Cuir Fleurissant

Cuir Fleurissant from Angelos Olfactives. My favorite from the house next to Angeliki. Both share that "retro" quality and floracy, yet one is a Chypre while the other is a Leather perfume. It walks in the lines of other great floral-leather perfumes that make great use of violet, such as Cuir Cannage and Great Britain, but I enjoy this one better. It sits so well with my skin chemistry, but I did hear a few people having not such a great experience, so definitely sample it beforehand. On me, it behaves like a "Cuir de Russie" leather with a good amount of florals, a juicy bergamot that lingers forever, and some moss and resins in the base. As the name suggests, the leather accord and the floral bouquet are what you'll experience for the most part, and they are both finely executed. The opening greets you with a juicy bergamot that is stretched deep into the heart and balances the candied quality of the florals and the smokiness of the birch tar. The leather accord paints a deep brown color in my mind and feels incredibly textured. There is a smoky quality from the birch, after all, it is a Cuir de Russie, but on my skin, it doesn't overrule the other aspects, hence, it doesn't bother me one bit. It's perfectly dosed for my tastes. The florals are a major component here going hand-in-hand with the leather. It feels like a floral bouquet in which violet stands out the most. There is a candied quality to it that pairs well with the tart flavor of the bergamot. As time goes by, the leather loses its grip but the florals hang on tight. Resins and moss adjoin them in the later stages to shift the composition toward more of a Chypre-like experience. Overall, it is a delightful floral-leather perfume, and although it doesn't bring anything new to this genre, I believe it is among the finest. IG:@memory.of.scents

I was looking at the votes just now and I am shocked that 3 people said that projection and longevity is bad. They either had Covid when they tried it and they had lost their sense of smell or they are just straight up haters because there ain’t a chance in hell that they tried it and thought “oh this is weak and doesn’t last”...Cuir Fleurissant is extremely powerful and fills up a room easily , people will ask you what you are wearing while you are sitting 20ft away. It leaves a trail wherever you go and people will smell you after you leave the room for hours. I wish people would just try things properly and not vote out of spite just to bring something down.

Cuir Fleurissant evokes olfactive facets of birch tar , violet , brown suede , caramelized florals , and a richness that can’t be described with sheer words . For any fan of classic leathers like Xerjoff Homme , Knize Ten, and Great Britain by Roja , look no further because the quality of this one is pretty much unbeatable , especially for the price.

This is what a true leather gem of a fragrance should smell like. Hands down, the best leather I own ❤️

Strong, but light and airy. Salty smoke with aldehydic leather. You have to be at least 45 and own way too many black clothes to wear to this one. I’m proud of owning this sample, but I could never pull it off. 4/5

Opens with aldehydic with a citrus floral bias (I don’t really get birch tar here), but then eventually it settles down into a somewhat waxy, not completely indolic, but it’s somewhat restrained by the floral assortments that neutralizes the indolic aspect. This is married with a leather, not a natural one but a synthetic one (a rather muted one), alike to how @Farrque is putting it. I don’t get any other animalic associations that come off more dirty than the restrained indolic here, best way to put it is that it’s similar to a dirty purse found in slightly-b!tch by Filippo Sorcinelli, but not exactly the same, a bit cleaner in that regard, and not feminine here—a bit dirtier than something you’d find in Flash Back in New York by Olfactive Studio, though not too long after application this character becomes significantly more muted. Near the end of the life this frag, interestingly enough a kind of leather appears similar that of Dark Leather by Molton Brown. So really, a dirty, florally characterized leather in the useful life of the frag. Nonetheless an interesting spin on dirty leather, but doesn’t pique my interest here. This did not resemble Leatherize by DSDurga in any capacity.

Like others I’ve tried from this brand, Cuir Fleurissant evolves a lot during wear, eventually having no resemblance to how it starts. Which is good news because I do not like how it starts - an overwhelming birch tar that has the barbeque vibe you would expect from that note. I'm a patient person so I didn't scrub, and the tar completely fades leading to a softly smoky leather combined with a pleasant abstract floral, mostly muguet and mimosa to me with a somewhat powdery texture. As much as I like this, I cannot deal with the first hour.

I have tried 3 samples - this one, Grace d'Orient (clove and nothing else) and Vetiveria Animalis (Hyrax with some light vetiver). First of all, none of them is interesting or original, which is fine if Angelos Creations performed better. Their performance is abysmal. They have very moderate to light projection for the first hour or so, after that it is a skin scent for the next 2 or maximum 3 hours, and then they are gone. This one, Cuir Fleurissant opens big with smoke and leather. The birch tar here is very shy, the usual barbequed meat/fish smell is extremely light compared to any other fragrances in the same price range on the market today. Then there is something greenish and light, no obvious florals to speak of. An hour later it is aromatic greenish smoky/tar light leather. It is nice, but it is nothing animalic, nothing outrageous and nothing interesting. Nothing special as it has been done much better before and you can get something like this but better and much cheaper. 2 hours later it is a very light but still very nice scent. I like it and I wanna like this brand, but the performance does not match the price. Try before you buy. Don't believe all those rave reviews coming from people with 10-20 designer bottles in their collections.

Yeah @FloppyFlower... This is an unfortunate thing we have to deal with sometimes on this site with some of those that feel the impulse to leave bad faith hate reviews out of spite, possibly with ulterior motives to attack those interested in a brand. Just look at the comments on Yassemi and you'll see as well. I really like that one and it works really well with the people around me. I had to give one person the name. I don't understand any of what the dislike commenters were saying about it either. I didn't find it challenging in that way at all and I own primarily challenging scents.

Warm, oily leather with indolic jasmine, hint of osmanthus and other waxy flowers. Slightly pissy animalics working in the background.

Holy grail of a fragrance, just wow. Need a full bottle asap, I'm in love.
