Trazarra

Something about Trazarra in its opening reminds me of a musky Canada Dry ginger ale, which quickly transforms to the dirtiest powdery heliotrope, as if the cherry-almond mauve blooms had some rough and tumble action with a playmate named Animalis. None of it is too loud or flashy, but it definitely is a sensuous number: Trazarra wouldn't have its issues of After Dark proudly displayed but rather have them stuffed under his New Yorkers. It winds down after a few hours to a granular-talc soft, musky sandalwood and sweet Avonade amber. If Shalimar had its Habit Rouge, then Avon's Timeless had it's Trazarra. It's so peculiar, I love it.

Spicy, tangy, soft, and comforting. Not nearly as aggressive as Kouros, and honestly it doesn't remind me of it other than to say that it's pretty old school, something obviously out of the late 70s. It's got a bit of twang but not too much. A little musky and a little powdery floral. Well worth the low prices you'll find on eBay.

So my vintage bottle has had a history of questionable storage, so there's no guarantee that the notes that I'm getting are what anyone else will find, but anyway... I'm smelling lemon up front, the type of lemon juice you get in the little yellow squeeze bottles. Then hyraceum, which has been well blended to give a bit of skank and smooth it out, without veering into "did they shit themselves?" territory. No other notes are clear enough to me to name. It's quite pleasant, probably not something I'd wear, but great for experiencing an earlier generation's trends. It would have registered as masculine in its era, but we're probably far enough removed now for it to be unisex.

Comparable to 1970s spicy-orientals except it's quieter, more powdery, and less obtrusive than any of them (Sex Appeal, please stop shouting). If you find it for super cheap it'll be okay for the price...just be advised that Trazarra does nothing that vintage Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur doesn't do better.

Tangy, animalic, powdery-floral, slightly sweet, spicy, and with a touch of dry woods. Sound appealing? In the same genral ballpark as Kouros. I noticed that you can still get the cologne formulation on ebay for low prices, so after looking at the notes and year of release, decided to go for a blind buy. If you've had any experience with old Avons, especially orientals, I think you will get what you expect here. I'd also say this would be a unisex niche scent if marketed today. It's quite far removed from today's synthetics, so if you are seeking a break from the usual aroma chemical suspects, this might be a great, low cost option. The notes are a bit vague, so the use of phrases such as "oriental notes" makes sense. The projection isn't along the lines of vintage Kouros, which might be an advantage for a lot of people, but it's got a similar idea to it (though not nearly as "urinal cake" as Kouros). Something else you can do with this kind of scent is to layer it, so that you use a little of a similar but more powerful and synthetic fragrance underneath this one (on the chest) so that it enhances these older fragrances. Overall, if you want a true "dirty" oriental but without the synthetics of today's niche and without the high prices, grab a bottle while prices are still low! It lasts at least as well as an Eau de Toilette, but projection drops off quite a bit after no more than two hours.

I bought this fragrance and fully agree with the previous review about it. In the middle of the sound there is a similarity to Kouros Yves Saint Laurent although Trazarra by Avon was released three years earlier. Fans of 80's perfumes will not be disappointed. Real flavor! Happy time!
