Lovebird

I honestly half-expected for this one to be a gift for a bird-mom work colleague of mine but heck no, I'm holding on to it! Let me start by saying that this is a fruit bomb. If you struggle with fruit notes, this will be challenging to you. Let's get one thing out of the way, though: this is *not* Erba Pura style of fruit bomb. This is nowhere as nuclear, as sharp or as musky. There is an underlying layer of fluffy musks as typical of Zoologist birds but here the fruits are incredibly natural to my nose, subdued almost, which is a good thing. There is also a very present floral aspect, especially with Ylang giving a tropical peachy/apricot note. I don't get the heliotrope or lily of the valley, thankfully (both of which I usually struggle with). This is definitely super clean, almost giving "fabric softener" vibes but nowhere near as soapy or chemical. Some might feel it leans feminine because of fruit notes and that fabric softener cleanness but I think a guy can easily wear this. It's just a very clean, easy to wear fruit bomb. There is no weirdness here, as can be found in earlier versions of Dodo or in Bat. Texture-wise, this is very fluffy, typical of Zoologist birds and I find it also very "colorful" in its aroma, which does remind me of lovebirds and their vibrant feathers. As for the drydown, it gets a bit woody, muskier but still retains its cleanliness. It evolves slowly and never veers into something unexpected. As I said, this is more subdued to my nose (and according to those around me). It pushes initially but gets closer to your personal bubble and then after a few hours goes on skin however according to a few people that got close to me, it is still there, rather pleasant and addictive. As mentioned, this is not a synthetic nuclear bomb like Erba Pura. I know I'll be wearing it a lot this coming Spring and Summer. I'd say this is more a daytime runner, as I find there's this "good mood"/sunshine vibe to it. Bonus mention to the incredibly beautiful presentation for the deluxe edition (I got purple!), Daisy outdid herself. Very nice release! Edit: I want to add as a footnote that initially, it seemed to be fleeting on me but after testing it and getting multiple impressions from others, it's definitely still there, just subdued. It reminds me a lot of Liquides Imaginaires's Ame du Coeur in that fashion; it seems to disappear but it's definitely still there and I catch whiffs of it here and there throughout the day and others comment on it.

How can I not just gush about this!? Its absolutely the perfect fruity floral. You most definitely smell the fruity notes in the opening. A soft ripe fuzzy kiwi and passion fruit complimented by puffs of lavender and ylang ylang. It carries it's juiciness thruought the life of its longevity, melding into a lightly powdery soft ambery vanilla musk. It is a light cozy freshie, office appropriate as long as you've not oversprayed. It never gets too sweet, powdery or soapy. Its a cocooning scent that lingers long into the 12 hour mark. I wore it to work the first time and got three compliments. I bought a full bottle immediately after sampling. Works well in the cold weather. Excited to try it in the upcoming warmer months. PS This almost has a make-up facial powder vibe which I absolutely love! I once had a peach faced lovebird named Mango.This scent smells to my nose like soft fuzzy peach skin.

The opening is the most juicy, tangy passionfruit and blackcurrant mix, followed by a delicious ambery dry-down that smells so cozy and warm. Reminds me a lot of Dove's pomegranate soap! Love this. Edit: Just wow, Lovebird keeps getting better and better, this is an exceptional fragrance. I expected the scent to mainly capture lovebirds' vibrant colors through juicy fruitiness, but it also captures lovebirds' cuddly behaviour: this scent is kind of cozy and makes you want to snuggle up. This is actually the perfect spring perfume, with a fruity top and complex ambery base. It has joined Penguin and Camel in my top 3 favorite Zoologists, and has just edged out Rabbit.

the opening smells like tropical skittles and a an ice cold sprite. after that the smell calms into soft florals before settling into an ambery vanilla glow. very beautiful scent journey with this one. starts traditionally feminine but ends sort of like a dried down SWY flanker, in a good way. very nice addition from zoologist! perhaps called lovebird because it blends traditonally gendered notes into a single fragrance.

Obsessed with this one! It’s uniquely fruity-doesn’t give body spray or kids fragrances in any way, but still juicy and vibrant. I wish it lasted longer on my skin, but sadly it doesn’t last very long. Other than that, the kiwi/black currant on the opening are addictive, and it dries down to a lovely warm sweet orange and amber smell on me. Will buy a full size bottle some day!

Opens as a subtly sweet, fruity, floral, refreshing scent. Leads into a tropical and juicy passionfruit that stands out on my skin. I love it. Super easy wear for Zoologist. I get none of the animalics that they are known for. Would be a great entry point into the brand. Perfect for Summer days spent outside.

