Seduction in Black

The last time I reviewed a fragrance on Fragrantica was probably around 2015 or 2016. I had to make sure I recovered my login credentials just so I could post my thoughts on what I think is the best $14 I spent on a 100ml bottle of fragrance ever (outstripping the vintage Nautica Voyage). I've had this on my eBay cart forever and I have always come across positive reviews of this fragrance even though it received zero coverage in YouTube channels. Finally pulled the trigger and when upon first spray, it came out completely different to what I was expecting... Seeing how almost everyone has likened this to Armani Code and even La Nuit, immediately I knew that all these reviewers are wrong. The astringent first 30 seconds of synthetic citrus/plum/berry is taken over by warm cardamom and nutmeg notes and the projection is amplified into what turns into a rounded 'suede' note that is unquestionably reminiscent of and 90% identical to the now-rare gem Midnight in Paris by Van Cleef and Arpels...and just like Midnight in Paris, Seduction in Black stays linear through most of its lifespan of 4-5 hours on skin and 8+ hours on clothes. It surrounds you with the warm cashmere-y suede and cardamom note that projects extremely well from clothes and with enough gusto to earn compliments from 10 feet away. It's a dry scent but it's a happy scent. Definitely does justice to it's namesake 'Seduction'. It invokes warmth, intimacy, and maturity. Confident, classy and yet understated. The woody organic suede notes are not for everyone, but its creamy undertones of musk may help you graduate from the highschool of perfumery into college. Most will shy away from this, but the rest will know what I mean when I say this is one of the best memory-weaving scents out there even for bottles costing 10 times as much. This is not a holiday scent, but it calls for a fireplace, flannel, hot cocoa or even a black-tie dinner date - its linear lifespan isn't constrained to just one setting. Any place that calls for intimacy is the right setting for this fragrance. Towards the end of its life, you'd notice subtle sweet notes of tonka that is extremely well rounded with amber, cardamom is ever-present. Its synthetic opening a distant fading memory by now.. Definitely cooler weather scent, but I have a feeling its quality is subjective. The whiffs of this scent would catch you off-guard with its goodness everytime. It is addictive. I could be writing about Midnight in Paris at this point and it would still be true for Seduction in Black. Antonio Banderas is one the rare celebrity fragrance houses that makes it worth every penny with most of its products and although I haven't tried all his offerings, this could very easily be the crowing jewel of the line. I never keep backup of cheapies...well because they are cheap and accessible. However, I won't think twice about ordering ahead for this bottle because if it were to ever be discontinued or changed, that leave my heart Black. As far as the cliche goes with cheapy goodies, YSL or D&G or Dior could be making this exact fragrance and people would be raving about it's quality. Scent - 9 Longevity - 6/8 (skin/clothes) Sillage - 7 Presentation - 8 Uniqueness - 7 (only MIP and Bvlgari black remotely identical) Value - 10 Repurchase rating - 10 I still have my 3 empty bottles of MIP stored away because I may never have the opportunity to buy another again. However, for the juice itself, I can happily say that I may easily replace it with Seduction in Black for chump change and be graced by the same wonder. If you spent anywhere between 14-18 dollars on a 100 ml, pat yourself on the back son, because this is a legal steal.

FRUITY SLIGHTLY CREAMY LIGHTLY POWDERY/MUSKY MILD INCENSE/SMOKEY SPICY LIGHT AQUATIC AB Seduction in Black is a really GREAT SMELLING frag (even though the quality might not be that great) with GOOD PERFORMANCE and DECENT PROJECTION: Starts off like alcohol, which dissipates into fruity (like berry fruity) then light vanillic creamyness (from the tonka) along with a mild watery note that gets more prominent as the fragrance dries which creates this slight fruity juicy watery/light aquatic scent with light musk and light wood, the musk and wood adds a light powdery/smokey incensy/slight spicy accord, all the notes blend well to create a subtle yet still alluring fragrance (hence the name seduction), none of the notes are overly loud (which is a good thing because of the frags syntheticness) however none of the notes smell cheap i think this allows them to make a great smelling composition, definitely a "mass appealing" fragrance; smells very similar to Ralph Lauren Polo Double Black, fruity fresh clean with slight darkness but without the coffee & spiciness of Double Black, i'd say it's more AB Seduction in Blue but built for cooler weather or night use. Projection/Sillage: DECENT; it's a light scent not a projection monster, but it's aromatic and definitely noticeable when initially sprayed for about 1-2 hours then remains an in-close fragrance. Performance/Longevity: GOOD; will last on avg about 5-7 hours (last 24 hrs on clothes).

