I agree with both sides. 2/10 for creativity because it does smell like Ombré Nomad from LV and there is no denying that. I also think that they took the same idea and improved it slightly or twisted it and made it more wearable, and affordable. I would add a slight rose and a chocolate feel to the note breakdown. The oud is done perfectly as well as the ambroxian. Not too much but just enough to hold up the composition and give it a backbone. No skank or egg smell. I wouldn’t call this a leather-forward scent which is a win to me. Performance is on par with OM. Not a projection beast but it's respectable and the sillage/trail is outstanding. I have a 10ml decent amount to burn but off the bat, I love this one. If it hits discounters this it's a no-brainer as a niche alternative to OM. If you’re looking for an updated twist on this DNA 🧬 it's great stuff and sample-worthy. The only time I’d hesitate to wear is a hot summer day. On a breezy summer night, going to a nice dinner would be fair game. Edit: Going to change from a love to a like. After several wears the raspberry took a back seat to what seemed to be a rose note. I'm currently not a rose fan and was specifically looking for a darker fruity oud as opposed to a rose oud. On the other hand, I love the noticeable chocolate nuance in the dry down. I will say the performance is great. The ambroxian may make you go nose blind while projecting to others around you. I still believe this is very well-done, high-quality, and worth the money. Just be aware you may share my experience with the note pyramid.

First proper sampling of East, the second most recent release from Akro, in 2023, a bit of a big swing toward an oud-rich mix, quite different from most of the house’s catalogue to date. The principal notes are oud assafi, raspberry, leather, and ambrox, and while rose is not listed formally, there is a bit of a rose/oud vibe via the raspberry/oud mix, I dare say. The mix of sweetness tempers the oud but itself is not overwhelming. The blend seems balanced, smooth, elegant, while also being rich and high-performing. I do not detect too much leather (or spice, generally), which makes it seem a bit more of a straightforward oud/raspberry blend, albeit with the suggestion of rose. It’s very easy to love for someone familiar oud but generally not prefer the more intense, animalic, or medicinal versions of it. As with the house’s most recent release, Glow, East is in extrait concentration and priced at $250/100 for 100/30ml to the usual $180 for 100ml in EDP. As with the rest of the line, it is sold via the US house website and great boutiques like Perfumology, which just celebrated its launch of the house at its shop. Overall, I’m really pleased with this release and consider it among the house’s best few. 8 out of 10

This is a new discovery of mine and I am absolutely in love with the composition. The raspberry remains present throughout the longevity of the fragrance. In the opening it is fruity raspberry on oud, quite prominent oud. After the second hour the oud remains as a backbone and the leather goes forward. In the next 12 hours you have the sexiest masculine combination of raspberry and leather. The only negative thing - it is linear, doesn’t change drastically and the DNA may feel familiar. The positives - it is unique as quality of the blend, I promise you have not smelled something so well and sexy blended. It is sex in a bottle if you imagine a very tall, dark-haired guy who is going to smack you on the bed. Just an amazing fragrance, worth every penny!

One of my all time favorite cool weather fragrances. Strong projection without being suffocating and projects all day. As a lover of Ombre Nomade, this is not a dupe and likely not even inspired by. If anything, it’s more like Nouveau Monde with the smooth suede/cacao vibes but nowhere near as animalic or complex. I’ve never tried Oud Bouquet but I have Shaghaf Oud and East pretty similar to that but with no rose and much better quality. Also some G&B Purple Suede vibes without the lavender.

I was eating something the other day while wearing this perfume. It wafted into my nose and meshed with the food to create the best thing I've ever tasted, but I fear I'll never experience it again because I forgot what I was eating. This perfume just makes me happy. It's very sweet and makes me wish that wood were more palatable.

Akro East is so good, it’s crazy. Dark, sweet, oudy, i love it. I think this might be my favorite from Akro. I don’t get leather, just oud and raspberry, and this is a great mix. I need to find a way to buy this because it is not available in my stupid country

Beautiful oud, it lingers in every room you leave. Very soft, sweet, nostalgic, not suffocating at all. East reminds me of being in a church in the middle of summer in the early morning right before the day gets really hot.

A great fruity take on oud and leather. It's a similar style to Ombre Nomade and Tuscan leather, definitely not unique but it does have something different enough to own it. I love it.

Idk wth these snobs in the description are smoking but this us an amazing raspberry leather combo. Yes, nothing new but a great blend.

