Coach Poppy Flower

I discovered Poppy Flower on a shelf at Target, shortly after it was launched. Among the usual drugstore-type fragrances on offer, this Target had some testers for higher-end scents that had just come out (this was some years before Target realized the gold mine to be had in beauty products, and beefed up their inventories in the cosmetics and fragrance departments.) I thought the bottle looked cute, so I gave the tester a spritz. Coach Poppy Flower immediately reminded me of my beloved long-discontinued Victoria’s Secret Pink (2001) which I wore in the early 2000’s. Poppy Flower had a strong apple note, which I didn’t remember in Pink, but Poppy Flower did have Pink’s soft citrus fruity-floral sweetness. The two scents have a prominent peony note in common as well. Poppy Flower is not a straight up dupe of 2001 Pink, but it gives off the same fragrance “feeling,” and is the closest scent I’ve found to old original Pink. I put Poppy Flower in my cart along with the kitty litter, fabric softener, etc. I enjoyed wearing Poppy Flower. It was soft and fruity sweet, and had a nice freshness. I worked in customer service, and knew that it would be a “safe” fragrance to wear around a variety of people. Poppy Flower has also been discontinued, but you can find bottles of it for a reasonable price- unlike Pink, which goes for big bucks these days. Recently I picked up a small bottle of Poppy Flower on Ebay. I was disappointed at first spray, and thought I had purchased a fragrance too past its sell-by date. Poppy Flower was never a powerhouse, but this stuff seemed extremely weak. I also remembered it as being sweeter, and fruitier. But after about an hour, and a re-application, I realized the fragrance was fine. It just needed time to develop, and then it was smelling like its old sweet, juicy, vibrant peony self. It lasted a lot longer than I was anticipating, as well, which was nice. Poppy Flower has a lot more notes than Pink, but it doesn’t smell complex. My nose is decidedly an amateur one, and I can’t pick out the individual notes of lychee, or the raspberry, or the apricot or black currant. There’s just a nice fruity “cloud” with a citrus/berry nature that envelops you. Poppy Flower isn’t a big statement fragrance, or a “wow- I’ve never smelled anything like this!” type of scent. But it’s easy to enjoy. I had forgotten how much I liked wearing it. We have been experiencing non-stop 90+ degree weather, and Poppy Flower has proved to be very refreshing during the oppressive heat. A lot of sweeter fragrances are just too much in hot weather. But Poppy Flower’s citrus and freshly-picked peony keep it from getting to be too much. As other reviewers have stated, Poppy Flower is a nice, rather generic fruity-floral that you can reach for and not worry about offending anyone. I was happy to re-discover its (affordable) sweet fruity freshness, and I’m happy to have it back in my fragrance collection. Lovers of 2001-era Pink should definitely give Poppy Flower a try.

This is absolutely my number one all time favourite fragrance! If only it was still being made, at least I think it’s discontinued or was limited edition, I judge the prices on eBay for it that it’s not in large quantities out there. I would give anything to be able to have this again, at a semi-reasonable price. If you are into fresh fragrances, the ones that aren’t total citrus, just a soft freshness that makes you smell clean, you will love this! Every time I have ever worn this I get compliments on how nice I smell. It’s not something groundbreaking, or innovative, it is kind of basic but it’s got that freshness to it that no other perfume can beat! The closest dupes would be DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom, Dior Addict 2 or Juicy Couture Couture LaLa. I could name so many similar perfumes but none will be the same as this. If your vibe is fresh scents than get on this, even though it’s like 300 or more dollars on eBay because I assume it was limited edition or just discontinued, I would give anything to buy it again :(

LITCHI & SHAMPOO Fruity-Floral. Opens with a tropical fruity burst of citrus & litchi with a crunchy green note from ivy, that transitions to a tropical floral heart of peony & waterlily with aquatic, velvety & sweet tones, all resting on a floral support base of musky-sweet woods. Overall I get a tropical fruity-floral with a shampoo & tea vibe in the drydown. Smells like Herbal Essence shampoo. Average or slightly above average performance for a light spring-summer wearing experience. Contrast to Couture La La Malibu Juicy Couture: My first impression of this was that I was smelling Coach Poppy Flower, but this isn't a clone, and Couture La La Malibu leans a little more tropical but without the crunchy green ivy in the opening. A very similar vibe. Overall: Beautiful & classic scent profile with average or slightly above average performance for a light spring-summer wearing experience. Enjoy!

Been sniffing around at this for a while in department stores, and i found a really great deal on the 3.4 ounce perfume plus rollerball duo on ebay, and i jumped at it. I'm sure glad i did because i LOVE this scent, it embodies my personality completley. While it can be a little strong when you first put it on, its amazing and it lingers all day. after about 8 hours i'd say it smells very light almost like a scented lotion. but it still just stays which is nice because after 8 hours you probably dont really want to still smell as if you just sprayed perfume on. i personally like this a lot more than the original coach poppy because its a lot more floral and not so cotton-candyish like poppy. its a great perfume especially for younger women. if your a mom hide this because your kids will want to get into it!
