Coach Poppy Flower

I discovered Poppy Flower on a shelf at Target, shortly after it was launched. Among the usual drugstore-type fragrances on offer, this Target had some testers for higher-end scents that had just come out (this was some years before Target realized the gold mine to be had in beauty products, and beefed up their inventories in the cosmetics and fragrance departments.) I thought the bottle looked cute, so I gave the tester a spritz. Coach Poppy Flower immediately reminded me of my beloved long-discontinued Victoria’s Secret Pink (2001) which I wore in the early 2000’s. Poppy Flower had a strong apple note, which I didn’t remember in Pink, but Poppy Flower did have Pink’s soft citrus fruity-floral sweetness. The two scents have a prominent peony note in common as well. Poppy Flower is not a straight up dupe of 2001 Pink, but it gives off the same fragrance “feeling,” and is the closest scent I’ve found to old original Pink. I put Poppy Flower in my cart along with the kitty litter, fabric softener, etc. I enjoyed wearing Poppy Flower. It was soft and fruity sweet, and had a nice freshness. I worked in customer service, and knew that it would be a “safe” fragrance to wear around a variety of people. Poppy Flower has also been discontinued, but you can find bottles of it for a reasonable price- unlike Pink, which goes for big bucks these days. Recently I picked up a small bottle of Poppy Flower on Ebay. I was disappointed at first spray, and thought I had purchased a fragrance too past its sell-by date. Poppy Flower was never a powerhouse, but this stuff seemed extremely weak. I also remembered it as being sweeter, and fruitier. But after about an hour, and a re-application, I realized the fragrance was fine. It just needed time to develop, and then it was smelling like its old sweet, juicy, vibrant peony self. It lasted a lot longer than I was anticipating, as well, which was nice. Poppy Flower has a lot more notes than Pink, but it doesn’t smell complex. My nose is decidedly an amateur one, and I can’t pick out the individual notes of lychee, or the raspberry, or the apricot or black currant. There’s just a nice fruity “cloud” with a citrus/berry nature that envelops you. Poppy Flower isn’t a big statement fragrance, or a “wow- I’ve never smelled anything like this!” type of scent. But it’s easy to enjoy. I had forgotten how much I liked wearing it. We have been experiencing non-stop 90+ degree weather, and Poppy Flower has proved to be very refreshing during the oppressive heat. A lot of sweeter fragrances are just too much in hot weather. But Poppy Flower’s citrus and freshly-picked peony keep it from getting to be too much. As other reviewers have stated, Poppy Flower is a nice, rather generic fruity-floral that you can reach for and not worry about offending anyone. I was happy to re-discover its (affordable) sweet fruity freshness, and I’m happy to have it back in my fragrance collection. Lovers of 2001-era Pink should definitely give Poppy Flower a try.

This is absolutely my number one all time favourite fragrance! If only it was still being made, at least I think it’s discontinued or was limited edition, I judge the prices on eBay for it that it’s not in large quantities out there. I would give anything to be able to have this again, at a semi-reasonable price. If you are into fresh fragrances, the ones that aren’t total citrus, just a soft freshness that makes you smell clean, you will love this! Every time I have ever worn this I get compliments on how nice I smell. It’s not something groundbreaking, or innovative, it is kind of basic but it’s got that freshness to it that no other perfume can beat! The closest dupes would be DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom, Dior Addict 2 or Juicy Couture Couture LaLa. I could name so many similar perfumes but none will be the same as this. If your vibe is fresh scents than get on this, even though it’s like 300 or more dollars on eBay because I assume it was limited edition or just discontinued, I would give anything to buy it again :(

LITCHI & SHAMPOO Fruity-Floral. Opens with a tropical fruity burst of citrus & litchi with a crunchy green note from ivy, that transitions to a tropical floral heart of peony & waterlily with aquatic, velvety & sweet tones, all resting on a floral support base of musky-sweet woods. Overall I get a tropical fruity-floral with a shampoo & tea vibe in the drydown. Smells like Herbal Essence shampoo. Average or slightly above average performance for a light spring-summer wearing experience. Contrast to Couture La La Malibu Juicy Couture: My first impression of this was that I was smelling Coach Poppy Flower, but this isn't a clone, and Couture La La Malibu leans a little more tropical but without the crunchy green ivy in the opening. A very similar vibe. Overall: Beautiful & classic scent profile with average or slightly above average performance for a light spring-summer wearing experience. Enjoy!

Been sniffing around at this for a while in department stores, and i found a really great deal on the 3.4 ounce perfume plus rollerball duo on ebay, and i jumped at it. I'm sure glad i did because i LOVE this scent, it embodies my personality completley. While it can be a little strong when you first put it on, its amazing and it lingers all day. after about 8 hours i'd say it smells very light almost like a scented lotion. but it still just stays which is nice because after 8 hours you probably dont really want to still smell as if you just sprayed perfume on. i personally like this a lot more than the original coach poppy because its a lot more floral and not so cotton-candyish like poppy. its a great perfume especially for younger women. if your a mom hide this because your kids will want to get into it!