Bright, fresh, and juicy. I wore this on Valentine’s Day so it was quite fitting. It’s a cute, tropical scent which I tend to lean more towards personally. The kiwi note lasts a while which I absolutely love. I didn’t know what I was expecting, but was surprised and captivated by this scent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

What a stunner. It’s floral, it’s fruity. More blackcurrant than I was expecting on skin (I love) on paper it’s all kiwi and lily of the valley. I cannot wait to see how everyone else reacts to this fragrance. 💚 It was so worth blind buying a full size bottle. I got the special edition Blue Lovebird 🥹

Primarily fruit-forward, suuuuuuuuper super juicy passionfruit. Leans slightly younger and more feminine. Not nearly as daring as most other Zoologist offerings, but I still love it. Also very strong; easily lasts all day on me.

Happy birds. Latest zoologist is a spring summer easy grab scent. Opens very bright, kiwi accord (which I don't even have an idea how is made, can't pinpoint the materials) plus citrus and fresh peppermint, very well done, smells natural in the best way possible, happy summer feeling in a tropical enviroment kind of mood. Then we have the transition to flowers (tropical yellow ylang ylang on front and fresh heliotrope kind of greenish) mixed with tropical fruit. Drydown is cozy musk that has a "plumy" vibe (that sort of vibe that I found in Snowy Owl too, but less wierd here, more floral and classical due to the ambrette seeds floral facets, like plumes with some tiny flowers on them, maybe I fall into the narration, but I can smell plumes, not the long feathers, the soft plumes of birds' chest). The two interesting things are: the kiwi accord, very well made, not too sweet, green and little acidic instead, with that "woody" facet that you have when you cut kiwi's peel. Incredible work really. Second thing is the "plumy" musk. In the notes there are vanilla, and tonka (materials well known for the sweetness of the vanillin) but none of them is clearly on front, I can imagine that those are used to smooth the transition from the brillant almost zesty opening to the musk but I don't have any idea how they dosed them to have this effect. From a perfumery point of view it is a interesting fragrance, and fits the story of these two birds loving each other and having the best time of their life in the tropics to then relax during sunset one near the other, soft and plumy. But, yes, there is a but... from a pure scent point of view this is not interesting enough to go full bottle. It is a nice tropical easy going profile, when you smell the opening probably you would like to go 30 sprays everyday for the whole summer but after all it is another take on tropical fruits plus floral, not the most exciting thing ever I must admit and the zoologist price (at least for me) requires something "special" to justify a full bottle buy. Longevity is very good if you include the skin scent drydown, but the fun part lasts max four hours on my skin. Projection is ok (remember, no one will dislike this, it is sooooo easy to wear). About the practicalities, this is a totally safe fragrance, unisex, playful, easy going, pleasing. You can use whenever and wherever you please with no fear, so if you are into this profile, go for it, it will be an overspray party!

This one reminds me so much of my grandparents' home in Stockholm. In my mind, they are the lovebirds from the portrait—they were artists with a love of quality fragrance, so it's meant as high praise. The home was sold a while ago, and my grandfather is no longer with us, so Lovebirds gave me back a feeling I thought I had lost forever. A beautiful fruity fougere, slightly masculine-leaning, and a lovely addition to Zoologist's aviary.

Wow. I don't see the hate. It isn't as daring or challenging as others from Zoologist. I think it fits Spring very well. Fruity, but not too sweet. Really wearable. I don't get floor cleaner. I do see some getting a type of fruity gum. Totally Spring. Not my favorite from the house. Probably wouldn't buy a full bottle. I think it is wearable and would certainly work for others.

On the fence.... with the fruit and the mint..... it smells like trident gum....... and as it drys down its a bit more aromatic but for me its a juicy kiwi and slight mint and a lovely bergamot and passionfruit when first sprayed. i think i will need to get used to something so fruity!

This smells so good. It is soft, fruity, airy, meditative. Overall it is shockingly wearable and modest! To me it smells like a fresh candy fruit without being sexy or cloying. In the same rank as the new sanctuary elephant version they released. A solid fragrance!

I really like the scent profile, only thing keeping me from loving it is there is some note or combo of notes that just smell like old lady to me

Blackcurrant, mint, passionfruit, something kind of bitter and green... very cute. Let's see how this one develops.

It reminds me of So... Body mists or cheap conditioner? Except obviously you can tell the ingredients are much higher quality and there's more depth to the fragrance than cheap body mist. However. That doesn't matter. Nobody who smells this on me would think "wow it has so much depth", they'll probably ask me which Charlie spray I'm wearing. I personally wouldn't pay 200 pounds for this, the fact is, it is boring, nothing new, nothing exciting and not what I would expect from the brand at all. Happy for anyone that enjoys this though, it has it's own appeal, and I'm glad to have experienced it.

On my skin, Lovebird is a fruity, powdery and musky fragrance. I get notes of passionfruit at the top, heliotrope at the heart, musk and fur at the base. To me, Lovebird is a pretty uninspiring fragrance, it’s unique in the sense where not many fragrances go for this profile but its not boundary pushing or spectacular like I’ve come to expect from this house. Lovebird for me had a very nostalgic scent - reminiscent of Fructis shampoo from the early 2000s. It opens with Kiwi High-Chew and very quickly settles to a rather linear tropical musky fragrance. I wished this offered something paradisiacal but instead it is the olfactory equivalent of angsty teen MSN status updates and dial up internet.

