Banana Republic M

This is not a bad scent at all, when you first spray it, it smells just like an orange peal, then a few minutes later the fig and plumb come in. But wait there is more then it softens into a mild soapy freshie. Then you get the sandalwood and cedar but that is about 20 to 30 minutes at least on me. So, this is a very non-linear fragrance. It last a decent amount of time but sillage is close to you. So this would be good for an office, church or any other place that has a lot of people and would not likely offend anyone. You might even get a complement during a close encounter.

Very nice, citrusy, semi sweet smell. Very close to Hilfiger Athletics, one of my favorite juices. To bad they discontinued Hilfiger Athletics, it was one of if not the best smelling from the Hilfiger line. (Go figure they would discontinue such a gem). Banana Republic M has filled that void for me. Pretty good longevity on my skin 6-8 hours. You can find this one for under $20 for the 3.4 oz. Over all I would give this an 8.5/10 score.

EDT and EDP are very similar. I prefer the dry down on the EDP, but the EDT is slightly fruitier. The opening is quite beautiful, with the fig accord smelling marvelous. If you need a "work safe" fragrance, this should do a smashing good job. The problem with this fragrance, as with most BR frags, is the performance can be hit or miss, depending on the version of the fragrance. I do like this better than a lot of newer releases.

Great scent for the hot days of the year, was better back in the 90s, reformulation has reduced a bit of its performance, but it still has a great scent profile that I enjoy very much wearing. Overspray, spray over clothes and enjoy. This review is about the bottle with yellow juice, not purple.

THE GOOD: Citrusy, bright and nice. Mass appealing THE BAD: I personally believe this is only good for summer, although I do believe all scents can be used year-round. BLIND BUY: yes RATING: 9/10

Making my way through my freshie Banana Republics for gym use and today is M. It's definitely fresh and airy citrus. I get a parsley vibe on the open too, which was probably the fig leaf. The plum note in the open is there, but is much quieter than Polysnifferous Plummy Japonais; this is the La Croix of plums. Mid notes are a not very strong though I do get the rosemary and if I really dig my nose in can smell sage. It's somewhat soapy, especially moving into a quiet slightly musky base. It's a clean citrus freshie that can easily be used for the gym and not interfere with SOTD later, especially if they have a citrus or soapy component. It's also $0.15/ml so if longevity and projection are desired it's nominal to overspray on clothes. It's not quite as good as BR Classic, which is also a gym frag for me.

FINALLY this fragrance has been added..I Just LOVE this scent..it's So Juicy and Fresh with the woods and herbs blended so beautifully.. But who are we kidding here this is Not a Complex scent,M is simply ALL About......The ORANGE!! If You can Imagine a Citrus cologne growing on a Tree this would be the one you'd end up picking right off The Branch!! Perfect for Spring and Summer, even nice on a Rainy Fall day,IMO this is very Unisex...mind you I'm writing this review on The Original 1996 formula I know it was discontinued for quite some years and only recently brought back, Hopefully B.R. didn't do too much tampering with this Beauty!

It is a nice scent, Fresh, Clean, Soapy and Crisp. This review is based on the new reformulation. I bought it blind-buy after reading the positive comments with reasonable price. It opens up with Soapy fresh citrusy and green notes in the background then dry down is musky woody. M by Banana Republic is first perfume from this house in my collection, This fragrance is EDP but Longevity is not Good. Overall, It is a suitable perfume for beginners with inexpensive price. Rating : 7 / 10

I he thisnbacknin the day when it was released. It was a time I was transitioning in life and was one of the first purchases I made in that come up! I don’t remember it but I do remember that I liked it and certainly wasn’t a bad choice as a beginner frag. Not recommended for the seasoned frag wearer but could be a pleasant through back. That’s what it does for me reminds me of the time when I first met my wife so has a special place in my ❤️ 😆

I bought this one because it should resemble Athletics by Tommy Hilfiger, an absolute favourite of mine. It does, and it also resembles “What about Adam by Joop”. Its a nice, inoffensive fresh cologne and office-safe. It lacks caractere and projection and longitivity are both terrible. That having said, its nice for casual daytime, and for a resonable price. If you like fresh, you can blindbuy this one.

