L'eau Blu

Although kind of basic and somewhat generic Ajmal L'eau Blu is a great dumb reach gym bag leave in the car as back up type of fragrance. Out of all the affordable fresh scents, it's pretty good quality, and doesn't have the nauseating element that most of its kind tend to have. It also reminds me somewhat of Afnan 9am Dive, but lighter and less sharp.

I also got the free sample, and think it's not a bad little frag. Pretty bright and sweet on the opening but doesn't last too long. I may buy a bottle with a coupon for a quick freshie.

The very extreme reactions on either side of the spectrum are strange. I got this as a free sample, so with zero expectations. It's very synthetic and blue, completely not worth buying but also not anything that would be offensive to anyone. The loves and hates in the ratings are probably more to do with people's opinions of Ajmal as a brand, but that cluster of neutral ratings in the middle is the accurate representation of what this smells like.

A sweetness settles over everything, wrapped in a single polished theme. The structure recalls the modern cleanliness of Prada L’Homme and the sweet-spiced sheen of Amouage Reflection Man. The effect likely comes from ambroxan + synthetic musks + sweet aromatic woods, a combination that smooths out complexity and places it firmly in the modern woody–amber world.

Not bad, but not great either. I bought a full bottle after trying the free sample. It's basically light herbal and boring, unidentifiable wood notes on top of sweet white musk, with a synthetic watery note to make it smell "blue". It smells like a high end air freshener. It's okay, and nothing unique at all.

This fragrance reminds me of John Varvatos XX Artisan Teal. Side by side, it's very difficult to tell them apart! It's very well done.
