Highwayman

In a search for a new go-to scent for my husband, this was a no-brainer to try by the name and notes. It's a bit odd, but I thought it smelled great. Slightly sweet, slightly metallic, and earthy. Warmth and coolness are broth present in this scent and the "temperature" fluctuates throughout the day as either the tobacco or the metallic notes strengthen and then fade. It is a close scent, but surprisingly long lasting. I could only smell it right up on him, but considering this smell has a nighttime feel, the closeness of the scent was maybe a little disappointing. It's more of a piece of art than a scent for hitting the bars.

Yep, that's my cuppa tea. "An irresistible mix of gentleman and bad-boy. Riding leathers, dark night air, forest oakmoss scattered across an old dirt road, fine linen lace, a trace of campfire smoke, and a pinch of gunpowder." This is a really pleasant oakmoss + smokiness + dirt on my skin, a great combo. To top it off, the perfume is inspired by the poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes which was made into a song by Loreena McKennitt in 1997 and basically defines my childhood so... thanks for that flashback. 8.5/10

This is an incredible scent. It does not feel like wearing perfume at all. It is like having spent a night wearing old leather and sitting at a campfire a few nights ago. It is a scent of having spent time outdoors, while not doing so. Incredible and reassuring. It is not a summer scent (maybe for summer nights) but will work well in other seasons. It is long-lasting but does not project too hard. It is a very personal experience.

first whiff is nothing but the smell of leather and the men’s section of macy’s for some reason. it reminds me of my dad’s leather jackets and when he would take me shopping on sundays. its comforting to me. the scent isn’t heavy or oppressive at all it feels like a warm hug to me. it transformed into something different after sitting for maybe half an hour? it smells sweet but not in a dessert or pastry way, and it smells cold so im getting the cold night air from it as listed and maybe that oakmoss mentioned too? and going in for more smells of it i can catch a faint smell of gunpowder as well. the more that i think of it i do like smelling like this it makes me feel some sort of gender euphoria (im a trans man) so i’m considering picking up a fs of it! (its been an hour or two and the scent of night air and leather quieted down to a more intense gunpowder) smell

ladyofoldboots has it right- the notes oscillate, and like most essential oil blends, really only sit on the skin and don't project beyond a hug. Linen and tobacco-oakmoss are the most prominent notes, after that, some sweet wet earth, sweetness arriving from both the oakmoss and the tobacco. I really wish leather were the star of the show here, but it's barely present. Still, has a lovely intimacy, even if it misses the RUGGED nature this scent advertises. If you layered just a BUTTLOAD of leather on top of it, you'd have something Really nice.

I like to try fragrances that have the gunpowder note. Highwayman is one of the nicest fragrances with it. The leather note really works well with the others. A pleasant fragrance that is definitely masculine but, not too overpowering. If I had to describe it in one word I would use "rugged". One of my favorite Alkemia fragrances I have tried.

smokey leathery spice in night air. It's nice. More masculine than I would normally go for myself. Not powdery like other alkemia perfumes I have tried.

It's odd, I think that the metallic and leather notes have combined into something approximating laundry-fresh linen, and combined with the light leather scent (I don't get any tobacco or smoke - and tbh I don't know what gunpowder smells like, so I could be misreading a note). Unfortunately I do get some powdery-ness, and this scent doesn't really follow through on its promise.

Gritty leather, green notes, weird plastic with a hint of sulfer that I think it the gunpowder. Not really wearable to me, and not really gunpowder. The plastic note and the gritty leather really make this too chemical on me. I adore many Alkemia fragrances, but this isnt' one that worked for me.
