Noir Aphrodisiaque

I love this Kilian fragrance because it has a heavenly scent that lasts far longer than many of the House’s other offerings. It is simply beautiful in part because it is beautifully simple. There are only 5 notes listed, but they are high quality and blended in a way that works from the opening spray and transforms subtly over the hours it lasts. It is far more than a skin scent, but not a beast, although I would not wear it in summer. If I compare it to a couple wonderful dark chocolate scents such as Amber Chocolate Abdes Salaam Attars Perfumes, it is lighter as the amber in the latter is a dominant and long-lasting note. AC is more wintery to me and more suited for evening, but the blending is nicely done. If you want another great dark chocolate, then I would recommend Pasion Choco by Nishane. It contains many more notes, yet it is a much lighter scent in terms of its overall effect. It is, as someone has already written "sweet, sour and spicy". And yet it is the one that fades the fastest of the three. This for me is a warm weather choice. Is NA the best? Each are high quality fragrances, but I do find the potential sex appeal in Kilian more present than the others. Overall an 8.5. Each time I put it on I tend to like it even more, so this may trend higher when the weather changes and I pull it out more often.

I was fortunate enough to score a bottle here in the US. It was very hard to find but I got it! Boy was I not disappointed. This is hands down the best chocolate scent I’ve ever smelled. It opens citrusy with orange and immediately you get a warm melted chocolate. Reminiscent of those orange chocolate you gotta smack on the table to break. After it starts to dry down...it just gets even better. The closest I can describe it is Abuelita, the Mexican hot chocolate. Spicy, dense, rich, but powdery. Like before you melt the chocolate in the milk. It’s a fragrance that 1000% lives up to its name. If I were to smell this on someone else, It would draw me in.

Wow. Excellent scent and beautifully blended. The chocolate is not harsh and the cinnamon perfectly complement the bergamot. It has a certain sensual aspect to it that makes you want to smell it over and over again. It may not have a lot of listed notes, but the few that it has works in great harmony to create one of the best scents I've smelled in a while. But then again, for the price point of this one I'd expect it to knock it out of the park. Save this for your special occasions only!

I have been trying to find a "chocolate" scent to replace my La Perla Dark Ectasy, a huge chocolate bomb that is long gone (sniff, tear :( This is not it, but it is a lovely smell anyway. Starts out on me with a nice citrus-chcocolate, a bitter whiff that settles into a softer bergamot- cinnamon-chocolate that is comfy but not strong. After a couple hours, I can barely smell it, which makes me sad. I really would consider a bottle if it didn't have a mediocre longevity and high $$$$.

What a beauty - I reach for this in cold weather a lot. On my skin it starts out with a blast of very dark smoky chocolate and morphs into a sweeter, slightly aromatic scent. On other days I get more spiciness. This one is long lasting and is a high quality perfume. Its really fun to wear because it takes me on a scent journey. I love this one and I think it has been overlooked by the frag community. ***If you cant find this try DUA's version- man, its great!

Notes from the Kilian website: Top: bergamot, cinnamon Heart: cocoa absolute, jasmine, cypriol Base: amber, patchouli, sandalwood, tonka, tolu balm There is also a noticeable musk component as well. Best chocolate note I have found, and I have tried many. Very rich and beautiful fragrance. Projection is modest, but longevity is good for a gourmand.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of this tootsie pop? To me, this smells exactly like an orange flavored tootsie lollipop when you get to the center and have the combination of tootsie roll and orange candy shell. Then add in a slight touch of floral notes, powder, alcohol, and dried cocoa. Interesting...

This doesn’t remind me of anything I know but it does have a familiar chocolate note that’s really sexy. This blows my mind so I wear it specifically for me, because I think it’s incredibly sexy. Increasingly growing infatuated with this perfumer lol.

This is lovely. Reminds me of Black Phantom! So spicy and beautiful. I love the combo of chocolates and cinnamon. The iris softens is out and makes it more feminine. This is absolutely unisex too. I still prefer black phantom though!

