Rise

Rise is a delectable summertime fragrance. Launched in the beginning of September! Go figure.. What brings new to the market in my opinion is that is a tropical floral with strong gourmand facets. It combines the frangipani and tiare flower with pineapple juice, coconut water, pina colada and toffee. A scrumptious cocktail of flavours and tastes. Smooth, creamy and sugary sweet! What I don’t really like about Rise is that it’s more of a soft, close to being a skin scent. Doesn’t project much. Basically a scent with moderate performance sold for a high price point. Dark was a strong performer, Bake is somewhat in the middle but Rise is really lacking in the performance! And from all three of them, Rise is my favourite! Also, I wish they would change the packaging for the future releases, I want something more interesting and colourful. And a bottle with an atomiser that doesn’t leak all over the bottle and inside the tin packaging! Cause this is how my Rise got to me, leaking... And it was perfectly packaged otherwise, so it’s not a shipping issue that caused the leaking. Maybe just switch the cap to something looking more interesting and luxurious. And better quality... Or use some colours for the writing on the bottle... Rise is a summertime tropical scent and just by looking at the bottle nobody would guess that! I can understand that this minimalistic, industrial vibe, dark and gloomy aesthetic might be trending or something, but it doesn’t suit this scent for sure.. Maybe I would love to see from Olivier Cresp more involvement into designing the packaging, going of his French roots more, than the input from his London based daughter and her husband. It’s his own brand and he can to make changes easily if he wants. I would like to see something more exciting and youthful in the packaging because I am starting to lose interest in his brand!

‘Rise’ is sweet, fresh, and the perfect blend of authentic coconut water and a milky piña colada. It is a beachy vibe in the best of ways! I miss some of the pineapple in the top, and it is mostly coconutty, almost lactonic, with a heavy influence of tiare in the opening. At least on my skin, it does not smell lactonic at all on the paper strip, but you still recognise the milky coconut. It feels slightly linear, but the tiare and tropical frangipani plays a larger role when it settles properly down on the skin. Though, I never get much from the toffee nor sandalwood other than an enhancer of the silky-smooth feel of the composition. As for the longevity I will applaud ‘Rise’. A tropical beach scent typically doesn’t last very long on my skin, but this one has some staying power. It is mostly the coconut in company with the tiare, but that really feels like the heart of this scent anyways! As I said, this is giving a beach vibe in the best of ways, a sunbed with an ocean view, saltwater in your hair, fresh fruits and the best piña colada you have ever tasted. I wish I could stay in this scent bubble forever.

The opening of this is SO good. It’s very beachy and tropical, heavy on the coconut and pineapple. However, while so many scents with this profile smell like cheap body spray, this somehow manages to still smell niche quality. As it opens up an intoxicating toffee/ambroxan sweetness comes through. It’s feminine for sure, and quite sexy. I’m not usually a fan of sweet or fruity perfumes but I really like this. Would be great for a holiday.

Tried this on skin today. I got this because I really love a pineaple coconut scent for summer. This is more sun tan sunscreeny on my skin. The first 30 min smelled kinda weird on my skin when my nose got close to where I sprayed but the sillage did not smell weird. At the 5 hour mark it settles very beautifully and it will be a very good smell on top of sunscreen and other body lotion that are more coconut or pineaple scented!

This to me is definitely reminiscent of Guerlain’s Coconut Fizz— without the aquatic notes. Very adult tropical scent. Good sillage and not overly sweet nor very creamy unpleasant. Very lovely to wear during summer days. The tiare flower emerges in the dry down but not overwhelming enough. That’s perfect for my taste. Love it!! Great surprise by Mr. Cresp. Well done Sir!
