Millesime Fougere Royale

Zilli have got some balls, I’ll give them that. As a lesser know designer and fairly new to the fragrance game, charging £300 a bottle for their prestige line of fragrances takes some guts, even beating Bvlgari’s fantastic, but overpriced Le Gemme line. So how does this fragrance stack up... Firstly, the presentation is great with a box that opens like a cupboard and solid, sculpted glass flacon with magnetic cap. It looks classy and I love the solid bottle. But what about the fragrance itself? This is a subtle fresh fragrance with a touch of earthiness. The notes are very well blended and balanced so it’s difficult to discern individual notes, rather they act as one to produce a classy, fresh, sharp and, ever so slightly, soapy and powdery aroma but that aspect is only faintly in the background. Fortunately, for me, the lavender is just as well blended as all the other notes which stops it becoming a barbershop fragrance. I’d imagine there’s a dose of ambroxan in the base as it has that slight muskiness that tingles your nose although the eucalyptus will add to that effect too. The base of patchouli, oakmoss and amber is subtle. I’d categorise this as a classy blue fragrance. It’s more Creed than Amouage, being fairly light. I notice some have said it reminds them of Aventus. Although the two don’t smell the same, I guess this is somewhat similar in genre, especially in the drydown. I would say it’s closer to Aventus Cologne if anything but they’re still not the same. It’s not loud or dense but it smells very elegant and sophisticated. Slightly old school without being dated. Better suited to warmer weather but versatile enough to wear at anytime. I’ll have to test it fully but it seems far from a projection monster which, at this price point, is perhaps a little disappointing although if it lingers in a close bubble, for long enoug then I’ll be happy as a classy fragrance shouldn’t need to shout its presence although it does need to be somewhat noticeable for the cost. So far though, not having worn it properly, it does seem very subtle - time will tell! It is high class designer, rather than niche, and you’ll have smelt similar before but it is very nicely done. Like a cologne from yesteryear without being dated. I like it very much although I’m sure most will find it far too expensive for both lack of performance and originality. Got to say though, it smells pretty damn fine to me. It’s a really beautiful fragrance. Just my style and something I’m sure I’ll wear often. It could even be signature worthy if the performance measures up. Edit: this is such a lovely, delicate fragrance. Masculine but classy. The longevity is okay but it is very subtle, which is its only downfall. It smells so good but boy, do I wish it was stronger in projection, especially for the price they are charging. I also have their Terra Santal and the performance on that one isn’t spectacular either, although it appears their cheaper range of fragrances perform better, go figure!!!!

Update: Scent 10/10 Sillage 3/10 Projection 2/10 Longevity 3/10 I was happy to find the scent ive been looking for years, but because of weakness in other aspects like sillage, ptojection and longevity, this fragrance became a big heartbreak. P.s name written on a leather patch comes off quickly too. Wish i could find something simmilar but with good longevity.

Il sent très bon pour ceux qui aiment comme moi, les Parfums Fougères un peu classique, il a une note de fond de patchouli très prononcé mais c’est vraiment très très léger à aucune tenue c’est temps rapidement et pas de siège cette marque à tout miser sur les bouteilles et le marketing. Mais ça vaut pas grand-chose il faut pas les payer plus de 50 € la bouteille il est vendu chez les discounteurs à ce prix les prix de 300 et quelques euros sont une arnaque purée dure. Ce n’est pas des jeux de haute qualité. Tous les autres parfums sont assez synthétique, c’est le seul que j’ai aimé, c’est celui-ci fougère royal mais bon , ils sont trop rapidement. Dommage parce qu’ils sent bon.
