Cow

Cow. Just Wow. Cow simply smells like cuddling my freshly bathed, powdered, changed, fed, bounced, and burped baby boy! It’s not a newborn baby because I can detect some faintly sour fruit vomit in the medley of breast-milk and rice cereal puke that’s still engrained in the weave of my shirt and has survived several wash cycles. The smell is so endearing, it is maternal and calm, an invisible aromatic forcefield that my infant and I have built up together over the course of seasons, a signal to the world and to myself that maternity leave will lull on into infinity in an oxytocin-induced soporific haze while event other poor sucker on Earth is slaving away, nine to five, metaphorical testicles stapled to the office keyboard. My sister and I are slowly sniffing our way through the entire set of Zoologist samples. My husband copped a whiff of Cow on me and said, “Woah, this one doesn’t smell like something crawled up its own arse and died.” Cow is the first in the range so far that has caused me to shed a tear. How can a fragrance that is so crowd-pleasing and safe be so deeply evocative, so bittersweet? Hindsight has 20-20 vision. The reality of raising babies was less than blissful; in actuality I felt sleep-deprived and smelled, well, shat on and spewed on. But now that my children are both big boys in full-time school and I am back working for the man, the lenses in my rose coloured glasses are gleaming and the smell of Cow makes me pine for those precious, perfect, but lost-forever baby days. The scent gives me the Mother Guilts. And for that reason, I will never be able to buy Cow.

I was recently gifted a full bottle of this fragrance by a loved one, in the old packaging currently still pictured here. This was not a blind gift; I'd tested it a few times last year and remember developing a fond impression. It was cute, and as such I told that person I wouldn't mind receiving it. The rest of the story tells itself. "Cute" really is the best way I can describe Cow. It is a creamy floral given a green watercolour wash by the apple, sage, and lily of the valley. It skews ever so slightly warm, which I think is what really sells the bucolic vibe -- even in the dead of winter, our most idyllic imaginings of the pastural countryside are kissed by the sun, and the promise of greener days never goes unfulfilled. Cow only projects within arm's length but has good longevity, sticking around for the better part of the day. This isn't the kind of scent I would want to scream, anyway, else it really wouldn't beat the apple shampoo allegations. One last note: the vaporizer on my bottle works wonders. It doesn't feel flimsy or weak, but it doesn't feel overly pressurized either, producing a tight and continuous mist as the pump moves down. I hope that the new packaging retains this quality, as there are other scents from Zoologist that I would like to have one day.

I was determined to love Cow. Partly because of the absurd scenario where a stranger might ask me what I’m wearing and I reply, deadpan, “COW.” And I did like Cow, quite a lot. It’s apples and cream. (I’m a little lass that loves apples and cream!). But inedible apples and cream. The apple is grass-green, waxy, beaded with dew. It’s very much a kid’s shampoo apple, sweet and tear-free. The milk is the gelid tallow of a thick conditioner or artisanal soap. Fatty, creamy, cosmetic. Not yogurty or eggnoggy. To my nose, there’s nothing sour or earthy about Cow. It’s a beautiful just-out-of-the-shower scent, office-safe and accessible, and longevity is not bad for a freshie. However, I wasn’t ready to spend over a hundred bucks just to smell freshly-shampooed. Mental Snapshot: A stock-photo perfect apple. An A is for apple apple. Then a field of dairy cows, roving across a Swiss meadow. The vivid green field crests across a spotless sky, like a 21st century Great Wave off Kanagawa. You’re in a Windows screensaver. tl;dr: Granny Smith conditioner 🐮🍏 EDIT: apparently I will spend over a hundred bucks to smell freshly-shampooed. In the words of Ms. Doja Cat: "bitch, I'm a cow." Holy cow I cannot get enough of this stuff.

