King of the World

I’ve always been a fan of Dune by Christian Dior, which I wore in the mid-90s. This fragrance is its reincarnation, but with much more qualitative and noble ingredients. Surprisingly not as ostentatious as its name suggests, the earthy tones mixed with ripened fruits ensure the sense of majesty is far from over bearing yet still deserving of respect. It’s assertive without being dominant, with just enough punch to make you feel like the king of your own castle.🏰 This one will be fantastic to wear on next Spring and Summer.☀️🌞🌻 8,5/10 in my book.🤓📝📓

To be fair, this is a really nice perfume. Blackcurrant, fig leaves, basil, tomato leaves, moss are all very well blended into a beautiful symphony of vegetables - probably the best vegetable themed fragrance I ever tried, and way better than let's say MiN's Chef's Table. There's no trace of syntheticness often found in generic, so-called green scents. But at £580? The price is so outrageous it suggests that the scent has to be something out of the ordinary, or at least containing some major rare ingredients. But this scent, while very very well done, really isn't worth the asking price. There's nothing rare or opulent or exquisite about it. To be clear, I'm a fan of this house and appreciate many of their expensive scents, but this one is really wrongly priced, and perhaps even wrongly named. If it were up to me, I'd name it something more like "King's vegetable garden."

I cant believe I am saying this about a fragrance made by the best house in the entire world, but I would rather wear Sauvage than this. Of all the olfactory subgroups, the one I detest is "greens," and this is VERY green. Fig leaf, basil, WAY too much vetiver. Zero sweetness, minimal brightness... Its not the absolute worst fragrance BtV had made, but its definitely in the bottom 10.

I thought from the name that this would be an extremely powerful leathery scent. I tried this and I like it. A friend said the waft was similar to Lotus flower with sandalwood !! It's very green in the beginning like sliced veg salad and florals blended superbly. Vetiver and woodsy notes follow atonce. The new price is £ 675. Would I buy a bottle? Not at this price but I would wait for a great deal on eBay from a reputed seller or go for a 10 ml travel spray or a 10 ml split from a fragrance splits group. Initial blast is like you are wearing a vetiver, freshly cut green cucumber, sandalwood and faint musk scent. The basenotes are super exquisite. Try it