Seduction in black is a solid fragrance and one of my favorites in my collection. First I’ll start with how it smells, fruity sweet slight citrus is what I get especially the black currant (one of my fav notes) and not to long after I get the cardamom with the amber and tonka bean to give it that vanilla vibe. Smooth and soft all around as well being woody with a lil spice still similar to blue seduction so it does have an aquatic feel still. Longevity is lacking lasting anywhere from 3-6 hrs (I get about 4-6 and becomes soft skin scent after the first 2-3 hrs). Layering could help but is weaker to many others you may pair it with. Arm’s length projection for the first hour & half then stays close to body. IMO anyone should wear what they want but I think this leans more masculine still. Most likely for 20-30+ as an evening, (date) night fragrance for the spring and summer time maybe early fall. $19 for 200ml on fragrancenet so you definitely can’t beat that and for sure over spray. Overall I’ll give 7/10 objectively , 8.2/10 personally .

hello guys, will tell you something funny, dont kill me, but this fragrance has a bit of Aventus in it on the opening, its def not a clone as it goes in different direction on dry down. but the bergamote and blackcurrant definitely reminds me of fruity Aventus, and also mont blanc explorer as well as benz select. on drydown it goes lil sweet bt the freshness stays like blue seduction, similar citrus used on the opening for both. people say its similar to Code by Armani but its more like a bit darker version of Suduction in blue really. rock this after the sun goes down. inexpensive gem.longevity is moderate but buy a 200ml, decant some of it and keep refreshing every 2/3 hours, people will love it on you so much. not offensive at all. i LOVE how nice blue and black seduction are, well done Antonio Banderas. 8/10

damn this thing is just gorgeous. Even better than blue seduction. I bought the small 50ml for 11 bucks but I should have gone for the big 100 or 200 ml bottle and soak myself in it because its hard to overspray and the longevity is just average. Very seductive as the name already suggests. Perfect for a summer evening but useable all year round except for winter. Also not generic, pretty unique with its sweet and strong black currant note. Maybe the slightest slightest hint of Aventus but only with some phantasy. Girls absolutely love it. PICK IT UP, trust me for that money you get something you won't regret. You will only regret buying the 50 ml like I did...

Seduction in Black really lives up to its name. The black currant and bergamot in the opening gives you a sweet, almost edible opening; the spices in the middle sets the romantic mood; the tonka bean, amber, musk, and cedar in the base will have everyone asking who is that smelling so good. This is a very balmy fragrance; so you can't overspray - it will cause a headache. This was done similarly to Armani Code, La Nuit De L'homme, Ferragamo Black, etc. Last about 6 - 8 hours with 4 sprays (2 front neck, 1 chest, 1 to back of neck). Makes the wife pretty wild.

Really nice! Like twlahue said some reviews before, Seduction in Black is a mix of Blue Seduction and Givenchy Play Intense. And I would say that this fragrance has a little ressemblance with La Nuit de L'Homme too. It lasts, but it could be better in projection. For that reason, it's great for romantic occasions, and nice & innofensive for office. Those who say this fragrance is a copypaste of Armani Code... Uhmm well... seriously, go to check your nose, please.. And it's more masculine than the most of black/sweet masculine fragrances.

The Wifs that you get of this one When your not expecting it is what does it for me. The sillage. So Unique and like the comment before me said just Gorgeous. Best Cheap fragrance in my opinion and its funny because this was my first Cheapie when I first got into frags. Smelled the sillage of my friend and just fell in love with it! I’ve tried everything else, but everytime I where this it reminds me why I fell in Love! Lol, the best cheapie.

