Burgundy Oud

This right here is what Carved Oud to Oud Wood is. Similar to Oud Maracuja, but in my opinion smoother and more refined. It is not as strong, but definitely more wearable. I love clean ouds, and passion fruit is one of my favorite fruity scents. I really like the opening of the jammy, yet tart blackcurrant (pretty close to passion fruit) with a hint of cardamom rounding it up. The Oud is present, it is a western oud, it never goes too animalistic, or barnyard fecal. The florals in it are airy, soft and fruity providing an even cleaner, and rounded up feeling to the oud. The leather providing soft smokiness and texture to the oud. It is an excellent fragrance (top 10 in my collection) As it drys down it reminds me of Eastern European black currant tea with a slice of lemon, and honey in it. So to me extra few point for nostalgia.

Well, well, well. Does this perfume bear a striking resemblance to a well established and famous fragrance? It certainly does. Atelier Materi's Burgundy Oud shares a striking resemblance to Maison Crivelli's Oud Maracuja, particularly in their opening notes and heart. The captivating passionfruit scent is prominent in both. However, Burgundy Oud surpasses Oud Maracuja in its dry down; I find Oud Maracuja's dry down to be overwhelmingly cloying, unlike the sustained beauty of Burgundy Oud. Therefore, I would recommend Burgundy Oud instead of Oud Maracuja despite it clearly being the influence. I rate it 10/10.

Rich, intense and demanding, this perfume is strong. If you work in an office, don’t use too much to avoid making people hate you. I love the smooth transition from the top notes to the middle and base notes. It’s a masterpiece. However, it’s not a safe buy. Test it first and be prepared for its intensity if you are at the beginning of oud perfume’s journey!

A very nice fruity oud. Definitely see the similarities to Oud Maracuja, but it's a bit less offensive? The first time I smelt it, it literally made me think "This is what the color burgundy would smell like". I don't know how to explain it but the name is just a perfect match.

For those who aren't fans of Ombre Nomade (myself included), this is a great substitute. It's just as potent but is far less smoky and harsh. The fruits and florals really balance out that smokiness that Ombre Nomade is lacking; Nomade just smells like wood and smoke to me

Might be similar to oud maracuja to some, but this is way better than oud maracuja in terms of balance and clarity. My gf found this very sexy and not cloying at all like OM.

Yes they are similar. But it is better from all aspects from oud maracuja. It is clearer and more elegant. It is fresh but woody. Full bottle on the way. You have to try it

right off the bat, 7/10 for me... this is a lovely frag, esp the opening. cardamom with a jammy blackcurrant that is not cloying or sweet, comes off very naturally and a surprising juxtaposition to the woody/smoky/amber base that isn’t powdery and the smoke isn’t really smoky, it’s beautifully done. (wish the cardamom were true kerala cardamom, would of made this a solid 8.5/10 for me!) versatility is plus on this one. could be worn at the office or out on a date... year round. it’s only knock is it doesn’t contain any oud (at least to my nose) and it’s projection dies down after about 3-4 hours... (lil longer in warmer weather, but sub 60 it’s short lived) after which it becomes a skin scent. (but i can still faintly smell on my wrists in the morning after wearing for 12 or more hours) still though, i think this will grow on me due to its pleasant smell and unoffending projection... once it macerates a bit i think it will become even more livelier, time will tell. imo, this is the best out of the entire atelier materi line

Burgundy Oud achieves a good balance between oriental oud and western perfume. The composition seems quite simple, but there are some nuances that make it well-rounded. People have described the notes quite well, so I'll just mention a few things that stood out. First, the opening is executed very well. The cardamom and currant combo is beautiful. Too bad it only lasts 20-30 mins before giving way to the drydown Secondly, the oud makes its presence while maintaining wearability (i.e. doesnt smell like straight up shit or those fake plasticky oud notes). Performance is great, will last all day on skin (which is pretty typical for Extraits nowadays). Moderate projection for the first 2-3 hours. Overall, this is a refined, elegant, and understated take on the fruity oud genre. If you like simple things done well, try this.

The cardamon/blackcurrant opening is beautiful! But it doesn't last long, quickly descending into an oud, magnolia and leather combination. There's a faint scent of geranium, but it's well done and doesn't edge into cat urine territory. I wish the opening lasted longer, as I prefer it to the base notes. But the base notes do have amazing longevity; they're still strong by the end of the day. As far as oud scents go, this is a nice one. The floral hint keeps it from being too stuffy, and the oud itself is fresh and slightly powdery, without being too musky. The sillage really stands out in warm weather, otherwise it has moderate performance. I'll enjoy using up my sample of this!

I agree with the comments below. First impression is that this is a less smoky and leathery oud maracuja. This is less harsh to my nose but I love the passionfruit more than the smoothed out base notes of this one.

Wearing this today, and the first spray instantly took me back to the school years when I was 16 and extensively spraying myself with Lady Gaga's FAME perfume. 8/10

Smells great and different. Is like a less strong version of the oud maracuja.

Going through my samples of the extrait collection. This one I honestly expected to like more than I do. I'm really just not a huge fan of the Oud Maracuja DNA. When I read fruity oud, I expected it to be more bright, more uplifting and more funky (in the vein of King Blue) but this is just another fruity spin on the Ombre Nomade DNA. Eventually I lose the fruit and all I smell is a smoky/woody burnt oud like in Ombre Nomade. No offense to Ms. Perdriel, whom I really love as a perfumer and I love the house in general but this one is just not my jam. I can appreciate it for what it is, however. If you are a fan of Oud Maracuja and wonder what a refined, smoother version without any screechiness would be like, get your nose on this one. It lasts obviously quite long but never overstays its welcome, unlike Oud Maracuja which gives me a headache after an hour.

a classic oud amber resin like smell with controlled edges and a bright currant and citrus overtone balanced by a floral midtone, if you want oud that isnt musky or overly ambery/resiny then this might be right for you. good performance and projection and good sillage

Expensive car freshener. Bad copy of Oud maracuJà. Just get the real thing IMHO
