Although I do not own the OG, this is a lovely fragrance. I am looking forward looking forward to smelling it after it sits in the cool dark for a few months. I’m hoping it will smooth the sharpness of the musk and ambroxan. This plays out beautifully in layers of citrus, spice, wood, and cinnamon. The dry-down is a warm vanilla, but I do not find it nauseating or overpowering. I wore today outside and could catch whiffs of it as the wind passes me. I am extremely pleased with the longevity and projection, even after 8 hrs.

At first sniff I was not sure... The citrus with the warm sweet notes did not sit right with me but then my husband put it on and the dry down was amazing! My new favorite on him.

This is a very sweet fragrance that can be easily overpowering without care in application. Users need to understand it is a perfume extrait, not an EDP. This means slower evaporation and less sillage (projection) but generally longer duration. Be cautious of places where it gets warm and ventilation is less. Although I find the fragrance pleasant, I can see where someone might become nauseated in close quarters if too much is applied. Although not listed in the notes profile, I pick up notes of sweet tobacco, leather, and incense as well what they list. Definitely a cooler weather fragrance that can be unisex for those who enjoy sweet Oriental vanillas. Leans slightly more male. Would also work for layering scents that you want to add sweetness. Altair has both tonka and almond, which this does not. This also contains myrrh, giving it a sweeter, incense smell as opposed to elemi resin used in Altair, which is less sweet. The guaiac wood in Altair can be sweet depending on variety used or can be more spicy. Although a pleasant fragrance if not overdone, I find Altair is less sweet. Both fragrances deserve caution in the over application category unless your goal it to cause nausea to people who are triggered by sweet smells.
