder extracted from the pistils of the flower. However, in the initial stage, a slightly leathery edge is imprinted. The heart unfolds with fragrant orange blossom petals, whose bitterness is balanced by notes of indole jasmine and sweet ylang-ylang. The bouquet of white and yellow flowers melts voluptuously on the skin. On a late July evening, it releases a sensation of summer heat, sweet as honey but not unpleasant or annoying. Sometimes the initial and middle stages give off a slightly metallic atmosphere, but these are mainly sweet floral accords. The amber and woody aspects of the base notes give a fiery touch to the base. A soft, creamy, slightly milky accord is undeniably due to the sensual sandalwood. The powder I got from the start that I feel on other people is due to the coumarin, more on the vanilla slant than on the tonka beans. The woodiness is combined with a cleaner musk, the first exaggerated compared to the second. This blend of musks and woods highlights the sumptuousness of Saffron and Orange Blossom. Ultimately, the fragrance is powdery, floral, warm, slightly leathery, and creamy. I find it looks good during summer evenings and nights, even in the still warm days of early autumn. Excellent projection in the beginning, then it becomes moderate and approaches the skin, while the longevity is above average, especially on the clothes it lasts many hours, it is also felt the following day. What can I say? Another masterpiece of the collaboration between ZARA and the nose Jo Malone. I find this line superior to the other perfumes of ZARA. The price of about € 25 for 90ml is justified, even if sometimes there are some gems even among the medium-low range ones around € 10-15. I base the review on a 90ml bottle I have owned since July 2022.

It just got re-released at Zara, and wow, I have to say that I couldn’t be happier that I took the jump at this one. After initially being disappointed that Amalfi Sunray – also a Zara and Jo Malone collaboration – was sold out literally fifteen minutes after the sales started, I’m happy I didn’t get my hands on that one because I wouldn’t have bought this one if I had, I’m pretty sure, and I’m so happy that I did! To be honest, I never really saw myself as much of an orange flower type of person – or citrus in general. But I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that fragrances indeed are seasonal and you don’t want to be cloying anyone out in summer. This would probably be a good middle ground for me: nice and fresh with the orange flower and the green notes. But the saffron is just as equally prominent to me. In my opinion, the best combination of summery and spicy that you could have. I’ve really warmed up to the Jo Malone – Zara fragrance, but I do often go to an introduction phase where I kind of need to learn to appreciate them in their simplicity. But not this one! This is a love at first sniff.

I am a long time lurker, first time reviewer. My perfume collection spans over two decades, I have worn hundreds of scents in my life and always gravitate back to deep, moody, classic scents. This was a blind buy for me, I’ve bought many Jo Malone X Zara perfumes and have enjoyed them all. I was intrigued by the saffron/orange flower notes and couldn’t resist. First spray on my writs I was immediately taken back to my twenties, pure Jean Paul Gaultier classique. Absolute dupe and I’m totally here for it. Maybe it’s the saffron? On paper the notes of both perfumes do not correlate, but all I can smell is JPG, but nicer, not as cloying. Seductive and nurturing. I’m in love. Will buy another bottle before it’s discontinued. This is going to be my new everyday scent. Definitely leaning more feminine but could easily be worn by a male. I cannot stop sniffing my wrists!

Great daily driver and great longevity. Starts out with orange blossom, orange, green notes and musk. The ylang ylang shows up shortly after, creamy and slightly tropical without being too much. After that it becomes a gorgeous ambered orange, white floral and musky affair that you can detect for about 6-7 hours after. Reminds me of Merveilles by Hermes, though not smelling together so might not be too closely related. It’s mostly the ambered orange that reminds me of it. Perfectly unisex, though I can understand why some might say it leans feminine. That’s said, next to the current designers it’s not as feminine I don’t think. Good for year round, going to be my dumb-reach reliable daily driver for the foreseeable.

Love at first sniff : the saffron is quite prominent and very lovely, the citruses come and compliment very nice the main note , to me is going in the Coco Chanel direction . It's not a punch in the face like Coco, but comparing the dry down side by side.....like 2 sisters a loud Coco and a shy Saffron &OF. 🤭 good scent, good for lasting, anyway on my skin lasted for 5 hours, almost double than Caviar Bergamot, that one has an opening to die for but ....not long lasting for me.

I was confused by the smell. The first few minutes I didn’t smell anything actually. After that- boom! warm Saffron and orange. “Where is the orange blossom?” - boom! 30 min later and the blossoms evolved. Couple of hours later the wood really shines through. I did not expect to like this but damn I do..... ugh I kinda need this ngl hahahahah -M206

my bottle looks different.. I also bought it at the male section of Zara . Its listed as a women fragrance here but I dont get that impression . The bottle is brown with a black cap and a white logo . It smells absolutely fantastic. It resembles to me as Chanel Paris Biaritz and Byredo Saffron a mix between these two. Very sophisticated.