According to the Kilian website this contains a lot more notes than those listed here. I went to look because I smelled more creaminess, warmth, wood and a bit of a peppery earthy smell that didn't make sense based on the notes here. This HAD to contain sandalwood. Below an excerpt of the website. This also contains Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cedrat, Tolu Balm, Jasmine, Cypriol. In fact, they list it as a Jasmine, Cedrat, Chocolate scent. This scent starts off rather spicy, warm and the citrus provides a contrast that's a little jarring, but interesting. When it fades the dark chocolate and cinnamon provides a warmth that's delicious. I am wearing it with 'Black Phantom' on my other wrist and like all By Kilian scents they make me wrinkle my nose at the first time I wore them a few days ago, but are compelling me to try them again and when I do they get more and more heavenly. Just so many facets to these scents, one test is not enough. Anyway, Black Phantom remains sweeter, but Noir Aphrodisiac turns into a delicious woody scent. Honestly, I'm going to stop describing. Just try it. The By Kilian website says (marketing notwithstanding): Italian bergamot sprinkled with warm cinnamon drives the opening, melting into the heart, cocoa absolute, jasmine and cypriol dispel inhibition. In a state of total surrender, a warm ambery syrup of Indonesian patchouli, Australian sandalwood, tonka bean and tolu balm spills over with rapturous indulgence.

Despite the lack of notes, not a linear fragrance at all. When this starts off it has a sort of citrusy desert quality, maybe a paste of something, but not really a frosting. Its hard to put my finger on, but its also quite feminine smelling to start off with. Once this initial blasts leaves us we get a very sorta tangy, sour, chocolate smell. Although we obviously can see the citrus I wouldnt call this a cordial or anything. But perhaps its in the same idea or family of treats if you will. The chocolate gets stronger and its almost like peeling back a very tangy sour sorta yuzu(or I guess going by the notes citron)and when we open this up we have this hot steamy rich chocolate milk or drink inside. And eventually mostly all aspects of the citrus basically leave us in the dry down, and you get sorta a well tangy hot chocolate. In this skin scent faze I could see this as a flanker to something like intoxicated. Its a little strange to start off with, and its never really quite juicy enough, or quite sour and tangy enough to immediately call anything to mind concretely, so I feel iffy about it especially considering the sorta feminine vibe it as as it first. But as it dries down it gets better and better and id say smells pretty darn good. Performance was decent.

It’s always hard to tell if a fragrance is good when sampling from a dabber vial, so I would need to try this again from a spray. Noir Aphrodisiaque is not bad, I’m getting a fresh chocolate accord? Maybe that’s something synthetic but I also smell citrus. The middle is creamier, less sharp. I still smell the synthetic clean note. Based off some reviews below, it sounds like Noir Aphrodisiaque may have been reformulated. I don’t know anything about that, but this is an easy to wear gourmand. Price is always subjective, but my feeling is that there are better perfumes that cost less, giving you a much better bang for you buck. For chocolate gourmands I’m thinking 4160 out of UK is a good place to look.

One thing I love about By Kilian is that they had a 5 scent sample pouch online for us to choose to 5 different fragrances and try them. I ended up choosing: Single Malt, Apple Brandy, Noir Aphrodisiaque, Lemon in Zest and Good Girl gone bad (for my girlfriend). I had tried Single Malt and Apple Brandy before, so Lemon in Zest and N.A. was new to me. The first sniff I got from this one is the cocoa powder. Oh it is there allright. And after it becomes a powdery fragrance where I do detect some hints of cinnamon and that dark chocolate smell. I do like it, and for a unisez fragrance, I can imagine me using this. Now I can't wait for Black Phantom to come out.

Smells nothing like Black Phantom. To me this smells like stale chocolate that's been frozen or sitting in the cabinet for many months. Combined with citrusy/irisy notes. There's this certain note in here which smells exactly like milk chocolate and they nailed that perfectly. Not really gourmand but I do like this one and you can tell it's very very high quality.

Like the shadows darkening as a seductive vampire draws near, but the shadows are made of chocolate. Dark, alluring, musky. Loses some darkness as it dries down, but stays a delicious chocolate scent.

Good quality cocoa but I really don't get any cinnamon. I was expecting Mexican chocolate.

