Lemon Island

My first try of Lemon Island on paper was disappointing considering my expectations. Lemon seemed to me dominant and overpowering with a tangy zest, while I was looking for a fair balance with Vanilla and Jasmine. A little rough and dry, like a rancid and pungent sunscreen. But then... I tried it on my skin...... and it was perfect. WARNING: I must admit that the first 5 minutes annoy and bother me, but then it turns into a crepuscular scent, when the sand has cooled underfoot. We're far from sunscreens and other seaside resorts. Picture an untouched exotic island, not a touristic caricature. Here is the hydromineral smell of a wild and volcanic beach. I can smell the lemon trees, salted by the iodized breeze that the wind crushes on its citrus fruit. A semi-arid and rocky coastline, with impoverished and generally sterile vegetation. An aromatic and raspy note introduces a landscape of herbaceous drought, reproduced by what looks like an Indian Jasmine, projects me on a desolate land, near the Nile in Egypt or on a beach in Jordan... After 30 minutes I like its lightly powdered appearance, as well as its sparkling and saline citrus trail. A perfume that contains no salt but strangely reminds me of the smell of Seaweed, without being yet another vulgar and ordinary seaside fragrance. I would also gladly wear it in winter, as it is rather cold and becomes much more creamy and dimensional after an hour. I prefer it to "Clémentine California" without any shame. People should smell it properly, instead of quickly jumping to conclusion. Most of them in this comment section unfortunately seem to have failed understanding that extraordinary perfume. 👎 ❤️ 10/10 ❤️ Atelier Cologne made the ugly decision to NO LONGER name its perfumes in French. So we end up here with cheap names such as "Lemon Island" which lacks delicacy and elegance. Altering their identity in order to attract an international clientele, in order to sell faster and more. Where has the Niche spirit gone? And the French-Touch so claimed by Atelier Cologne in its early days? Lemon Island is a masterpiece, although it's almost a shame that it doesn't contain: - Tuberose - Ylang (from French Polynesia) - Frangipani - Heliotrope - Sambac Jasmine - Gardenia

Gentle, calming, lovely scent. The initial spray has lemons; it’s pretty sharp, borderline screechy for the first 5 minutes then settles into something quite leafy and subtle. The lemon is present for the first hour or so until it gets lost in the white florals. The white florals are present throughout the life of the fragrance. Not sure what Indian jasmine smells like exactly, but you do get subtle hints of jasmine. To my nose, the most prominent smell is tuberose and it has a chalky quality to it, especially further in the dry down. The florals seem to push off the skin pretty strongly; projection is pretty good for the first hour or so (more than 1 meter) and creates a nice scent bubble around you. At the base, there is a sweetness that can be attributed to the vanilla; it’s very soft and natural. Overall, it’s a beautiful scent. I feel like this scent would do great in the heat of summer, and even has a faint smell of sunscreen. Unfortunately leans a bit too feminine to my liking but I would wear to bed or if I’m alone with my wife. 9/10

Would like to cut all the negative reviews in here. It seems as everyone is used to AC zingy fresh quick dying scents (so do I) but this is an entirely new direction to them. I feel marketing for it it is VERY unfortunate with all luscious tropics and azure shores making people think of some Bora-Bora holiday escape with fruits and sun and tropical cocktails. It is not. I expected tropical and got soft sandy beach vibe hidden between Albion cliffs of Dover. I like it, there is an ozonic presence to this scent. Soft musks and juicy blast of lemon in the opening. Everything is very unisex. There is definitely salt and that mineral touch in there what TF has in their oud minerale that makes me think of California dream by LV and MM Beach walk too. These are all not dupes by any means, they all carry that salty sea breeze accord. Dry down is quite velvety, soft airy vanilla. All summer appropriate, all gender appropriate, projection is moderate, longevity 6h easy but goes to skin scent after 4 hours. Stays way better if applied on hair.