Zoologist has really grown on me as a house. Initially I was intimated by their branding but after being encouraged to try them by a niche fragrance store owner (after expressing my disappointment with these newer releases), I was blown away. Zoologist fragrances are so creative and wearable despite many of the reviews, and clever albeit quirky animal names. I am also impressed with the performance and quality which is becoming harder and harder to find these days. Now onto the fragrance itself - Cow is such a clean, feel-good, green fragrance. It reminds me more of a milky generic shampoo vs. a full on lactonic fragrance. It is not a head turner, nor stop-in-your-tracks compliment getter, but it is so calming and agreeable. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it is reminiscent of a breezy meadow on a sunny day. I would rate this is an easy reach for a casual warm or spring/summer day. If you have not tried any Zoologist fragrances Cow is a good one to start with to get a better feel for how they wear, and familiarize yourself with their vanillic, balsamic, ambery base.

Cow. This perfume is very complex and I feel like there’s many angles that I could write about it from. Firstly on my skin, Apple is the most recognizable note and it lasts the longest into the dry down . It’s a bright tarte maybe even a little sour apple that reminds me a bit of shampoo, or maybe what an apple would smell like in my dreams. This note is surrounded by fresh aromatic green notes you would find in a pasture. Sage, a hint of grass, it makes for a very soothing and familiar scent tapestry that zoologist is great with. I think the combination of milk and amber in the perfume gives it a very distant creaminess that doesn’t interfere with the other notes but instead rounds the scent out, softening the edges into a very wearable spring time perfume. Over all my mind is taken to a beautiful green field and cloud filled blue sky with in an early 2000s computer wallpaper. What isn’t seen in the landscape however, is a baby calf, freshly shampooed and blow dried, it’s fur glimmering in the sun as it sleeps peacefully without worry.

I really love how this parfume smells. It’s mouth- watering juicy Green Apple at the begining with floral and aromatic notes and of course, milk. It’s like a picnic on a green field, where cows graze around you. You are sitting on the fresh, green grass, on a blanket, having your hay basket on it. In the basket, you have some Green Apples, a bottle of fresh milk and a salty pastries. As you are sitting there alone, closing your eyes and you take a deep breath. You enjoy the moment, and the time stops. You are there, withouth any worries, any problem, just living in the moment. As you breath, you start to smell the nature around you, the Apple, the milk, the green, fresh grass and the flowers around you. You can hear the cows and slightly smell them as well around you. This is what I experience while smelling this amazing parfume on me. It makes me calm and relaxed and helps me to slow down. Love it so much.

This is such a unique freshie and probably the only zoologist I'd consider buying.. a tart green apple and vegetal scent (not grass more like green vegetation) with the milk just tying it together so that it's creamy rather than sharp. For those who can't detect the milk, There's no Vanilla here so rather than what you'd normally think of lactonic it's more of a fresh unsweetened milk that gives the fragrance an overall powdery creamy quality while still being green and fruity and fresh. Smell it right after you smell a fresh herb and you'll notice the milk note. It is somehow really easy to wear and office friendly but also unique! Which isn't easy to do now with so many fragrances on the market. I don't know how anyone gets "shampoo" from this unless they're only detecting the apple note which to me is more tart and green and fresh than an apple shampoo.

sunlight staggering through leaves; napping under a tree's shade with a book covering your face; 2:20 to 2:57 in "home with you" by fka twigs. initial spray had me on the fence on whether i liked it or not, but the dry down solidified it into a love! very pleasant, a bit nostalgic -- after stuffing my nose on the sample paper for five minutes and wracking my brain on it, i've come to the conclusion that it vaguely reminds me of those scented markers in elementary school. bit of a synthetic apple, but its potential screechiness is dampened by the many florals and greenery. though, personally i can't detect any milk. but it's gentle, pretty, flowy; overall delightful! not moved enough to buy a full bottle, but i'm satisfied with finding joy in the rolling hills of my sample. quite happy that this was my first experience with zoologist!

