Buongiorno Amore Mio

Amore Mio is my favourite from Acqua di Parma’s new Buongiorno line which launched 3 weeks ago. I absolutely adored it at first and thought I’d found my signature. It starts as a soapy-clean, powdery-soft gentle but fresh scent. During its first 30 minutes it bursts with soapy floral sunshine, like laundry left out on a perfect summer day. At this stage it reminded me of Néroli Plein Sud (as it shares a similar soft, luxury soap, oriental floral feel) but mixed with Blanche Absolu as is has the same musk, aldehydes and ambroxan combo. After 30 minutes, it evolves into its Orphéon/Blanche phase and the ambroxan becomes more apparent, so I started to not love it as much. I hate ambroxan, but luckily in Amore Mio it’s muted and not as extreme as in Valaya (which is the exaggerated more muskier but screechier version of this predominantly white but sunny fragrance). By the 3rd hour I noted that it totally pulls back and is almost gone. So shame about the very poor longevity as I loved the opening. The dry-down becomes more like Opera by Loewe as it develops a muted powdery-aldehyde-floral skin scent. It’s worth noting that it’s the only fragrance in this line that’s not officially unisex, it’s listed as being “female” but I wore this along with my boyfriend and we both loved it to start with - the poor longevity was our dealbreaker. Overall, Amore Mio is a clean, minimalist powdery, soapy but sunny scent that’s easily unisex but with a disappointingly short 3 hour performance.

A great skin scent. Very clean and bring smelling but sort of reminiscent of hand sanitizer or soap

I can mostly feel the cotton / orris notes. Not much of anything else. But these notes are well made and soft. Something I'd wear to the bedtime or in the winter to cozy up.

The dry down is SO similar to Blanche by Byredo. I had hoped for something more unique - it is lovely but hardly creative. Longevity is great though

Amore Mio is... alright. Pleasant. Pretty. Pretty forgettable. The scent starts off with a soft clean and clean, linen-esque texture. It's aldehydic, but in the airy freshly-washed sense rather than sharp or soapy or old. Very gentle and intimate, both in energy and projection. Soon it thins out into a more transparent, unmistakable ambrette musk, with its rounded, faintly petal-like skin sheen. The musk stays smooth and inoffensive. That's all? Yep, that's all. It reminds me a bit of Fjallsjo by Bjork & Berries, but less aquatic and also less interesting. Fjallsjo has more of a real, scenic atmosphere. In contrast, this as softer and blurrier edges, making it possibly more easy to get along with... and more generic. It's just not something I’d particularly notice if I passed a wearer by, owing partly too, to the meek sillage.
