Helios

One of my first few perfumes bought, first one was a STR8 Live True that I bought and used up years ago. Also, my first review on this website! I really loved the intensity of this EDT when I first opened the bottle and tested it out on my wrist. Picked up a 40ml bottle for about 17$ that also came with 100ml/3.2 fl. oz. of Zippo Fragrances All Over Body wash. One thing I very much liked about it is the bottle, I kept flipping the lid like you would on a normal zippo for 15 minutes straight when I first got my hands on it. It has a unique scent that I very much like, when you first spray it you get a whole lot of lavender/citrus fresh goodness, which lasts neatly with a bit of heavy spraying. When it starts to dry down more you really get to smell some of the greens of it, most noticably the moss and a bit of musk. Unfortunately, the whole scent lasted about 2-3 hours until I had to bury my nose into my wrist to smell it. Conclusion: If you like fresh scents that you can spray away with during spring/summer (or generally hot days), and not worry about it stopping you from applying a night fragrance, then this might be something for you.

It is a nice scent, Green, Fruity and Sweet. It smells so good and very pleasant with reasonable price. It opens up with like fresh citrusy, green and fruity notes in the background then dry down is musky woody. Longevity is good. The Fig Leaf note is dominant in this perfume. This is perfect for the spring and summer. I like Helios Zippo Fragrances EDT for Men. Rating : 7 / 10

Sad to see this discontinued. Very versatile and great inoffensive scent.

Got the 50ml for $19.99 as a blind-buy. It reminded me of Versace Dreamer(they both have cedar, lavender and orange so that's a possibility) and first actually, Versace Black Jeans(both have lavender, orange and cedar so that makes sense). This is soft for a Zippo cologne(though I frankly only owned the original one twice). Wouldn't buy it again. Safe office fragrance as it's soft and still not doesn't scream commonplace conformist like invictus or chanel bleu lol.

I was amazed by Original Zippo fragrance, so I got this one on a whim as a summer Zippo option. All the notes looked like it would be a banger, but damn, what a shame. As others have mentioned below, fig leaf note in this one really puts a big shade over every other note. I can't smell anything fruity in this one, just leaves and more leaves. It's too bitter and stays for a big percentage of fragrance's longevity, without anything to balance the bitterness. If at least watermelon note was turned up a notch, it would be great. But oh well, it's a cheapie. On a positive note, it can be enhanced by layering with something that's really sweet, fruity and fresh, ex. Vibrant Leather Bogoss by Zara, which gives it that much needed balance of notes and only then is wearable in my opinion. You can look at it another way around, if you have any non-winter fragrance that's has similar note profile as Helios and it's too sweet, you can balance it with bitter mess of fig leaf that Helios provides. It has the drydown going on for it, with a classic wood smell, so at least that's good. I'd give this fragrance 4/10, which would be lower if not for it's price and layering possibilities.

Picked this 75ml bottle today for $20 bucks. I won’t get into breaking this one down in too much depth but I will say that this is a miss for me. I have about 4 other Zippo colognes and this one is a dud for me. That fig leaf in this one just feels out of place. Have any of you blind bought a cologne and just knew within the first 10 minutes that it’s not for you? Well this is like that for me. The fig is so strong in the opening that it actually offends my nose. That fig leaf smell sticks with you until the bottom pyramid, but sadly it is so strong it overpowers some of the other goodness in this. When you’re finally at the bottom of the pyramid you’re left with this musky woody notes. Performance is actually quite good. I get about 5 to 6 hours with this stuff, but if you dislike the smell then what’s the point of enjoying the longevity. It’s funny, I dislike this stuff but my GF wants me to wear it more. I’ll give this a 4/10. It’s just slightly below average to me. Zippo usually makes great colognes, sadly this is a pass to me, so much so I will give this away to someone I don’t like.

Like the old joke at the start of Annie Hall, this smells terrible and doesn’t last nearly long enough. But who am I kidding? I got it for the bottle and regret nothing! And of course, if you like it, don’t take some nerd on Fragrantica too seriously. It’s not offensive, and still better than 90% of the stuff at the drug store. Smells mainly like fig newtons, sunblock and hairspray. Compared with the abstract aromachemical soup of the big designer men’s fragrances, at least it smells like *something*.

One of the best cheapies. Better than most of the Varvatos lineup IMO. One of those fragrances that is an easy reach. I love the hint of watermelon. Underrated for 20 dollars. There isn't anything sharp about this fragrance like most of the Varvatos line. This fragrance is smooth the whole way through. More of a mild to moderate projector, but musk really amplifies this fragrance up a bit, as musk usually does. More than anything, it's a pleasant wear.

Solaire of Astora's signature scent. This is a toilet fougere garnished with a breezy top note that screams "zeitgeisty freshie guy". The rest is actually tolerable and the drydown has a warm & fuzzy aura of masculinity. Heck, I'm actually keeping this in my collection for jolly co-operation time.