I get no milk whatsoever from this which is perfect for me, as lactonic notes tend to go sour on my skin. Instead, I get a fresh, slightly sweet, lightly floral scent reminiscent of a green wildflower meadow dotted with apple trees under a blue sky with white puffy clouds on a breezy spring day. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the country, but this fragrance is incredibly comforting and really speaks to me. It’s airy, light, naturalistic and subtle. I can see this being an everyday scent for me in the spring—interesting enough to be unique, light enough to be eminently wearable to work, and deliciously soothing and nostalgic for me to wear around the house. If you’re looking for a powerhouse, attention-grabbing scent, or something super milky, you’ll likely be disappointed. For me personally? Perfection.

This is so unique and really enjoyable. I really do not like sweet fragrances but this one is just a tiny bit sweet, and still herbal enough that I want to wear it. It starts off very Apple-y, and a little sour, kind of like a jolly rancher but not too intense, and it quickly tones down with the milk and the herbs and becomes a much calmer, comforting fresh smell. It is so unique, but also I think there’s not really anything in it that would be controversial and weird, probably one of the more widely likable scents from zoologist. It isn’t a super strong fragrance, and I have been reapplying it a couples time a day to get that apple forward start again, but I really just find it delightful. I go the travel sized perfume so I can out it in my purse and take it with me easily to reapply.

If freedom had a scent, this would be it! I love how lovely green-ey it smells, and the milk notes are definitely present, it is a wonderful olfactory experience! It starts off a tad strong but nothing cloying, and quickly goes down to a chill grass field somehow crossed by a river of milk. I feel like this smell stays put for a while. I fail to smell most of the base notes on my skin, even after a while I feel like it still smells very green and a bit milky. My only complain about this perfume is that it isn't that potent and it feels like it doesn't project a lot, I wish people around me could smell it because it's definitely something I want to share. Overall I love it, I truly feel like a cow who has been released on an infinitely extending field full of fresh grass.

My coworker says this should've been called MooMoo Meadows, it really smells nice. It DOES have an apple-y shampoo vibe, but because I can cherry pick the notes, I can appreciate how grounding the milk note is, how the sweetness of the apple brings spring to this perfume as opposed to summer. It reminds me of the infamous Colorado wildflowers. As someone who likes green tea & fresh scents, this gives me something I cannot get elsewhere. Its fresher and waterier than Philosykos, its warmer and more almost lotion-y than The Yulong, its playful and fresh and comfortable. Smells like im laying under a big willow tree by a lake in the earlier months of summer. Simply done, but well executed

This isn’t a cow being raised for slaughter. It’s someone’s beloved pet cow who is doted on and spoiled. They treat her like a giant dog and shower her with affection, spa days, and delicious apple treats. Much like a cherished pet, Cow is adorable, happy, and sweet. Unlike some Zoologist fragrances that demand your attention, Cow is gentle. She doesn't punch you in the nose but calmly and quietly invites you closer. It's silky, smooth, and milky. I get crisp apple tartness, soft florals, and fresh green notes that remind me of fields. It's clean, happy, light, and comforting. I like the way this smells and kept sniffing myself while wearing this, it's so lovely and fun!

It’s been a long and cold winter and it’s finally the first day of spring. It’s around 60 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny outside. You open up all the windows to let the breeze in. That what this fragrance smells like to me. The first day of spring. I’m surprised no one has mentioned how similar this fragrance is to Marc Jacobs Daisy! When I first spray Cow, I get a scent that is very reminiscent of Daisy (Daisy also has a violet note). Once it settles, I start to get the apple and sage note, but I don’t really get much of a cold milk note. This fragrance is really beautiful and they really captured the environment and vibes of a Cow. Definitely full bottle worthy! 🐄💚

gosh, i love this fragrance so much. i don’t understand why i’m seeing so many people dislike it! on me, it smells like powdered apples. i wear this often, it’s a very subtle, feminine-leaning fragrance. on my skin, it even kind of reminds me of a sweeter, more innocent version of heretic's nosferatu, though i’m not sure why. pairing those two together also smells really nice on me. the apple isn't overpowering, and everything blends together well. however, i only get a slight whiff of the lactonic milk note, and after it dries, it disappears, which is a bit disappointing since you’d expect a stronger lactonic scent from a fragrance literally called "cow."