Oudy Chocolatey it's a dusty, dry chocolate smell. I'm sorry but no. I'm probably spoiled when it comes to chocolate /cacao perfumes Russian Oud by Areej Le Dore and Swiss Arabian Resala. Russian Oud is warm, balsamic, heady and feels ancient and the cacao acts like a tuner between the oud and musk/animalic. Like sunlight makes old varnished wood smell being the tuner between the varnish and the wood. Resala is so damned sexy. Here the rose is the juices flowing between the respective Oud and Chocolate bodies and it's a honeymoon, not a quickie in the car park. Both Russian Oud and Resala have good longevity and presence. Unfortunately all I get from NA is a bag of pick and mix. There are weird lemon-ish sweets that feel rubbery, and orange sugar coated chocolate buttons where the orange is very synthetic and the chocolate tastes watery, and some random cachous that have a vague, powdery feel and dissolve on your tongue. Your body is telling you after just a few minutes of mindlessly munching that what you are eating is NOT food and NOT good. You know that if you stop now and drink a litre of water you can probably manage to flush it through your system before you go full sugar rush, then crash. That is what NA feels like to me. And it's about as aphrodisiac as the unwanted, lecherous attention of the local lush. Not even a skin full of whiskey would make me want to go there. Damn, I can smell her lipstick and the cheap chocolate musk she's been wearing along with her dress for the last week. Eww, horrible.

I've tried samples of this from the by Kilian boutique in NYC. Very nice to wear in the cooler months at night. I must admit I seem to get an Oud vibe with this that accompanies the Chocolate. Not a lot of development in this fragrance on my skin. I get pretty good longevity and projection is just right. I haven't really received any compliments while wearing it but I personally like it. The scent starts with a blast of Chocolate and Bergamote. Bergamote fades then I am left with an Oudy Chocolatey vibe through the rest of the fragrances life. No iris or cinnamon that I can really detect. More sampling is a must but I could see myself picking up a bottle in the future. 7.5/10

Starting out, I get warm cocoa, bergamot, sligtly geeen notes but briefly, and fresh dirt. The dirt and greenness of it goes away pretty quickly. The iris seems to weave in and out throughout, as does the cocoa. Once the citron comes on, it stays the rest of the time, and it is nice but light. To me it never smells like dark chocolate but a light cocoa. It leans a little masculine but not so much that I don’t want to wear it. I would go for a decant of this but not a full bottle.

A nice chocolatey fragrance; slightly woodsy, a bit fruity, but more so a nice linear, soft powdery chocolatey fragrance. A little dark, but not stoic; sweet, but not syrupy sweet; very nice! Masculine, but maybe unisex. I have a 10ml sample; not sure if it is full bottle worthy, as nothing stood out to give me that wow factor-nothing to call home about. Longevity: 6/10 Performance: 7/10 Projection: 7.5/10 Overall: 7/10 Nice!

I'm a tad unimpressed with most of what I've tried from Killian so far, especially for the price point, but I must commend them for creating gourmands without all the extra artificial sugar notes that are so popular nowadays (Love Don't Be Shy is excluded from this praise, lol). This reminds me a bit of Mexican hot chocolate. The iris grounds this fragrance nicely, and keeps this from being cloying and overtly feminine.

• Happy for those who love it, and whose skin chemistry allows to enjoy this fragrance, cause this dark chocolate with much citrus and iris plays bad joke to my sharp nose and remainds the "little plastic houses" in big music festivals...omg, this tablet smell...nooo🤭😳🤧 • Sory, but definetely not that chocolate and cinnamon I was hoping to find...😆🤣 I'd say try twice before buy.

i am wearing a dupe spray from generic perfumes-and i adore it! the chocolate is dark and beautiful...not overbearing or brash. cinnamon complements it beautifully, and the iris is so light and airy. so far i am a hour into it, and it is wonderful. i will update how long it lasts later.....

it's a dusty, dry chocolate smell. sorta like that 80+% guatemalan chocolate, not the dairy milk chocolate we all know and love. there's some floral sweetness in the background also. not too bad, but my first impression is that it ain't all that memorable. need to try this one again...

This is gorgeous but like everything else it has been butchered to hell. Longevity is so bad 👎 it really is a damn shame because this smells incredible. Guess I'll have to look for an older bottle. Kilian is robbing you people blind and you are still supporting them....

Black Phantom with a sweet mix of Orange mix runs on Cinnamon background, is a romantic sunset by the sea in a white dinner party with candles and flowers, not bothering diners around. The incense party is over, we begin another story.

Not as dark or chocolaty as I had hoped; if that's what you're looking for try some of the U.S. indie houses... This one smells like a somewhat typical orangy chocolate that's been done before.

Excellent it has the "warm hot dark chocolate steam" like smell, the scent is so dynamic you can feel it rising and stirring up the air.
