Excite

I think it great to see that Fragrantica is including Lynx/Axe deodorants as one of their fragrances. On a side note, here in Australia ''Axe'' is known as ''Lynx''. anyways, This has to be one of the best smelling Lynx's I have come across, Its got a really strong, sweet coconut smell and its just divine and girls would always compliment me when I wore this back in the day. Sadly now (2017) all of the axe/lynx have been reformulated. Yes they still smell the exact same but they have dramatically decreased the amount of ''perfume'' oils in these and the scents just do not last or project as they used to. That is why you no longer hear of people complaining about school locker rooms reeking of lynx/axe or smelling people with this over applied... Because it is simply impossible to over apply this now. But back then a few sprays to the neck and anyone would think you were wearing an Eau De Toilette or Eau De Parfum strength cologne. Although back to what I was first saying, apart from the performance, The scent is still the same and smells awesome.

Layer something like Demeter Salt Air over this and you get the complete suntan lotion at the beach effect. The combination also compensates for the fact that individually they are each very simple fragrances. p.s. Could someone correct the title to 'Axe Excite' ?

Axe scents, in general, are not that bad. The problem is the way most wearers (usually either young men or teenage schoolboys) use them. They overapply, and use Axe as a substitute for bathing. Excite does smell a bit like Joop Homme Wild, however I detect more caramel. I wonder if it would be a "deeper" fragrance in an EDT version rather than a body spray. To me it smells like a toffee candy bar, minus the chocolate. It is interesting when worn with Axe Dark Temptation, because that adds the missing chocolate. Sillage and longevity, when applied in a sensible manner, are good but not overpowering.

On its own, this is nothing to write home about. Hell it's axe. Its better than smelling like a Summer's day in Africa. However, I used to pair this with Nivea Silver aftershave and the result is pretty decent. The Nivea aftershave splash had a semi- sweet, gentle citric vibe to it. They danced together quite well. Even though I was a student, (in adulthood, older and matured) the addition of the aftershave didn't leave me smelling like a student. Make sense?