95% Lancôme oud bouquet but less caramely and powdery, more fruity, quite sweeter, and a bit more refined. Based on reviews and my experience with a small sample, it appears to last longer, but the projection on me is not great. The fruit also reminds me of the fruit in two other scents released before this scent or around the same time; oud maracua and oud symphony. I am shocked that it’s as unoriginal as it is. I really like everything I’ve smelled from Akro and this is no exception. They are all simple but smart and highly wearable, so I’m not expecting anything super unique or creative. But how can one justify buying this when it smells nearly exactly the same as something else that has been out for years, not to mention multiple other scents released around the same time? I haven’t smelled the Louis Vitton which is on the other end of the price spectrum, so this seems a possible better deal for fans of ombré nomad. Very nice but overall disappointing. The only thing I can think of for the redundancy is that maybe it was formulated a long time ago, and sat on the shelf before release. Otherwise it just seems like a copycat fragrance.

It is nothing special creatively, however, this perfume does stand out by the fact that it has the most insane projection & longetivity I have seen on any perfume. I received it as a sample when I bought another perfume for my brother & I barely sprayed it onto a bookmark to take a smell test. From the little perfume that fell on my finger tips I developed a strong projection of its signature oud scent. Moreover, I placed the book & the bookmark into my backpack for about 2 hours before taking it out & for the entire week, whenever I opened my backpack, I would get hit with the strong remaining smell of the perfume. I received weird compliments such as 'why does your backpack smell like that? not in a bad sense, it smells really good, but why?' for that week. It is basic but I am thinking of buying the whole bottle as a gift to my brother for when he has outdoor activities since it holds so strongly against the test of time.

A more than familiar theme interpreted in an elegant French manner. While being a fairly linear scent, East by Akro convinces with balance and class. The overall impression I am getting is an ambered raspberry, with smoky-leathery nuances and a touch of rose. A heavy dose of ambroxan gives the fragrance a certain sparkle and staying power, while never being overwhelming. Interestingly, once East dries down, it almost feels like an airy Ombre Nomade, but maybe that‘s just me. In any case, solid release by Akro, give it a try. :)

Despite its opening, a great find! It started with one of my most hated scent combintions: fruits meeting heavy amber. Let me tell you, it was SWEET to the point I could even taste it. And my skin has a tendency to highlight ambery notes, so, a nightmare. But good thing I didn't scrub it off because in a few minutes, it shed that sweetness until only a cold woody-resinous impression remained (perhaps oud?). It went from "God, why?" to "Yeah, I can probably sleep with this on".

This is oud and leather all the way.The raspberry tries to say hello the first minute ,but is suffocated by the oud and leather that says goodbye very fast.Little sweetness i sense which balances out the harshness of the oud and leather notes

does not last long projection wise. I sprayed it three days straight and would swap out with my other stuff and compared to most scents I have it doesn't last which sucks because I love the scent profile

East akro will give you the Tuscan Leather TF vibe with middle east kind of oud then turns up to Flora oud 7.7/10

Generic, fruity leather. Not harsh, well blendid but i could find the same scent at multiple brands which give me the same vibe. The best part about it that it's not too fruity. Glad there is no plum in sight. It's not overpowering which usually the thing with these scent profiles. Scent: 3 Creativity: 1,5 I like it but not bottle worthy.

I just got this to test. It is nice but not fb worthy as I get hints of a few penhaligons Fragrances which I have so no point having another one that smells the same

I got a 2 ml sample for testing, but it smells rubbery. Nothing special for that cost.

Oud and raspberry. And you know enough. We have smelled this before and for less. Two sprays on a blotter fill out a room. Hours later the smell is still present not just in the room on the first floor but also downstairs.

The only thing I liked about this scent is the prominent and fresh raspberry note. The oud plays the main role in the composition. I'm not a big fan of strong and bitter scents like this one.

Tuscan Leather mixed with some Cuoium. Not original at all. They wrote: "In tribute to the UAE, and his own addiction to travel, Olivier has come up with a new fragrance: EAST, a perfume inspired by the street markets of Dubai and the welcoming homes all over the Emirates." And I'm like, reaaally?! 😆 Do ppl believe this bs? I'm sure Harrods was like: uh, can you please make something for our many, many Middle Eastern customers, who spend sh*t lots of money on perfumes? And Mr. Cresp was like: gotcha 🤙