A bit more green than I expected, but I still love her! The apple isn't overpowering in the way one would think a juvenile green apple scent to be, but rather a fresh burst of a crisp bitterness cutting through the florals. A full bottle is on my wish list, but I think she'd suit spring/fall better than in the middle of summer right now. The milk note is also a little more subtle than I expected, the overall scent leaning green and a little powdery on my skin. Overall, a good floral scent with a hint of something fresh and a little bitter that'll keep you intrigued. Decent longevity, she started to wear off on hour 4, almost gone by hours 6/8 :(

The Cow is a beauty! Starts very green and floral and sweet, gives out "spring meadow after the rain" vibes. I was ready to call it ok and complain about the lack of milky notes, but then the milk appeared about 30 minutes after spraying. And wow, this is the strongest milky note I had the pleasure of experiencing so far. VERY milky, and I feel like this note intensifies as time goes, eventually becoming not milk, but butter. On me it is gorgeous. I think lactonic note often goes sour on people with warm/hot skin, but if you are cold skinned like me, it it marvelous, creamy and comforting. This is my favorite Zoologist so far.

This is possibly the most beautiful fragrance I've ever smelled. Its definitely in my top 3 fragrances. Its such a comforting and calming scent, it reminds me of a spring breeze while hiking in an open plain moutain. The mix of apple, that tiny bit of milk in the middle and that perfect touch of woodiness to it makes it perfect. That being said its not my favourite fragrance because of the longevity and sillage. I wish I could share the experience of this fragrances with others, but the projection is lackluster. I definetly recommend this fragrance, but get ready to have to spray at least 5 times each day.

This perfume is absolutely stunning. I love milk notes in my perfume and this one surprised me. A lot of perfumes that have a milk note will take it into a creamy, sweet fragrance but Cow takes it to a fresh, milky, almost cold point of view. The apple and sage are gorgeous in this. It really does feel like you are drinking a glass of cold milk in a green, floral field. Gah I am just so obsessed with this scent. To those who are saying it sits closer to the skin, I agree but that's part of why I love it. I don't like fragrances that are too loud. This fragrance is so beautiful. In my top three easily.

I got some decants to try and this was one of the scents i was more excited to try. It's amazing! With the first spray you get the apples, and then some milk, and then it dries to just milk but creamy milk powder... I have never smelled anything like this. I sprayed my neck, wrists and inner elbows, and now 7hrs later i am don't want to stop sniffing my wrists. It is summertime where i live, and despite how hot it was today, the scent wasn't "too much". I work really up close to the public and have to be careful my scents aren't too strong. This was perfect. I wish i could get the full bottle.

perfect perfume for the movement of winter into spring. the combination of the warmth from the milky, powdery base with the eruption of crisp green scents is reminiscent of the ideal apple, one that fills the senses with tartness and floral waftings, white flesh like the small white petals of clustered wildflowers. fragrance for going up into the hills, watching the swift movement of rivers and frantic creeks carving their paths through the grasses and oaks. fragrance for laying in the damp grass, staining your jacket and scarf, and naming every songbird flitting above you.

Cow is not only an absolutely gorgeous scent, but one of my favorite fragrances of all time. Unlike many of Zoologist's scents, this is delicate and very kind - a scent no one can dislike. It's the perfect mix of florals and milk, and the apple adds a gorgeous tangy note. I cannot express enough how much I love this. Like other commenters have mentioned, it is not as heavily lactonic as you may expect, but in my opinion it's the perfect amount of milk for the scent. Though it can be nicely layered with Liquides Imaginares Blanche Bête for a more lactonic version.

