Nocturnal Rose

I am not a huge BBW lover but I do miss an oldie but goodie: Butterfly Flower. I am sort of a basic lover of white florals but I also love rose scents and how they are probably the most dynamic of the florals ever used. This is a great example. Rose. Patchouli. Dry. Spicy. If anyone had said those things to me I would have said, nah, not for me. But following in line with Le Labo Thé Noir which to me is dry, pungent, peppery, hay, which is my top 3 favourite frags ever, I just about fell over when I smelled this in store. They had released a rose line. As a Delina lover, they had nailed it previously with Covered in Roses so I was sure to get in there to smell the others. Heirloom rose was a bore. Vanilla rose, predictably BBW and not my cup kf tea. But Nocturnal Rose, in the men's section? Oh no. Just no. This was poorly chosen out. This was clearly a unisex leaning female scent. Where was the body mist and thr 3 wick candle? The pocketbac? There was nothing of those. I grabbed up some wallflowers, body cream and shower gel and then later saw they had put on the cologne for 12.99!!!!! I immediately purchased 3!! What a steal for us Canadians who rarely snag such deals. This fragrance is perfection. I only wished it had better sillage. Bring out a 3 wick candle please!! I am not into vampires or anything like this but it just evokes this cozy warm earthy pungent smell and I agree with a previous poster, has that "walking into a store that sells crystals vibe". Dare I say whiff of patchouli incense?

I went in to B&BW to check out the new Vera Bradley peach something or other fragrance (don’t bother), and somehow walked out with this? From the MEN’s section? It is very unisex, in my opinion. It’s weighty without being cloying. It’s beautiful without being feminine. It’s powerful without being masculine. It’s unlike anything else B&BW has put out. It’s giving gothic vampires by candlelight, and I’m here for it. I also got the body creme and body wash which will go really nicely with my Guerlain’s Nahema, which is my all time favorite gorgeous rose fragrance. I think the wash and creme will also go well with my Etat Libre d’Orange’s Dune, another moody rose scent. This is probably not a safe blind buy; but since there’s literally a B&BW in every single mall these days, popping in to sample it first won’t be a problem for most people. For a cologne, it has decent longevity; it lasted four hours on my skin. It has really lovely sillage, and projects nicely for quite awhile. I only wish it was also available as a body mist to put in my hair. I’m pleasantly shocked at how happy I am with my purchase. I’ll probably go and pick up more body wash and body creme in anticipation of them discontinuing this fragrance. B&BW always gets rid of their best scent: I’m looking at YOU, Calypso Clementine.

In my experience, rose is not one of my favorite notes to go for in a fragrance. But the first time I tried this one—WOW—I was really impressed by what I smelled. The first thing I did was look up the notes: rose, black pepper, and cedarwood. It creates a really dark, mysterious, yet sexy and sensual scent. What surprised me the most is that it comes from the men’s collection, but it actually makes sense. It doesn’t smell like a typical “feminine” rose—sweet and fresh. NO. This is more mature, more intense. As it dries down, it shifts into something that feels like being in the woods, but in a fresh, almost vampire-like way. On my skin, it lasts around 5–6 hours, which is really good for a fragrance that costs about $30. Lastly, in my opinion, this is a fragrance with a very attractive concept—“Nocturnal Rose.” And honestly, it smells exactly like the name suggests: night, woods, something sexy and mature. I’d say give it a try, even if you don’t usually like—or haven’t really experienced—this type of scent profile. This cologne might just surprise you.

One of the few B&BW Men's fragrances to allow itself to be softer. To The Moon, Freshwater, and Deep Ocean all have a sweetness to them, but that's not necessarily uncommon in B&BW's scent profile; sweet is what we lean into most of the time. Nocturnal Rose is soft. It isn't sweet, just light and inviting with an extremely fresh, floral-forward beginning. Give it an hour, and you'll notice it's dried down into a very elegant woodsy musk that still has that powdery rose petal layer. By the time it's run its course, it still leaves behind the faintest clean smell where it was applied, almost cold in the nose. I'm placing this as my #1 B&BW Men's Fragrance of all time. Had they made Gingham Unstoppable more of a signature, as they should have, it might have some competition, because that one was lovely, but they didn't! This scent reminds me of a muskier version of Delilah and Zimaya Fatima which are both my favorite rose scents. I layer them with Bath and Body Works Covered In Roses. This is Covered in Roses without the sugar and red berries. It's more serious. It has more depth. I love it, but the longevity is lacking as with all the new Bath and Body Works fragrances. It may be due to the formulation. It is great for layering. And is more of a skin scent, when sprayed on well moisturized skin as it doesn't project or hold even when sprayed in the hair or on clothing. This unisex Rose scent is great for all seasons, day or night and any weather. I should have gotten more bottles as it is now discontinued.

Coming from Bath & Body Works this scent is so elevated. Smells more expensive than what it retails for. It’s giving niche vibes, like something Initio would put out. Also not such a fan of rose scents, currently only have Kilian Princess Rose De Mai and YSL L’Homme Ultime, but this is such a sexy, woodsy rose. It’s fresh and dark at the same time, mysterious yet playful. Very modern smelling scent. Rose is front and center supported by the black pepper and cedarwood in the background. It’s marketed towards men but this is completely unisex. I get about 8 hours longevity and the scent trail is amazing. They hit it out of the park with this one. Great job Bath & Body Works.

such a pleasant surprise. the opening is mostly pepper to me, then it dries down into the rose and after a few hours i can smell cedarwood and powder lingering on my skin. its sharp and straight to the point but so intoxicating and sexy, dare i say its more feminine leaning than anything? i live in a hot country and it isn't headache inducing to wear in this weather. they definitely need to change the body spray bottle though. edit: layered this with dark kiss in store and it smelt heavenly

what a beautiful smell! I initially tried it inside the store and it became an instant favorite. It smells similar to one of those witch/crystal alternative stores, honestly. It's very pleasant. It has a very weak sillage, however, but it does not affect my parents who have been sensitive to previous perfume I own! They can still smell it fine up close. It is very unisex and gothic. I got this perfume when it was on sale!!

