Yloud-Yloud

As someone who loves ylang-ylang and natural ouds, this has been on my list to try for ages; I'm very pleased to say it lives up to the hype I had made for it in my mind. It is, first and foremost, an ylang-ylang dream. The absolute used here is divine, thick and luscious with a tropical banana aspect to it. I tend to prefer perfumes that take ylang-ylang to a darker, denser, creamier place, and this delivers exactly that. The oud oils here are not the main character, but they are what take the perfume a step beyond just a simple study of ylang-ylang materials. At the open, the oud has a nutty-woody character, a bit savory and aromatic; as it dries down, the orris and oud (with a touch of airy osmanthus) create a sort of powdered-suede accord that is so supple and charming you can just sink into it. One of my favorite aspects of Angelos's perfumery is the way he paints with leather notes, and it was a welcome surprise to see this facet emerge in Yloud-Yloud. What has been a delight throughout my wearing of this is, even hours later as it dries down and you start to lose the ylang-ylang on your skin, the flower still blooms in the air around you. It has a wonderful sillage, casting almost narcotic yellow flowers into the air any time I walk around. It's a magnificent rending of the flower, with the oud rounding out the absolute, giving thickness and weight to the petals; I would easily recommend this to any ylang-ylang fan.

another banger from angelo! sampled this from the sample he left in my order and wow! this is a refined vintage scent just like his grace d orient but both are completely different scents because i thought they would be really similar based on the accord & note breakdown but surprisingly, not! this is heavy on the oud, ylang-ylang, and osmanthus, with a bit of spice, leathery & musk-like qualities in the back, really amazing floral-oriental scent. (opens up slightly funky and animalic though due to the high doses of oud) i love how all of angelo's work are light & airy but they still project. works in summer nights! really lovely, another masterpiece from this house 👏🏻 10/10 (flawless)

This shouldn’t work—yellow floral + oud + civet. And yet, it does. At first spritz, my senses are utterly confused. What is this? Where is it going? Why—ahhhhhhhhh. 😏 Not even a minute later, I’m starting understand the counterbalance of the yellow floral, with an emerging, even deeper floral, and the multi-woodiness, light musk, touch of animalic, just like a touch of amber, spices, and grounded in resins. I can’t say that I’ve smelled this before and that’s surprising and refreshing. It’s also incredibly addictive. Well done!

A beautiful fragrance. This has all of the enjoyment of wearing a complex Chypre with the play of light and darkness whilst simultaneously feeling entirely contemporary, exploring new spaces of the perfume landscape. The florals are sensual and compelling, the animalic notes purr and hiss gently, the oud adds depth. It has a sherberty feel on the skin. What's unique though (and quite extraordinary) is the peaceful and melancholic feeling wearing it brings. Angelos is an exceptional perfumer.

A hard no for me. I intend to later get back to my challenging decantsd and perfumes this one included but right now I cannot even with Yloud. I dont even know if it’s the osmanthus or why is it hellbent on disturbing my poor senses.

Beautiful blast of tropical yet creamy sweet ylang-ylang, contrasting a rough awkward oud blend that comes off as a bit sharp, but also pleasantly dirty. It smooths down into a lovely sandalwood, with support from resins and florals. Besides the awkward addition of oud, which mostly leaves a resinous animalic touch in the middle stages, I found this to be quite safe and surprisingly well-blended, which is not only rare for these sorts of brands, but specifically for these sorts of perfumes where the intention may be to showcase the rare materials aggressively, but that's thankfully not the case here. From the few "creations" I've tried from this brand, I've found that Angelos tends to perform best when making pleasant vintage perfumes (from what I've tried, this and Irida), and while some of his non-vintage creations are still unique, they tend to be quite astringent and awkward.

Creamy banana (ylang), aldehydes, civet, indolic jasmine, hint of balsamic and oudy smokiness and a ultra-smooth leather. Utterly gorgeous and a definite must-try for fans of vintage perfumes. My nose is glued to my hand!