Such a soapy, clean and cozy scent. The first time I smelled the sample, it instantly reminded me of this Dinosaur Crazy Aaron's hand sanitizer we carried in the toy store I used to work at. The green apple is just strong enough for this scent to come across as bright and fresh, but not so strong that it's overpowering. I do wish it projected a little more, and I keep sniffing my arms just to be able to smell it. I just bought the travel size, so hopefully I won't feel as hesitant to use it as I was with the 1ml sample.

I bought the sample set from Zoologist and wasn’t really sure if I was going to like cow, especially since I have a vendetta against white florals. I sprayed it onto the card it comes with so I haven’t tested it with my skin chem yet but this pleasantly surprised me! It’s a very inoffensive fragrance and isn’t insanely overpowering- but it smells like getting out the shower and smelling fresh/floral. definitely leans into the Lily of the Valley, apple, milk, heliotrope, violet notes.

Weird that many people said they can’t get much milk. I get mostly milk. This is so realistic milk with a touch of fresh green apple. It’s not soupy at all for me. It lasted pretty good and I could smell myself especially when the wind blow. It’s pretty lovely. I think the downside is I can’t wear it during hot weather for sure since I mainly smell milk and milk in hot weather is a no. I really wanna buy it so bad but it’s so expensive omg. It’s one of the most unique out there.

This fragrance encapsulates the Milk Maid not necessarily the actual Cow. But the lovely girl who milks cows, and churns butter, and on her day off picnics in the pastures of delicate flowers, with slices of apple and a cold glass of milk. She smells of her apple shampoo and crème de Corps. She lives in a small idyllic cottage on the end of a bendy road in a small English village. This fresh and creamy with a slight tart bite of an apple. Just lovely.

love love love! this scent is somehow serene and euphoric to me. the tartness of the apple, the fresh burst of green, and the soft florals really evoke a pastoral scene. i wish i was laying in a grassy field, sun poking out between drifting clouds, resting my head on a cow munching on grass, and a breeze spreads the delicate bouquet of blooming flowers. my only heartache with this fragrance is that it really only lasts 3 hours on my skin. :'~)

I don’t know if people who made this were inspired by a particular cow, but that cow must be chill af. It smells like the word „spring”. You are on the countryside, under an apple tree, everything is blooming around you. And there is this very cute cow taking a nap beside you. Smells a bit like children’s perfume, but in a good, joyful way. It’s sour, but milk notes bring some softness. I’m sad because I only have a small sample.

I ordered the Seahorse special edition by Zoologist and got a complementary/spoiler sample of Cow. It is amazingly fresh and green, yet soft. Smells like going to a meadow with a wellpacked picknick basket in the forrest. I am lactose intolerant (and also follow a vegan diet) and this scent gives me a "milk" fix. I would love to see how it thrives in warmer weather. So far so good, about 6-8 hours of lasting depending on the day.

There aren't many floral greens that aren't meant exclusively for women. This is BY FAR the best unisex floral green Ive experienced. Its really a lactonic (which should be its own individual fragrance category but, for some reason isnt.) If you like lactonics like Lost Alice and Lac.ton.ic, you'll love this too. Can't imagine anyone not detecting the milk note. Its literally the strongest note. Going to try Rabbit next.

Fresh apple shampoo - Im not a fan of apple notes, but it is not too present here, well blended with fresh floral, sweet creamy, lactonic and powdery notes, that make everything together smell like a fresh but creamy soap or sweet scented bodylotion. Base is milky and musky with hints of vanilla. A very homey, familiar, comforting scent like hugging my toddlers when they are freshly showered and lotioned. 9/10

If you know me, you know how much I love milky/lactonic scents. I was a little saddened that the lactonic notes aren’t as present here as the apple or sage, but I still enjoyed this scent very much. It’s a scent that makes you think of rolling fields with cows grazing happily alongside one another. Unforgettable, fresh, and crisp, like a spring afternoon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Immediately reminded me of childhood memories making homemade slip and slides using tarps, baby shampoo, a hose, and a big grassy hill. Every time I smell it I can envision those memories so clearly again; being with all my cousins, hot afternoons in July, and eating grandmas homemade ice cream. Definitely the most comforting fragrance I have ever smelled.