East by Akro is a roughly-hewn take on the popular raspberry (and/or rose) oud theme. The problem is that Akro's base is not purely oud, but rather oud mixed with an offgassing leather accord which is brutally and fully detectable even at the opening, especially at the opening. Frankly, considering that East supposedly uses natural (and expensive) oud assafi oil from Bangladesh I'm surprised they would adulterate it with such a vulgar leatherette. Yes, the drydown is somewhat similar to both Swiss Arabian's Shaghaf Oud and the various Oud Bouquet iterations put out by Lancome. Yet I easily prefer either of those far more than East. Again, this is because the leather is unpleasantly harsh and that roughness leaves a taint throughout the fragrance . Also East's pungently volatile top notes, presumably the leather mixed with a raspberry accord, reminded me of the similarly pungently spicy rose notes found in Lattafa's Opulent Oud. However, when comparing them directly, I realized I was not being fair. Opulent Oud's opening plays like sweet rose syrup compared to the bitter fumes that start off East. However, later in the drydown, they do become more similar to each other. If one is curious to explore a variety of rose oud perfumes (with or without raspberry), he should try this one too, but he'll likely soon realize that there are many, more enjoyable options out there, ...and the same should also hold true if leather scents are the locus of interest.

Most scents have been done before and this is no exception but some scents are crafted very well and this is one that is better than most within its category. It's very smooth and well blended - got to leave your nose in for 10 seconds or more to get wafts that eventually separate into leather, oud and raspberry. Surprised at the overall score this has been given on here but it's one of the most addictive scents I've smelt for a long time and so got a 10ml bottle - glad they do a small size. You can wear this all year round in the UK as it's not overpowering - it's present but not over the top dense and thick. I sampled it on my arm when we had the 30C heat wave last month and it wasn't overbearing.

This smells like a more effervescent version of something my mom had in the 80s, and even conjures a very specific moment in time: It's grey and rainy, we've picked up the pies from my school fundraiser and we're taking them to people's houses to deliver. My mom is impatient, she's dressed up in her leather boots and duster, perfume on, and ready to do whatever she's got planned for the evening, right after we drop off the neverending carloads of stuff we picked up from the grade school earlier that afternoon. There's the smoke from her chainsmoking, the leather from her jacket and the fruitiness of several hundred frozen parbaked thanksgiving pies.

Starts out LV Ombre Nomade + leather. Wears like Lancôme Oud Bouquet. Initial spray: subtle tart raspberry with oud and leather. The scent bubble is where it becomes Oud Bouquet. It’s very sweet. I would’ve guessed praline or vanilla as a base note. Heavy sweet oud. Van Cleef & Arpels Oud Blanc is another similar fragrance. Only smelling my wrist up close can I still pick up the leather. Not a dupe for LV Ombre Nomade for those who are looking. Nothing like it beyond the initial spray. I really enjoy it. Great performance. ❤️

Yea, its raspberry forward. The leather softens the sting og the rapsberry....but its double oud in terms of oud and raspberry. Raspberry gives it a fruity pop pf oud.....no animalic notes pers se.....but it is something lingering in the background that Dirty and fun..... I approve. Im reminded of Franck Oliviers oud vanille. It smells almost identical minus the vanilla dry down....

Indeed not very original. I agree I’ve smelled this 100 times over already. Reminds me of a leathery oud bouquet and I just don’t like that scent profile (maybe I shouldn’t have bought a sample then of a perfume called east 😂) i do like these types of scents when I smell them in the air or on others though 😊 I also find this is really a winter scent.

It reminds me A LOT of a higher quality version of the old discontinued gem "24 Gold" from Scent Story... The Raspberry amber with hints of leather is really lovely... If you had a bottle of "24 Gold" and always wondered what a niche version would smell like created with top notch ingredients then give this a sniff... It really is wonderful stuff...

Definitely get the Ombré Nomade vibes, very close. What seals the deal for me is the projection and longevity. The longevity is absolutely insane on this stuff. I get 18 hours+ and it’s far from a skin scent at that point. In the race of scents that smell similar to each other, the one that lasts the longest takes the cake.

Absolutely love this scent, it’s amazing, phenomenal, and truly excellent! The only thing keeping it from being a perfect 110/100 for me is the slight bitterness, which can be a bit off-putting. Other than that, it’s an outstanding fragrance!

Dont understand the terrible ratings. It’s not rank or anything. When you first put it on it’s one of those perfumey perfumes. Otherwise it’s nothing to write home about. I dont get leather as much as much as fake oud. Moderate projection.

Reminds me of Night by the same brand. I also smell musk, like in laundry detergent. Only this one is softer. Then, after a few hours, it smells like any Arabian perfume with an oud note. I didn't like it.

Middle Eastern oud. Some kind of berry—or whatever—but in such a rich, heavy Middle Eastern oud context, any fruit just turns into a chemical-style amplifier, loud, saturated, hot, and flamboyant.

It’s rose oud but done in a way that makes it less fresh and kind if on the bad side of heavy. You feel some of the supporting notes do not mix... good for $50