I really like this fragrance. At first I was unsure because of the vanilla dry down. I was expecting more of a fresh lemon burst, but the vanilla makes it creamy and a bit gourmand. I kept going back to it though, until I finally broke down and bought a bottle with no regrets. Surprised at the low rating. This is a light, yummy, lemon, vanilla scent with a touch of floral. People say it’s too lemon and they expected something more, but the name is LEMON ISLAND! It’s sorta point blank in your face with that. So the fact people are shocked by nothing more than that is amusing. I love this though. And for a citrus, it lasts on my skin pretty long. Just sample and keep in mind it’s a creamy citrus, not a fresh burst of citrus.

UPDATE: I get endless compliments on this scent, I've been told it smells differently from a distance than next to my skin I'm a newbie to the fragrance world, so take my review with a grain of salt. This perfume reminds me more of Mugler's Alien rather than Replica's Beach Walk or Tom Ford's Eau De Soliel Blanc. Lemon island, to me, has a very strong jasmine note, almost as strong as the lemon. It's a very summery fragrance, and I doubt I would reach for it during winter/fall/spring

First smelt this from a sample as a part of sephora pick n mix last summer. Loved it and had to get a bottle straight away bought mine from Notino and arrived within a few days. I think I prefer it compared to Maison Margiela Under the lemon tree which I also had a sample of. Lemon Island is a fresh, zesty fragrance perfect for spring and summer, more of a daytime fragrance. it lasts about 2-3 hours on my skin, but on clothes a bit longer. Love it!

😍 an absolute wonder 😍 A very zesty Yuzu with creamy jasmine and seaweed ! I am crazy about this one, it's so different ! Very delicate and clever, it's truly unique compared to the current mainstream trend. It's a masterpiece !! My husband loves it too, to be fair. I also wear it during Winter, there's something cold about that perfume. A wonderful fragrance.

Purchased the pomelo paradise scent and got lemon Island as a sample. I wore lemon island for the first time and it smells delightful! The fragrance smells like lemon cake, imo. It has good longevity, not sure about sillage, but will keep wearing it to see if its F/B worthy. So far, im impressed.

Very simple but charming fragrance. Feels like a day on a beach with a good book. People who claim it smells like a toilet cleanser, may I live in your bathroom? I will close my eyes when you’re doing your business.

This is beautiful. The lemon with jasmine really is different... nice and fresh. I don't detect any vanilla. I layer this with Bath and body works new White Tea and Sage lotion and body mist and wow! So good.

Love this for warmer days. Bright lemon w/no sweetness at first. Then the jasmine comes through with a base of nutty vanilla. The warmth lasts 6-7 hours while the original bright lemon lasts for 1-2 hours.

Tried today in Sephora, this is just excellent. I ended up with Clementine California from the same line, but this one will be next.

Lemon Island is a pleasant perfume. If you're expecting a sharp or realistic lemon in the vein of previous Atelier scents then you're going to be disappointed. What you do get is a perfume with a nice soft lemon opening (a bit in the style of soft lemons like Chanel Allure Edition Blanche) that is modified with a touch of gentle jasmine and vanilla. It's nice and gentle. The initial projection is between intimate and moderate for the first hour before it settles to just an intimate sillage. Half an hour in the balance changes to lemon and jasmine being equal partners with vanilla in a supporting role. One and a half hours in and the balance has changed with jasmine as the lead note with lemon and vanilla in a joint supporting role. Two and a half hours in and it is a jasmine scent with hints of vanilla and tiny hints of lemon. It begins to fade after three hours and lasts between six and seven hours in total. It's a like for me. Whilst this is nice enough I would still prefer Chanel Allure Edition Blanche for a soft lemon scent or a lemon and vanilla combination. If you want a fresh lemon I would steer you towards Guerlain's Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat or I Profumi di Firenze's Limone di Sicilia. I don't get any of this beach vibe talk, and definitely no wet dogs or saliva nonsense I'm reading in other reviews: sometimes I wonder if people are drinking the perfume rather than wearing it - that would at least account for the saliva comments! Nevertheless, this one seems to fit daytime in spring and summer.

