Caffè Amaro

Wow, this stuff is nice. This was a blind buy for me; the notes intrigued me and I was really impressed with their Neroli Pomodoro release. This somehow smells exactly how I expected but also surprised me with how they delivered the notes. It’s fresher and more traditional than you might expect from the note breakdown. Upon spraying, you get a really great and photorealistic orange note, like the smell of an orange peel expressed over a cocktail. Then comes the hazelnut, espresso, and patchouli notes, all of which are light and fresh rather than syrupy or loud. There are some aromatic notes in the background that remind me of angostura bitters, which I assume is where the Amaro in the name comes from. The structure of the scent is done very well. This has gourmand notes but I wouldn’t call it a gourmand. It feels like it could be worn year round except for hot summer days. It’s surprisingly clean and safe to wear while being very interesting. The brand nailed this release.
