The next time someone tries to tell you that carnation is a little old lady scent, spray them with this. This is carnation at its sharpest. Bright, brilliant even, rich and long lasting. I have the edp that came in a lay-down spray bottle. I probably bought it around 2002 or so for maybe $80.00. I don't know if the boutique stores still sell it that way. Caron should have made more of this and gee, maybe even advertised it in Vogue. If they had, they'd actually be a perfumer known to people under 50. Coup de Fouet's name certainly is edgy enough to compete with Tom Ford (I bet he wishes he'd thought of it first), and the scent does too.

Thank you so much for adding this beautiful perfume. I treasure my bottle as it's now so hard to find. This is the little sister to Poivre. Coup de fouet means crack of the whip I believe and boy does this enliven the spirit. Hot, peppery, classic Caron and heady with a carnation note. I love this perfume so much I could bath in it - forever.

No, this is like a slightly more floral and less peppery version of Poivre. It is, IMHO, divine.

Crack of the whip, yes indeed. Spicy carnation and clove, hot and peppery, on a mossy powdery base. It doesn't pull any punches, it's well named. It dries down to a pretty, lower-key carnation. That initial hit is heavenly, a carnation hologram. Reasonably old fashioned but a good experience for this carnation fan :)

Is this in any way, similar to Parfum Sacre? It sounds wonderful!