I love the juicy opening of the blackcurrent. It is reasonably priced and if it came with a more expensive name would probably get higher ratings. The drydown is ok but just so. A similar musk that can be found in others of this type. It lasts It projects It appeals And most important it leaves $ in my wallet to spend on the date. I like most of Banderas offerings. Always a good price to smile ratio. Excellent stocking stuffer for xmas

Antonio Black Seduction is sexy sweet fragrance for men. The smell is awesome and smooth. Need more sprays for good projection. The projection is good for 2 hours & Longevity is about 4 hours on my skin, then gets close to skin. But this is great for romance. U can wear for dating. For good projection u must spray some on ur cloths. This one suits only for young guys. Projection:5, Longevity:5, I give 6/10. I Love it.

Very, very good cheapy. It's like darker/night/fall-winter version of Blue Seduction. Very fruity and i agree with what Joy said, there is a little bit of Aventus/Explorer here and not just during the opening. That fruitness and freshness is there all the time. Got this on sale for around 15$ and for that price it's a fantastic fragrance that smells way more expensive.

This is good product, especially carrying the house of antonio puig, back in 90's I wore aqua cuorum, same maker of antonio banderas fragrances. I think spanish brand (loewe,mango,zara,springfield) blooms in asia and develops itself, competing with other prestigious brands from france,german,UK. For the two with perfume product, I adore loewe and antonio banderas.

Sprayed this on myself in the shop because I was curious and I'm in loooooove. I'm thinking of getting it for summer cause wooooow😭 admittedly, it smells rather basic on paper but it works very well with my skin chemistry and actually smells more interesting to my nose then so hey - a win is a win!

received plenty of compliments with this, mostly used for night but once in a while i will get em out for a bit of day use. Definitely a staple frag to have for me. Reminds me of Black XS but less heavy and more fresh. Great in cold weather must try

I bought it for my husband as a blind buy. The smell is something between Golden secret (but not so sweet) and Spirit (but not so spicy). I love it on my mans' skin. It gives creamy vibes of tobacco and pepper.

this is my 2nd bottle of AB seduction in black.lovely juice for men, stay on my skin 10+ hours, great projection,great sillage, very masculine scent.And the best part is great value :)

Closest Flanker to Armani Code I know of. Little sweeter and notable Blackberry. The Tonka Bean has that sweet Almond like sweetness in the end. Rich, chemically enticing.

This is a very nice fresh fruity fragrance thats similar to Blue Seduction with added spice Lasts around 5hrs ( 8hrs on clothes ) but great value at £20 for 200ml.

Well for starters this perfume base note is very similar to hugo boss selection. On the contrary the stay and sillage of the perfume is a sad story.

Underrated fragrance... sweet but not too sweet, not powdery and not overpowering, just a great date night scent. I love it!!!

When my man is wearing this, I literally cannot take my hands off of him. It is my Kryptonite and renders me defenseless.

Smells rich and sophisticated. Somewhat resembles to The Armani Code (EDT,OG). Performance is not bad at all.😊

This is a blind buy I made based on several reviews from YouTubers. If you are familiar with Blue Seduction, you are going to smell the resemblance right away, specially in the opening. It is very fruity and somewhat aquatic. The blackcurrant note is easily distinctive and particular. I cannot think from top of my head of another fragrance with a similar opening. The fruity notes are very long-lasting, however the woody and amber notes become more notorious. After a few hours you can even catch whiffs of praline, specially if you have sprayed in on your clothes. very pleasant although not a strong projector. I've used it for the office, day time dates, church and family gatherings. It will get you a few compliments but nothing extremely enthusiastic. This is NOT a seductive fragrance and I would not recommend it for a first date nor Netflix and chill, you'd need something warmer for that. IMO Blue Seduction is better and more pleasant, however if you can grab this one as well, I would encourage you to do so. Having both is super cheap and it doesn't hurt at all.