I was so excited to try this that I think I set the expectations too high :( it really disappointed me because it smells very very similar to Cosmic, which isnt very promising. I think Chameleon does a better job at being this fruity-tropical paradise than Lovebird does. Oof

i was super curious about this fragrance house for a long time, so i decided to get a decant of this. i was pretty disappointed. to me, it smells like a pet store. you know? that weird aroma pet stores have. perhaps i am not cool or hip enough to appreciate these super niche fragrances. it's not my cup of tea

I was really trying hard not to kill anyone’s vibe and not being negative especially because were talking here about Zoologist, a very controversial brand that pops out unexpected releases and so to say very unconventional ones. So even if I wasn’t keen on all of their fragrances, I appreciated the art behind them but this one really infuriated me. Probably the word to best describe it as is “catastrophe”! I’ve been wearing this for a while now, a few good hours ( to the point I wanna puke) and the only reason I’m not scrubbing it off it’s because I wanna see the extent of it but honestly I might’ve reached the limit. First of all 85-90 % of the notes aren’t even detectable, all I can smell from the opening to dry down is mint and wormwood. There’s no citrus, no lavender, no heliotrope, no kiwi, no passion fruit, no cloves, no vanilla, not even amber! No sweetness, no spiciness no powderness, no tropical. NOTHING!!! The whole scent is borderline barbershop meets Harry Potter spell concoction. At this point I even miss the skanky T-Rex (my apologies for those who enjoy this scent, it’s just there’s no chemistry on my side) I couldn’t deal with but thinking back I believe I’d be more comfortable wearing that and pull it off as a scent of the day. I’m not sure if it’s just me but I feel the brand just lost their uniqueness since they changed the bottles and the latest scents are very crowd pleaser, commercial and nothing else. So do yourself a favour and don’t blind buy this like I did, try it first. I’ve to sell it now because I can’t even look at it, even if that box it’s very pretty 😢

I might have found my signature scent, if it lasted. It opens fruity- jammy, moist fresh fruits (everything Erba Pura is not..). Imagine walking through Pandora on a bright sunny day, which magical plants and the most exotic creatures. That’s the opening. It settles down as a warm cozy vanilla- without gowing gourmand. The vanilla is supported by musk and woods while the tropical fruits still whispers in the background. Its 100% original, totally unisex and have to say one of the best dry downs I’ve smelled. Now, if that dry down actually stayed and projected I’d say i have found my signature scent. But it doesn’t. After 1 hour I have to press my nose against my hand to actually smell something. I thought: maybe it’s one of those noseblind scents... so I asked multiple people on different days and none of them smelled me. After three hours the scent is as good as gone. Waste of potential Edit 28/2 : I’m reading the other reviews, one saying it lasts all day/ past the 12 hour mark. HOW???? I literally sprayed like 10 times on my arm , making sure it didn’t get rubbed on my clothing and it was gone after 3 hours. Not just “skin scent” but I mean GONE. Think I’ll try it in store soon... hope I just had a bad decant. Because if it truly does last all day I’ll buy it right away

Lovebird is a kiwi that doesn’t try to be an exotic parrot - it behaves more like a well-mannered cosmetic fluid. Kiwi with blackcurrant leaf is actually a lovely pairing: green, juicy, uplifting. And thankfully, the blackcurrant never slips into that infamous “cat pee” territory it sometimes falls into. There’s almost no sweetness, and thank God for that. Instead, you get musks and a soft veil of powder. Overall it wears close to the skin and feels more cosmetic than natural: not a savannah, but good skincare. Performance-wise, though, it’s underwhelming. I expected more longevity and projection. I can already hear the chorus complaining that Zoologist has become tamer, softer, pressured by marketing and profit. I’m still observing, but I can’t help feeling a hint of the same suspicion: Lovebird sings beautifully, it just seems that in the golden cage.

Minty! I get mostly mint mixed with lavender and fruity notes...very unique and interesting. Not gonna lie I didn't like the opening...it gave me a floor cleaner scent. But, minutes later the scent starts developing in the right direction and you get a fun minty fruity lavender... Kaleidoscopic. Sample it first. I will finish my sample but don't see myself buying a full bottle. Edit: After a while, the very late drydown starts reminding me of Buongiorno!

Spilt bottle of musk therapy in my grandma’s chest of drawers with one of those old school scented drawer liners in. Quite soapy Not unpleasant but not particularly niche either. opposite end of the spectrum to T-rex and Olm. The kiwi is bang on though.

I was really reminded of a fragrance I'd sampled before, and pondered on it for a while, until I remembered. It is very reminisent of Kayali Sparkling Lychee!

I really really wanted to like this but it smells a tad like cleaner and not like the minty fruit smoothie everyone on here was describing.