This is my favorite scent I've tried from zoologist, it is quite simple, but enjoyable. I do not really get many of the lactone notes, I instead smell a grassy, appley, soap. Picture a bathtub in the middle of a grassland on a warm spring day. Good smell for wanting to be "clean" but unique.

I liked this a lot! The apple and the musky and jasmine really make for a sweet, sour, and fresh aroma that is adorable and explorative at the same time. Pleasently surprised that zoologist didn't go for a grass, hay, or cow pie smell here... I loved it and wouldn't mind a bottle of this.

I love Cow. It’s a fresh soapy scent with a hint of soft layer of cream base, but very thin. Like it’s holding the apple and fresh out of the shower soap scents locked. The soap doesn’t smell like a specific one, just clean lol. It’s my favorite fresh. Lasts a long time too! <3

Wow, this perfume is SO good. Bright, green apple hand soap that kind of reminds you of elementary school/ green apple shampoo in the initial spray, slowly becoming more and more creamy and vanilla overtime. Super clean, super inoffensive, the best apple scent out there!

To very simplify how the fragrance smells like. It very much smells like a fresh soursop fruit. the combo of milk and apple and a slight green note very much mimics the smell of soursop. The fragrance sits very close to the skin and is also very light for daytime use

People are finding this bathroomy because the opening notes smell exactly like blue Windex. But if you enjoy a clean, green scent, it’s worth waiting for the dry down. I can’t smell the milk note but the florals that come through are delicate and beautiful.

These are happy cows. These are not Angus cows, sitting in dirt at an abattoir. These are happy, spotted, dairy cows that still have their calves near them. Eating apples and living their best free-range lives at the base of the Swiss Alps. I like this.

Super delicious and fresh. The perfect unisex skin scent. Starts off pretty green, then goes aromatic and sits musky on the skin, almost like when you bury your face in a sunbathing cat. I’d safe it’s a safe blindbuy if you like clean musky skin scents!

This really is giving cow in the most wearable way! It’s not giving photorealistic cow, but it’s giving milky, grassy, soft, sweet, earthy. The ~vibe~ is very much cow of cows smelled as cute as they look. I think this is lovely and totally wearable!

This is such a wholesome perfume. I imagine Hello Kitty or Hinata from Naruto would probably smell like this❤️ If you’re introverted and want to smell like a comforting imaginary friend then look no further!

Stunning and misunderstood. This smells like candied violet ice cream, with a touch of grass (Vetiver) and a nice fresh crisp apple. Definitely daytime friendly, but actually best after your evening shower.

This scent brings me joy! The opening smells like apple shampoo in the best way. The sage is perfect. So pretty and feminine and green. I don’t detect the milk note at all, but I don’t mind. I love this!

I really love this, but wish is was more lactonic. I have worn it layered with Fresh Cream and that is what I think it needs. I love the bright apple, it reminds me of a 90s apple shampoo.

The best one I tried from zoologist in terms of wearablity. Very reminiscent of Ghost in the shell but more toned down on the milk note which I like and it's more fresh.

this smells exactly like the carcinogenic neon pink bubble bath that i would happily soak in at my grandma's house every weekend as a child. it's definitely Okay 👍

If I close my eyes I feel like I’m in a meadow, fresh cut alfalfa, crisp notes of the apples, what a cow would smell in pasture. It doesn’t last very long though.

I love this fragrance it’s so beautiful done . It’s just an overall beautiful fragrance it’s almost a bit nostalgic .