I actually enjoy this one more than I thought I would. I thought this would just be a crisp lemon scent. At best: a pleasant and bright citrus that is juicy and easy to wear. At worst: lemon scented cleaning products. However Lemon Island took me by surprise. There are only three notes listed: lemon, jasmine and vanilla and I can definitely smell each. The jasmine and vanilla rounds out the bright lemon much more and turns the scent into something that has a bit more depth than I first thought. The slightly indolic jasmine and the ever so sweet vanilla give a sexiness to me that many citrus-forward scents lack. But what I really love about this scent is the saltiness. To my nose, there's a lot of salt to this fragrance and I love all manner of salty fragrances, especially when it comes to my tropical summery lineup. The salt really invokes the nostalgia of a tropical beach, but the vanilla and jasmine add warmth so I can totally see this being worn to dinner on a warm summer night in Hawaii. Overall, it's a nostalgic scent to me- one that transports me to an exact place and time. A Hawaiian island with salty hair, wearing a long dress to an outdoor dinner on the water. With all the mixed reviews I was expecting some nondescript lemon scent but in reality this is more up my alley than I thought.

I didn't expect much from this, but I'm pleasantly surprised! It's not a crisply clean lemon juice, if that's what you're looking for. It almost borders on becoming gourmond, but the vanilla isn't in a high enough dose to truly become cakey or anything. It serves to soften this though, and gives it femininity. There's only a modest amount of jasmine in here. I agree with a few folks that this smells salty. Do you know what's nice about forgetting about sample you ordered? It's being able to test things totally blindly without checking on here first, or being influenced (I check reviews after I deal with my own impressions) 😅😆 This definitely, definitely has some saltiness. Vanilla Vibes, and Olympéa claim to have salt included, but I actually get more in here despite it not being listed. Mmmm! 🍋🧂 This is relatively simply, and isn't great until it warms on the skin, and it does remain intimate. I could be biased, but I think the absolutely perfect application for this would be a platonic situation of close contact, or close quarters. I'm going to wear this to my BJJ class, it's a great choice for something along those lines. Overall though, I wouldn't call it a great deal regarding the cost, I think it should be less than half this expensive.

8/10 I very much enjoy this scent. I originally acquired it from Sephora as a sample and have been continuing to get samples when I have the chance. I now have gone through a couple samples and still have a couple left. Here is what I love about the scent. It is citrus. It is almost unisex (it leans slightly feminine). It is vanilla but not gourmand. It is almost overpowering but not quite. Once it dries down I don’t think it would be offensive to many people (I could be wrong about that though). From what I have written so far, you might be thinking that this fragrance would be at the top of my wishlist but it is actually not. I feel like there is so much to love but it is missing something that would add a bit of excitement or flare. If someone gave me like $1,000-$2,000 dollars to spend on fragrance it would be something I would buy but otherwise it is just not at the top of my list. A lot of the other written reviews that I have seen say a lot of different things that either the citrus is synthetic or too strong or it is too floral. I personally get like no floral note but just 2/3 lemon 1/3 vanilla. I think you might like it, love it, or hate it. Don’t blind but but if you run across a sample go ahead and pick it up.

I actually really like this perfume. I’m currently at the beach and I find myself reaching for it a lot. It’s not my favorite fragrance in the world, but I’m definitely surprised by its low rating as I still find it a pleasant summer fragrance. The scent has three main stages, for me. It opens with a yummy lemon blast which is just delicious. After that, it’s a very sweet, candy-like scent. Reminds me of something from my childhood that I can’t put my finger on....kinda like a mix between lemon drops and bubble gum. The last scent is very beachy. Someone below me described it as ‘crushed starfish,’ another as sunscreen-y. I think both descriptions are relatively accurate. Not unpleasant though. Sillage isn’t awesome, although occasionally people remark on its scent if it’s within ten min of my application. I feel like people only get the lemon scent though, the later beachy scent sits much closer to the skin. Longevity is similar, lemon/candy scent is pretty much gone within two hours but the sunscreen scent is there for a good 4 hours.
