The initial bergamot zest fades quickly; it leaves in its wake a clean, inoffensively fresh scent for a few hours. Around the hour mark or so, it fades on me to a sort of freshly bathed scent. By "freshly bathed," I mean something more akin to the feeling of stepping into a bathroom equipped with waffle-knit towels than anything overtly aquatic, fruity, or sweet. It dries down to give me the impression of garden-themed hotel toiletries; the iris is a little soapy, and the various green and floral notes are maybe a little run-of-the-mill but nicely balanced. If you're looking for a really potent or polarizing fragrance, Back Bay probably is not the one for you. For the money, it might make a nice, safe gift as well -- the brand is a little unusual, but the scent is hardly inflammatory.

I pick up green and blue notes in the opening; it’s a natural aquatic but the dry down is all about the earth and floral notes. Oddly, it’s also very creamy. Very pretty and easy to wear. I fully enjoyed the past five hours.