Not too shabby..!! Smells great and I believe, very underrated. Seduction Black is a nicely done blend of amber, cardamom, musk, nutmeg, and tonka bean notes in which the combination is very easy on the nose. I was pleasantly surprised this morning. While the projection/sillage is within arm's length distance, the longevity performance lasted most of the day and still solid on clothing. As noted in some previous reviews, I am not a fan of celebrity fragrances, but this one I might hang on to.. Probably geared more toward night time wear in fall or winter, Black is sufficiently "soft" to allow wear to most events and during most times of the year. The "price is right" for the novice collector to add to their collection. For the more experienced "frag head", take a pass on Black unless you are "stuck" and need a fragrance - in that case, I can recommend adding to your collection. Final tally for Black is 3.9 stars out of 5 stars. Black is a solid "like", but fails to carry the "umph" to achieve "love" status. Enjoy your day and happy fragrance hunting...

Seduction in Black is a wonderful fragrance that immaculately mixes gourmand and aquatic accords. SiB opens with sweet 'n creamy, juicy dark berry notes before quickly being accompanied by the gentle spices in the heart. It stays very linear until a sultry, almost soapy clean "wet" musk sweetened with amber and peppered with woodsy notes bring the journey to a soft, skin scent end. There's a nuance that gives SiB an aquatic feel. The tonka bean/vanilla vibe coupled with the nutmeg really play well together and create a gourmand aspect. The first night I wore this fragrance, I got two compliments. Both caught me by surprise and truly solidified Seduction in Black's desire to be taken seriously. It's easy to wear so it makes an excellent blind buy/gift for someone. As long as they are okay with sweeter smelling fragrances.

Nose Note #324 I love JusttheFactsMan, but I hate to disagree. I've reviewed another 5 from Antonio Banderas just today, and this one, compared to all, is the best. It may not be a serious scent, but it's not as "prom" as Versace Eros. I agree that a "grown man scent" is more like One Man Show, Fahrenheit, Drakkar Noir and other strong fougeres and this would definately not fit a 45+ yr old man so nicely. But if you abstract from the idea of age, I think that this is a solid fragrance. To me this is on par with Versace Man Eau Fraiche (read Blue Seduction). It indeed dries down to a bubble gum, but what a nice bubble gum. You just have to try something really bad at the rackstore and then try this. The difference is crystal clear.

I remember really liking this stuff 6 or 7 years ago, until my roommate used it all... I finally got around to buying a new bottle, and I'm surprised! This is similar to Axe Dark Temptation. I didn't remember it that way. Funny how much tastes can change in 6 or 7 years. Even still, if that's your thing, this isn't a bad scent at all. It's kind of an all occasions scent, sweet, spicy, kind of a romantic scent if you're a younger guy. Seems to last about 6 hours which is decent, and the price is really good. Worth trying! Especially if you want an EDT fragrance in the same vein as Axe Dark Temptation, or even Axe Gold Temptation. It's really somewhere in between those two.

the best celebrity fragrance i might say. smells so delicate, and has a creamy tonka and vanilla dry down. reminds me of armani black code, but way more cheaper. i don't have longevity issues with this frag. 6-8 hours on my skin. the opening is kinda similar with antonio banderas blue seduction, but a bit more creamier, if you know what i mean. less citrusy, a bit more sweetier. very underrated for celeb fragrance. i think it's worth to try. recommended for evening wear, and very versatile, not just for fall and winter, it's all season frag. longevity : 8/10 projection : 7/10 overall smell : 7.5/10 great replacement for armani code, and YSL la nuit de l'homme.

This cologne smells like Blue Seduction mixed with just a bit of Givenchy Play Intense. I love both colognes very much, however I still have some reservation about this one. At this point I like it, but don't love it. I love Play Intense, it is one of my favorites, but I am not sure I like the drydown of Play Intense all that much. After about 6 hours Play Intense, kind of goes in a direction, I am not as fond of. Seduction in Black starts where Play Intense ends. It smells like Blue Seduction, mixed with Play Intense's drydown. Very good, but I am going to have to spend some more time with it to see if it goes up or down on my list.