I use the BBW plug-ins to add fragrance to my office. I randomly grabbed nocturnal rose and kept thinking to myself, dear god if this becomes a fragrance beyond and EDT, it’s an insta-buy. And it’s happened! Doesn’t last all day but idgaf. It’s remarkable. Got a feeling my wife will steal it despite enjoying Rose de Vents in her collection. I bought for $35 on sale. Wild value.

This should have been in the lineup for the men’s Halloween scent This smells goth. What I would imagine a vampire to smell like. The rose note smells dry, not fresh. The black pepper adds a bit of masculinity, and the cedar wood some depth. Imagine toy boy by Moschino but less harsh and punchy. Beautifully done masculine rose scent. i absolutely adore this fragrance. upon application, the scent takes upon a slightly wine-ish quality, but dries down very floral. it’s almost vampiric in nature, though still bright enough to be for any occasion. i was hesitant about my purchase initially, but once i got to using it, i never want to stop.

This immediately reminded me of Noir 29 from Le Labo. It’s not nearly as strong and isn’t exact, but the body wash and lotion layer very well with it. It’s in the men’s collection, but think it’s very unisex and I enjoyed it more than the women’s rose release.

Of course this would go discontinued and sold out right as I find it on sale. At $70 CAD I couldn’t justify the buy but $17 CAD I wanted to pick it up based on the body wash scent. Really nice manly , watery rose with strong pepper.

Just bought this during the sale. For a "cologne" this lasts well enough as an EDT. Performs well on skin and hair. Does not make a long trail, but you get whiffs of it as you wear it. May last a good 4 hours. It does open spicy with black pepper but it's less sharp; more like white pepper to me. Rose comes quickly, it's fresh, more watery than oily, but not heavy. Then it's enveloped by amber-y notes and, I swear, it rooibos tea! Yes, once it settles down, it's rose and rooibos to me. It's very pleasant and unisex. Light enough to wear in summer. Comparison to Toy Boy: I have a sample of it, and I don't they're that similar. Totally different vibe and notes. The only similarity is they're rose forward. Toy Boy is more heady, more intense, more oily rose, and longer lasting, sharper back pepper. It's more playful and energetic than dark (like nocturnal rose). I think it compares more to TF Rose Prick. It has the same sultry, sexy vibe. With the notes' composition smelling closer. If you liked one you'll definitely like the other.

This is a dupe of Signature Halfeti Black Rose. It's right there in the name. Black Rose / Nocturnal Rose. This comes right after producing a bunch of great dupes for the women's department in the Luxury Collection in 2025. Covered in Roses = Delina La Rosee, Free as a Flower = Libre Flowers and Flames, Midnight Addiction = Black Opium, Inner Angel = Angel's Share, etc., the coy names for their dupes is pretty well established. And like those, it's pretty good for the price.

Pretty solid for a layering fragrance, but kinda flat on its own. Great to make home blends too, but I think it would benefit from more depth. The rose is pleasant, black pepper is a nice opener, but there's not enough cedarwood. Layer it with something resinous or earthy and it's an asset, but wear it alone and it's just fine. Feels kinda like a less complex Perles de Lalique.

I’m obsessed with Contes Du Levant by L’Artisan Parfumer but can’t afford to buy a full bottle and this is really similar. I can’t believe I stumbled onto it at BBW! I’m a woman and I think this is pretty dang unisex. A lovely rosy vaguely spicy cedary scent, maybe a hint of incense? I’m annoyed that the body spray is in an axe style sprayer, it makes me feel confused and manlier than I would like to feel (like what is this, deodorant??) but the scent is so good I can put up with it. I feel like a very mysterious and classy woman in this. I listen to classical music and hang out in a cathedral. I agree with the people saying vampire vibes for this one, but I’m glad they didn’t brand it as such because then more people would buy it and I wouldn’t feel as special hahaha.

I love rose but find it a difficult scent to pull off with my body chemistry, and typically have to blend it with something else, patchouli or amber or some such to keep it from leaning into the headache-inducing soapiness. That said, this one does the trick. It is a soft rose, expertly lifted with black pepper and blended with grounding cedar. Although the notes are not the same, it tangentially reminds me of Tom Ford's Noir de Noir, or even the defunct Nirvana Rose. I do not find this overtly masculine, even though it is marketed a as a men's fragrance. I like it a lot.

I just picked this up during the recent sale for $16! An absolute steal. The dry down is very fresh and unisex. Once the rose fades, it reminds me of Fine’ry Mystic Figures. My husband’s nose is difficult to please, and he’s already said he wants to wear this, so I guess it’s “ours”!

Very soft rose, almost powdery. Pepper definitely comes through after a second. Lasted throughout my entire day with minimal sillage, which is nice because I don't like to overpower people with what I'm wearing.

Similar to the black rose oud body spray by salt and stone. Also le labo the noir. Bought immediately.
