Shades Of Bliss

This is a surprising find at Zara. So often I find Zara fragrances screechy, sickly sweet and very similar. There is something very nostalgic about this one. It does have a slightly mature vibe to it. Soft, creamy, warm, cosy. The kumquat dissipates leaving behind a cosy but slightly dry cacao note. Like cocoa powder next to a vase of buttery creamy white flowers. Almost a hint of sunscreen in there too. Very pleasant and non offensive. Probably great to wear to the office. Not really a safe blind buy though. I have a feeling some might find this too "grandma" or "mature". I find it cosy, sophisticated, clean. In a charming way it sort of reminds you of someone's pretty mother.

White flower bomb! At first it’s citrusy and super white flower heavy. The sillage is soft and a bit soapy. Up close you get a tiny bit of patchouli. Givenchy’s Ange & Demon is one of my favorite fragrance ever so seeing it in the “reminds me of” definitely got me excited. I would say it does have some resemblance because of the white floral, but Ange & Demon also has a darkkkkk sexy side that this one is clearly lacking. It gives more innoncent for sure. It’s a good performance, specially for Zara, the sillage is good and it also last for a good while.

Oh what a cute surprise this was!! It smells like a Lush product, similar to the original Calacas/Dia de Los Muertos soap and shower gel (when it was purple), so good! It smells even more similar to that then the actual Zesty version of Calacas that Lush sells now because this one is less citrusy and limey and more candied with sweet/sour kumquat and the glittering and gummy white flowers! It opens with a fizzy, sweet and vivid kumquat note, that I belive resist even after the mid fase is passed, infact the scent is quite static. It settles in to a candied white flowers bouquet fragrance, with the kumquat as a star! I smell a blend of orange flowers, tuberose and gardenia (no narcissus) and I must say I don't pick up the cacao; the fragrance has a generic dry down of deep sweetness on which the fruit and flowers rest, with the patchouli truly coming out when the fragrance has at last faded and is in a skin scent stage. It smells vivid, joyful and so colorful! It is sweet, at tract a bit sour and citrusy, but also creamy and powdery. It smells like neon orange and neon green, with some electric purple veins in it! Like Haribo jelly bear candies, and it shares this joyful aspect with Zara's Bye Love (one of my fave from Zara, which is more deep and mature though). I may buy the little bottle for nostalgic reasons because I associate happy Autumn and happy Halloween with the scent of Lush Calacas, which Shades of Bliss reminds me a lot of. It is blissful yes, a fun fragrance for sure, and I may layer it on something like Bon Parfumeur 501, which has praline and strong patchouli, just to amp up its base. Edit: on clothes, it becomes somewhat Alienesque, I understand now why it may recall to mind Ange ou Demon, or Esoteric by Ashley.

I don't smell yellow undertones. I get the white flower. This is more on the mature side- me. But it's beautiful. The cacao is a sprinkle and patchouli is not overdone, it's more to hold it together. I have two bottles, that speaks plenty for me. It's similar to the og flower bomb vibes.

Shades of Bliss feels like a mature fragrance, suited for an older, wealthy lady. It brings to mind a wardrobe full of brocade dresses from another time — nostalgic rather than modern. There is something oily, dense, almost unctuous about it; not unpleasant, but heavy and old-fashioned. To me, it even resembles something from my childhood, which makes the nostalgic aura even stronger.