I love this whole line, i have the new bottles - from the mens section - they are beautiful and the magnetic caps are very fun. Personally the scent reminds me of Prada Paradoxe though i prefer this for the green notes. Reads pretty feminine to me

This is a five star hotel lobby scent. So luxe and niche. Absolutely love it, perfectly unisex as well - and I’m saying this as someone who hates masculine notes in their perfume.

I was gifted this perfume by one of my mentees (they all know how obsessed I am with perfumes) and I must say I was pleasantly surprised I like this perfume the more I wear it. I love saffron in perfumes to I thought I would definitely like it. My first impression when I opened it newly was this clean girl aesthetics which is not my vibe because the orange flowers dominated the other notes. After leaving it for a month and coming back to it now, I must say this is a well crafted perfume blend and I am not surprised that Jo Malone is involved because I can feel that minimalist touch she tends to put in her creation. I get the Christine Nagel inspiration and even though it doesn’t make me think of the ocean or beach, I definitely feel this would work great in the summer. It’s rainy season here in Nigeria (mid-May) and this perfume smells divine in the coolness of the day with the sun shining. It is still orange flowers dominated on me (maybe that’s why people are thinking of Elie Saab Le Parfum) but I like how it becomes sweeter as it develops into the heart notes and warmer in the base. It doesn’t project much off the skin after an hour, so spraying on clothes is a must if you want to extend the time of wear. I am wearing it today and enjoying it so it’s a strong like for me but I know I will get bored with it pretty quickly if I wear it everyday. If you find it, try it and see how it blends with your skin chemistry because what works for me might not work for you. I score it 7/10 and it would fit perfectly in the Hermes Jardin collection I have.

I have to say I don't feel anything ocean summery in this scent, but it smells so good. I am surprised, I imagine luxury home scent would smell exactly like that, very cosy. Day or night, works anytime. Almost in all cases I can smell perfumes on me only those who annoy me, but this one...I sprayed it in the evening, woke up in the morning and it still was there! But the thing is that this smell doesn't annoy me at all, I love it, can't stop smelling my hand. I don't understand how this one is not viral yet.

Beautiful composition. Not revolutionary or surprising, but very well blended and harmonious. Beautiful orange and saffron depth. Smells a bit like clean laundry, Zara store, orange candy and summer flowers. Very unisex indeed amd can complement with a cute edge anyone who feels flirty on a June afternoon date.

Golden Fog made more feminine and more suitable for summer. But this is just a like, Golden Fog is a love for me as a male. Or Fleur d'Oranger made more masculine - pick your statement 😅 I would not wear Fleur d'Oranger as I find it too feminine but this Saffron & Orange Flowers would do.

Perfectly unisex. Expensive orange smell. I love. Starts fresh and turns a bit spicy and pretty 🤩

Smells to me very Christmassy for some reason, maybe it's the spicyness of it. Not exacly my type of scent but it's nice to try something different once in a while.

19. July 2022 I did not immideately loved this fragrance upon the first sniff on my skin, but after a short while it changed drastically from the first sniff. At furst it is just boring dry neroli scent but when it warms up on your skin it turns into beautifully creamy juicy sweet orange smell with a hint of bergamote. I do not necessary smell saffron, at least not in a way i am used to smell it in other fragrances (e.g. Black cashmere from DK). Give it a minute snd it will reward you with a nice smell. UPDATE: after the whole day wear test i can say that at least on my skin it turned into something very nasty smelling. It warmed that much on my skin that it started to smell sickenly sweet and very artificial in a bad way. Something like fruit candies in a plastic jar left in the sun. I cannot even describe it. Smells very bad, artificial and cheap. So sad, because it started out very nice. The whole collection is actually lacking the quality, that previous releases had.

I recently saw them on the official site of Zara and I decided to blindly purchase them, all together (3 small vials). The first one, that I sampled was this one. To my surprice it was quite strong, although I was expecting the opposite.... I had great expectations about it, that it would be light and fresh because of the citruses and the green notes but unfortunately it is quite potent. The fact that it belongs to the unisex category makes the situation worst but I blame myself for that, because it is a category that I am not a fan of, I always find it too masculine for my taste. I would like to apologize but so far, I can not say that I enjoy these perfumes with the collaboration of J. Malone. I have tried other simple, perfumes of Zara and were more to my liking.

Saffron is so prominent in this scent. Saffron and orange in a natural spicy way. Unisex. I don’t think it’s for me though.. I find it hard to wear and can get annoying

I like this. It reminds me of old school skin-so-soft, but with a bit of a beachy/sandy quality to it. It's definitely unisex and it is pretty good in terms of performance. It's a unique offering and I appreciate it! I blind bought it a few weeks ago and there were no reviews at the time. I'm glad I went for it. I initially had a purse sized rollerball, but thought it was special enough to go back and get a full bottle. I enjoy this one quite a bit. Not going to be for everybody. If you like typical perfumey perfumes that smell girlie and sweet, or fruity or floral... this isn't that. It's a soft, suede-like citrus with peppery touches that make this really interesting. I like it. :)