When I first got it I wasn't really impressed, after it sitting on my shelf for over a year I gotta say it's developed quite nicely. I have the purple version by the way. I put it on this morning and my wife said wow you smell nice and fresh and that's exactly what you get. A nice citrus burst with a nice fresh scent backing it up. I'll be reaching for this more often now. I love Banana Republic

If you've ever squeezed a fresh, ripe orange and seen the fine mist of oil explode from the surface of its skin then likely you smelled that intoxicating essence of orange that is as provocative as the flavor itself. I always liked to rub it on the back of my hand to return to later for that hit of orange magic. That, and the aroma of Banana Republic M, the light yellow, are quite similar.

an interesting scent. The citrus opening is tempered by the plum and fig so, although it smells fresh, it doesn't come off like a citrusy "sport" scent. Although it dries down as a woodier scent, the citrus remains leaving it as a fresh soapy scent. Quite nice actually. it has good longevity and projection on my skin. Not a bad buy at all.

Ok.. So I get alot of the earthy notes in this one.. Just a hint of citrus.... I do like it but its quite unusual... A bit soapy in a way. Very different from anything else I have. It is quite subtle though. Nothing overpowering. Definitely warm weather and daytime scent. Im going to give this one a 7/10 overall.

I have the EDT version of this, the one with the blue juice. Its a clean citrus scent and I get a hint of salt in this too. I think this is a simple, all around scent for spring & summer time. It's nothing special but for the price? It's a gem for sure. 6/10

Nice, below average performance. At $15 on FragNet, it's as a dumb reach for warm days for younger crowds. But if you look for uniqueness, look elsewhere! Spring/Summer days, 15-25

This fragrance is literally perfect at the opening. Unfortunately I don’t think I could smell myself upon leaving the store after 3-5 “air-y” sprays. If it lasted I would buy

Scent: 7/10 Value: 4/10 Longevity: 2/10 Sillage: 3/10 Versatility: 5/10 Banana Republic is one of those scents that could have been great, but due to performance issues, it isn't. Man, the scent itself is really good. It starts with a refreshing citrus note with a little bit of wood. This is really fresh and is all spring and summer. The value takes a hit due to longevity. If sprayed on clothing you would be lucky to get 2 hours out of this. The sillage for this fragrance is not so good either. Expect to get 1-1.5 feet of sillage for the 1st-hour max. My wife really likes this one, but due to sillage issues, I will not be buying again. Overall this is a great scent with longevity and sillage issues. Even though I like the scent I have to give a recommendation to NOT buy. Other fragrances do this better. Hope this helps!

I am reviewing the EdP, not the EdT. This is a safe perfume, not sharp or polarizing at all. The opening is a nondescript "perfume" consisting of citrus and a hodgepodge of notes. After about 20-30 minutes, a pleasant soapy drydown comes through. The fresh and clean drydown is decent, and sits close to the skin. Get this scent at a discount. I'd sooner get a more pronounced version of this profile, myself. English Laundry "Signature" projects better, and is more soapy, without the disorganized opening.

Calming and unpretentious all the way through. The opening is one of the most relaxing scents I've ever smelled. It's a very pleasing sleepy citrus, drying down to cedar-y/soapy base. This stuff will not offend anyone, making it perfect for the office or all-around use. Longevity is good (5-6 hours on my skin), and projection is mild.

Generic cologne that smells strong at first but then fade to a more mellow scent. Relatively average.

This came out in 96 so I'm sure it's been reformulated a time or 2. I only have a decant and I agree with others that this is a complete joke. If u are thinking about blind buying it the n please don't.

The purple juice version of this is putrid and unwearable. Moldy fruit? Maybe I got a bad bottle.

