Angeliki

Perfume compositions like this made me realize that chasing down vintage perfumes is futile. When I started collecting perfumes I went through a short "vintage chasing phase". Then stumbled upon Sultan Pasha and a few others from the independent realm and abandoned that ship. Angeliki is another example of such. Vintage aesthetic and glory with higher quality ingredients and on-par blending. On top of that, unique, adding new elements to replace the old and repetitive ones. Angelos dedicated this perfume to his grandmother, and when you smell it, you can tell he put his soul into this. Coincidently, it reminds me of my grandmother. Old charm, big personality, refinement, while also tender, and delicate. The opening uses a unique pairing of aldehydes, apricots, and pomelo. I pick up the first two more vividly. The heart is where this perfume sets apart from the rest and shines. A floral bouquet made up of the most uncommon floral accords. Wisteria, Fressia, and Lilacs. Not Roses, Jasmine, or Carnation, the usual suspects. He nailed these accords, as they are not easy to pull off. The base reminds me of the structure I find in perfumes like Morah, or Diaghilev, two that are dear to me. It is rich, deep, and multifaceted. Resins, Oakmoss, Leather, and a generous amount of Civet. Huge projection and excellent longevity for those who constantly complain: "They don't make them like that anymore". I struggle with big perfumes, but this one doesn't bother me, as it contains natural ingredients for the most part. If you love old-school perfumes, this one is a no-brainer. Those who love floral perfumes and Orientals will also find much to enjoy here. I believe it is the best from the house, as it should, given the personal significance it has for its creator. Angeliki is an homage of the creator to his late grandmother , who was a perfume lover and she favored heavy chypres. Angeliki is a chypre so multi-layered that every hour that passes by , you get something different. It evolves slowly and it makes you think it’s something from 100 years ago, when houses like Guerlain and Coty made masterpieces that would last for eternity. You smell a lot of oak moss , with a light veil of smoky birch tar that envelops the oak moss , and lets the florals in the composition shine through. The florals are classic and gothic and the oud used here is light but makes Angeliki stand out from the sea of classic chypres available in the market. There are some light citruses in the opening that brighten the composition and give hints of sweetness as well. Overall, it’s obvious that Angelos poured his heart into this creation, and I can’t stress enough how much lovers of chypres will love it! A masterpiece!

Creamy & indolic mixture of white florals. Really complex scent, so I had to give it two full wearing before I could write a proper review. It opens up with aldehydes & a great mixture of fruits like pear & apricot, which creates a really creamy & not too sweet opening. After the openings starts to subdue, a new wave of indolic florals appears. This is my favourite part of the scent, it feels like you put your nose down a flower and smell the pistil of it. A bouquet of different flowers appears, like freesia & lily of the valley. The scent smells like a pure & luxurious soap bar. Like something an elder woman would wear during special occasions. Clearly art in a perfume-way. The best part about it is that every whiff surprises you with a new direction. Sometimes there are small hints of benzoin, and sometimes you're greeted with an old school "urine-like" chypre. This will probably be something that I'll add to my collection.

i can agree with each and every testimonial below; this is indeed a lovely chypre scent. it opens up aldehydic with touches of pomelo, apricot and bergamot. the mid is a heaven for floral lovers, straight up floral bouquet, mainly wisteria, lilac and jasmine, don't get rosewood or rose sadly. the apricot still shines in the mid, balancing the powdery florals with this very light touch of fuzzy fruitiness. i won't explain the base as it is so complex, but it sticks with that classic chypre structure; oakmoss, animalic, and woody. overall, this is a very balanced chypre, you have bits of sweetness and fruitiness here and there. i would wear this in summer-spring-fall and it is perfectly unisex, strong, and projecting too. props to angelos for putting his whole heart out, in order to make this scent for his beloved grandma. overall, phenomenal chypre so 10/10

Angeliki is an artful and expressive capture of emotion, inspired by the perfumer’s 104 year old grandmother who had a particular soft spot for classical chypre perfumes. This scent definitely lives up to that idea, but with its own unique twist. As expected, the scent is dominated by a dense, earthy yet creamy oakmoss. Alongside this you’ve got bursts of airy aldehydes alongside musky, soapy notes of hyacinth, lilac and an array of other florals. In the base there’s a subtle whisper of smooth animalics and tolu balsam, which is contrasted by the thick, sweet rindy nature of pomelo and apricot. There’s a lot going on in this scent, and it smells phenomenal, but I’ve found I keep reaching for other fragrances when I’m in the mood for a classical chypre. I can see why this scent is so adored, but I simply don’t wear it unfortunately.

I am laughing hard at those people who said that Angeliki has very weak projection and longevity. Have they even tried it or are they hating just to hate ? I am curious. Angeliki has nuclear longevity , it stays on the skin for hours on end and on clothes , it stays on for days. It’s a beautiful creation overall, a classic style Chypre with modern elements , simply wonderful!

First few times I wore this I thought, Dang, his grandma loved some old school heavy duty floral musk perfumes! Now everytime I wear it, I think, wow he really loved his grandma. The base of this, with Oud and sandalwood and all kinds of soft animalics... it really glows with the warmth of a big hug. Fantastic stuff.

Best fruity floral chypre I have ever smelled. Wow wow wow! I may order a backup.

شروع ای گول زننده با تِم میوه ای،گُلی که بعد از چند دقیقه دگرگون میشه آروم آروم یک تلخی پر قدرت با تَه مایه های ریشه زنبق و کمی خود زنبق پیدا میشه که مُشک بسیار قدرتمند ای هم همراهی‌اش می‌کنه نُت های انیمالیک به نظرم کنترل شده هستند و از اون ور بوم نمی‌افتند و یه جورایی پست سر مُشک حرکت می کنند مُشک ای که وِجهه‌ی حیوانی داره و البته بسیار خُشک و تلخه که میشه این تلخی رو وام دار سایر نت ها مثل عود،لابدانوم،کندر،اپوپوناکس و ... هم دونست که در راس‌شون سیوت و کاستوریومه چرخش روایح در دل عطر خیلی جالبه بعد از دقایق ابتدایی که روایح مُشکی و انیمالیک غالب میشن،در چرخش های پیاپی،روایح گُلی هم به صدر میان و این ترکیب در عین انسجام و آمیختگی،بازی نُت حرفه ایی داره روایح گُلی هم اصلا شیرینی ندارند و حضورشون کنار نت های مُشکی و انیمالیک،هم راستا و هم مسیر اند انتظار پرفورمنس قدرتمند تر ای ازش داشتم توی هوای سرد ولی فقط خوب بود نسبت به غلظت و حجم و البته قیمت ************** scent:7/10 longevity:8.5/10 sillage:8/10 purchase value:1/10 ******** overall:6.1/10

A lot of animalics, with hints of something sweet and floral. Maybe fresh. I’m not impressed by this one, especially with how people talk about this one. Not a chypre scent, in my opinion. A chypre should be fresh and floral, and not make people think you have a civet in your bag. Although, I can see why people love this, and I’m happy to have this in my samples. But I would not wear this. 3/5

Indolic jasmine, old school musk, suede, ylang. Purple and yellow hues. Tons more happening here but too complex for my nose this morning. Gorgeous leathery vintage floral!

Did this person below me really just say ‘a chypre should be fresh and floral’ !? What chypre have you been smelling. They are earthy and more often than not, animalic!
