Y06-S

This is my discovery of the year! Truly stunning. From the start I am hit with fruity esters, that resemble more of a pear than banana, and shortly after, the "electronics accord" come into play - it is based on sclarene, which is famous for its hot iron vapor smell, alongside cashmeran and habanolide (probably), which also add to the warmth of the accord. And with this accord the fruity molecules start to smell like banana - but not the artificial candy banana like, for example, in horrible THOO L'Explicite, but the bitter and astringent banana peel! The banana note is very cleverly done, the best I've smelled to date. Additionally, the jasmine tea accord with minty undertones is playing in the background, freshening whole experience. This is a niche version of Hermes H24 (with hot iron smell amped to 11 and addition of banana), which should be enough of a recommendation in itself. And the fact that it predates H24 is just mindblowing.

When I first read the notes, and saw "Electronics" I was curious...I wasn't sure what to expect, and I'm not sure how to explain this, but it does smell like electronics. I remember being a kid in the 80s and sitting too close to the tv...and it had a burning smell, lol...which is kind of what this smells like, but in a DELICIOUS way. I love this, and get tons of compliments whenever I wear it.

I’ve really come around to this one. My boyfriend gave me a bottle a few years ago and I really could not understand what compelled him to get it. All I could get was a kind of dark spike piercing a cloud of bananas. More recently I’ve come to appreciate ylang ylang (which plays no small part in y06-s’s banana accord) in a new way, and it’s helped me to find a corresponding new appreciation for this bottle languishing on my shelf. Y06-s opens with a strong ylang ylang burst. Yes, it’s banana-like facets are amped up, but it also has a slight powderiness and gives a distinct humid impression, like you just opened the door to a greenhouse full of blooming tropical plants. The milk notes emphasize the gourmand quality of ylang-ylang. Indeed, there is a family resemblance to the steaming banana pudding of January Scent Project’s Horla. But Y06-S is much more approachable, considering you aren’t averse to a tropical woody floral. It also leans more masculine than Horla (although both are weird enough that I doubt you or anyone around you will bring any strongly gendered associations to this fragrance). Amidst this hazy, ripe, fruity-floral cloud, a certain zing begins to make itself known. I agree with other reviewers that somehow the “smell” of static electricity has been captured here, and soon this olfactory point blooms into a robust overheated electronics accord. It really is convincing! And oddly appealing. After the first few minutes, these illusionistic impressions morph into something more perfume-like: slightly creamy, humid florals floating above a dry, woody base. There is a hint of sharp spice (cumin?), as well, but incredibly Y06–S does not veer into gourmand territory, remaining an interesting interplay of distinct floral and woody halves. I really do like it. There is an atmospheric quality to it, like being in a greenhouse warmed by the sun where both the plants and the tools and tables made of a variety of plastics and woods emit their perfumes. And as the classic perfume components take off their avant-garde masks, you may even find yourself transported to teatime with your maiden aunt in her solarium. A delightful bait and switch.

Artistic, modern and innovative. Do you like bananas? because this is a banana bomb! Y06-S is completely different and unique scent with artistic take on perfumery. Kind of a "hipster" scent, in the most positive way. With that said, it is not for everyone. The scent opens up with heavy dose of bright florals and banana, also this dry and slightly sharp electronics note of circuit boards, electronic chips giving this almost metallic nuance, but it smoothens pretty quick with more prominent jasmine and creamy milk note, oud is also there in the dry-down, but it always stays in the background, while the banana and jasmine shines throughout and are the main dominant notes of the fragrance. The scent is awesome and modern, I like it most for the warmer weather, I feel like it is perfect for the beach and sunny outdoor activities, just light on the trigger. Sipping on a banana smoothie while your friend loaded another game of air hockey, you felt perfectly at ease among the glowing lights and the laughter of kids in the background. The air buzzed with joy, though a quiet sense of finality lingered just beneath the surface. That night would be the last time you walked through those doors; soon, the arcade would vanish, replaced by a movie theater.