One word.. tangerine. I have the blue juice with the black block letter M. The opening is very crisp, almost sharp tangerine to my nose. Almost like you're peeling one and you smell it up close. Not exactly something I'd want to wear. But for a room spray it'd be ok. I don't get anything else from the top notes, really just the citrus. It stays that way all the way to the dry down on me, very linear. I see a lot of potential if it balances out eventually. The box says fresh and woodsy.. fresh, yes. Fresh tangerine. I'm hoping after a few wearings some woods will show up. That's the first time I've ever said that since I'm a sweet/clean fragrance guy. As of right now (mid January 2019) there's nowhere I'd like to wear this. No age group, and no time of year. Longevity and projection isn't important, not because it's a bad scent.. but because it smells like one note to my nose. The drydown is still dominated by tangerine, but it's softer with a tiny, tiny bit of freshness from a green accord. I'd love to have the juice everyone else is talking about. I'll be back for an edit.

I love this. I bought it blind at Burlington on clearance for $7. I have had the W scent for women for years, and I like it, too. Although it's not one of my top favorites, I get frequent compliments on that one when I wear it. I think both the W and M scents lean a bit unisex, and cool/citrusy and have very similar notes. The M has a lot of citrus at first, but that fades to the background after about 30 minutes, and the it turns a bit aquatic and cool with the sage and cedar. After the citrus fades, it definitely smells masculine, fresh, and clean. I like both the opening and the dry down. I bought this for my husband who couldn't care less about fragrance (shame), but I think this might be one of my new favorite on him. It's very safe and has mass appeal. It might be an everyday/cheaper fragrance, but it really smells great-- well blended and pleasant from start to finish. The one I got is blue liquid, EDT, but it has good longevity for an EDT.

I've never smelled Artisan Pure before, but for some reason in my mind, I imagine it smells slightly similar to this. Or maybe its how I tell myself I don't need to buy Artisan Pure because I already have this. Herbal, citrus, woody, musky Wicker basket lined with white sheet? Slight mall clothing store vibe. It smells nice enough, and at the same time, I struggle to find any imagery or feelings to it. And that's kind of mind boggling. It's certainly not nothing, it has a scent, you can pick out the notes; it smells like Banana Republic M. It's just... there, and that's it. I have the bottle pictured in the description with the silver cap. It says EDP on the tag, but longevity is more like an average EDT.

The EDP is now available in the stores I visited. The EDT was horrible, but the EDP is not bad. I'd says average, but better than most cheapies. Sorry, I didn't check the price, as I wasn't blown away. I'd say it's a big improvement over their past offerings, and will probably be added to a lot of top 10 lists. There are 4 new classic versions, and the green one was good. It hasn't been added by Fragrantica yet. Still not blown away, but their newer EDP fragrances are a HUGE improvement. If they're cheap, it won't be a bad thing. The only positive I could see is adding them to a top 10 cheapie list.

I loved Hilfiger Athletic and although I am a collector with far too many fragrances (Designer and niche) Hilfiger Athletic was my favourite and I can't fathom why it was discontinued. I stumbled upon BR M by chance and it was loge at first sniff before the crushing disappointment set in. Sadly, as others have pointed out this is gone in minutes irrespective of how much I spray. If someone would make a concentrated version of this it would sell huge amounts its that good. The perfect Spring / Summer fragrance!

This is an absolutely beautiful fragrance and although I own many (as a collector) this would have been in my top 20 easily but although it smells amazing the lifestyle, at least one me, if awful. After numerous sprays, it could not be detected 20 minutes later. If this had staying power it would be a signature scent.

Citrus and then morphs into a soapy scent. This fragrance is for the beginners and can be worn anytime, but preferably during hot days. It’s perfect as a fresh out the shower bedtime fragrance or running errands dumb reach. It’s not a must have by any means, but it’s perfect for the above mentioned.

This has been relaunched in Eau De Parfum strength along with the new iconic series from BR. And it smells epic. Love this scent. Nineties genius at its finest. Candied citrus heaven. If you want to rediscover this scent try it in the new Eau de parfum strength. For a mall scent this is a winner

This is a simple citrus on a woody-musk base, a refreshingly direct valencia orange zest accord that sings brightly for a couple of hours before fading into a tempered department store amber. Very nice, if a bit dull. For the bad boy version, check out Juicy Couture's Dirty English.

A very refreshing bright, uplifting citrus fragrance that lasts less than an hour. It is nothing special, just to refresh you after a shower for 30 minutes. However, it has nice scent and is very uplifting. 6/10

From what I can recall, a very nice one. All I can remember are the citric notes morphing into woods.