My fiance normally wears Drakkar Noir, but decided to branch out one day and purchase this at CVS for a really good price. I was stunned at how good this smelled-it has a little bit of an aquatic vibe actually even though it's categorized as a spicy oriental. We happened to be at a wedding that night and he was getting compliments galore. I love this scent on him, and it lasts forever. We could still smell this the next morning. Very nice quality for a celeb fragrance and excellent sillage and longevity.

This smells similar to PACO RABANNE BLACK XS, but not as complex. in the never ending pursuit of the "latest and greatest" fragrances, it is easy to pass this one up. but there is more to this one then you might expect. it will never be a "classic" but don't underestimate its' simple, and tasteful character. everyone you meet will like this understated fragrance.

I have recently bought this perfume, which at the start reminded me of a deo- i kinda hate.. which it is not.. However, this is a perfume which is "sweet"... And its logentivity is good. I did check with the girls in the office... and i did get a thumbs up... Nice price too...

Great aroma; great longevity; great projection. Finally, great price. Really like the famous 'Armani Code' ('Giorgio Armani'), this is more seductive & less stocky. Very good for the night. Update. No, it's *not* like 'Armani Code'. But yet, a great work.

Well, nothing special from this fragrce, tonka bean, nutmeg n probably coffee in opening. Not so strong, smooth and have a bad longevity. Just 2 hours on my skin. Night and (maybe) romantic fragrance. 7/10 for at all.

used it as an everyday scent for some time, gotten some compliments on it. fruity for sure but i can smell some woody aspects too. great scent, i would say it is unisex tho, not too masculine.

Spicy, sexy, and overall very appealing. It reminds me of Versace Eros Flame (less orangey this one). The only thing that lets it down is the performance, which is unfortunately weak.

Fabulous cologne! Dark and spicy, a little sweet, a hint of citrus, and a lot of sexy. I am very curious now as to how Antonio's other colognes smell.

Good for the price. But don ́t expect anything special.

Antonio Banderas Seduction in Black, what I have to say is this is a bit of a weird scent. It is to me a lighter and less 1 Milliony Antonio Banderas The Golden Secret meets a lighter Y'ves St. Laurent La Nuit de l'Homme and Pitbull Man. These three scents are spicy scents. This has the distinct cardamon note that La Nuit and Pitbull both have and the nutmeg that is highlighted in Golden Secret as well as the common generic cedar note shared between the three. The scent is nice but a little bit generic. The performance of Seduction in Black is a little lacking and this is what really hurts it to me. It is a moderate sillage performer but it don't last too long before going into the skin scent territory. It does that for about an hour and it lasts a total of about four hours on my skin. It is better for a date than a club. Makes me glad I got 3 1.0oz/30ml bottles rather cheap on eBay. I rate Seduction in Black a 6.8 out of 10. OK projection and decent longevity but a nice smell for a sometime cheap price.

Blind bought the bottle after reading the reviews here. I wasn ́t expecting much, since I wanted a cologne to use home (so in my case I do not regret buying it). Its an OK scent, but, unfortunately, after I sprayed it, I could not smell it for more than an hour. The sillage and longevity are VERY weak. Of course, it could be MY skin... (but, in general, many other fragrances I wear have excellent performance... so I really don ́t think its my skin). That being said, in despite of the price being really cheap, I wouldn ́t recommend this fragrance for the reasons above (I tried it outdoors once to test its performance and it just faded away in no time). EDIT: I tried spraying it 6 times (2 in the neck, 2 in the chest and 2 in the arms - which I don ́t do with any other fragrance) and sprayed it directly in my clothes. The oppening is the highlight. But after 20 min, I can only smell a soupy / powdery base. Try before you buy it. Maybe you ́ll be luckier than I was.

Its very overly syntehtic and extremely weak, sometimes when i spray it i cant figure out if its too much or too little. Its not too terrible as some other fragrances, but i definitely wouldnt wear this.

Scent is awesome,low on performance.