Fruity and floral and not too sweet! This is a very pretty scent. If you are someone who isn't attracted to strong floral or fruit scents you may want to avoid this. I love this, but when I wore it my BF got a terrible breakout! He liked the smell but this may be too strong for some. I also want to add that this is one of those perfumes that can smell totally different depending on where you spray it. I know that can happen in general, but I really noticed it with this one. When I sprayed it on my skin and and air is seemed to be more floral. When I sprayed it on the tester paper it smelled more fruity. I had to walk around with it on to determine if I liked it or not (and hence found out it caused a breakout to my bf). I loved it but caution to those with sensitive skin and/or allergies to try it first

The grapefruit note is very pronounced in the opening. It's a very fresh, juicy grapefruit which I love. The florals and litchi are also very strong in the opening and blend nicely with the grapefruit. It all fades fairly quickly, however, becoming more of a skin scent. I like it for summer or for when I can't decide what to wear. I've never smelled another grapefruit note as good as this one and will probably keep it around just for that reason. As for the comparisons to Be Delicious Fresh Blossom, it's only a passing similarity. BDFB has a powdery note that becomes irritating, where as CPF has zero powder. Also BDFB does not have the same fresh juiciness as CPF. Of the two, CPF is superior.

This is an unusual love for me as I usually do NOT like florals and do NOT like rose scents and this is highly floral. I'm shocked that I like it so much. It's slightly sweet, very floral with just a touch of fruitiness to keep it from being too floral... I guess, I don't know how to describe it except it's unusually nice for a floral and I detect cucumber notes. Some are saying it doesn't last, maybe not on the skin but on my shirt I love that 6 hour after applying it, I can still smell it on myself which is rare cause you usually can't smell it on yourself even if it is long lasting. So anyone who doesn't like floral still may want to give this one a try. I hate florals yet love this one!

Instant love for me! This is a blast of summer in a bottle, it's gorgeous! First spritz is fresh and almost citrusy, but not quite. Poppy Flower lacks that sharp citrus blast which can be overwhelming and bitter in other scents, instead it opens with a soft burst of juicy freshness. This perfume sings and dances with florals bursting forth everywhere! It has a slightly aquatic note which runs throughout the entire performance. This perfume is strong with a large silage and great longevity. It is a pure happiness in a bottle! I'm not one for floral aquatics, but seriously guys, this one is simply lovely and an absolute head turner.

Easily one of my absolute favorite perfumes ever. When you first spritz, it treats you to a freshly cut bouquet of flowers. The dry down is sweet, not unlike its predecessor, but with more floral undertones. I was given the box set for my birthday last year which came with the perfume, as well as a handy, fuchsia makeup bag with Coach written on it, and a fragrance pencil and sharpener for travel. I even use the box it came in for jewelry. Well worth the expense if you crave the joyous aroma of flowers in springtime.

This smells gorgeous if you're looking for an every day scent that is universally pleasing without being synthetic. Is it inventive, no but I'd still have it in my collection today if they didn't stop making it. Light, fresh, mildly fruity floral without being in your face funeral home flowers. This category has a place in my heart but VS Pink and Love Express are no longer available either. Looking forward to Versace Bright Crystal Absolu taking their place.

This smell is so nostalgic for me because my mom used to wear it all the time, so I might be a bit biased when I say that I’m not a floral person, but this one is extremely pleasant to my nose. It’s very fresh, with the floral scents blending together very nicely. If someone walks by me with this on, I always have to turn my head because it’s just too familiar, and I LOVE it.

Wow! Did I spray a perfume or stick my nose into a basket full of flower petals? This perfume smells exactly the same as the local greenhouse in the middle of summer. I've smelled actual wildflowers that aren't as floral as this. My new favorite floral, hands down.

I love this fragrance. It's very subtle and fresh, perfect to wear at the office. It reminds me a little of Clinique Happy In Bloom, which is nice since In Bloom seems to only be sold seasonally and doesn't last as long as Poppy Flower.

I was given a paper sample of Coach Poppy Flower at Sephora and loved it. Then got a small sample spray that same day with my purchase. I love how the fruit and floral scents blend so well together. I must get a bottle!

Myoilperfume.com makes an oil impression of Poppy Flower and the 1 oz. was < $20 so I'm going to blend this with a similar body spray in an empty perfume atomizer bottle to recreate this gorgeous scent.

Stunning fragrance - the fruity notes complement the floral notes beautifully. Much better than the original! Strongly recommended for fruity, floral lovers.

This is a really nice fruity floral. Sweet and light. Very refreshing for a Spring or Summer day. I like it alot because it is very clean smelling.

This was my go-to fragrance in high school. I think this is still a great,classic perfume. Perfect for a teen or someone in their early 20's

Coach Poppy Flower was very light and watery on me, with a very natural, green sweetness that isn't at all sugary or synthetic. It starts off smelling damp and pale, like dewy white petals and crisp green leaves. Wet, but not juicy. As it dries down, it becomes a little less crisp and rather more watery, which I think is the cucumber coming out a bit. At this point, it's more like fresh green leaves with a few white petals scattered along the surface of a pond; very wet, but still with an elegant floral crispness. After about thirty minutes, it gets a bit sharper and much greener, and remains very light, but still discernible. By the time I hit one hour, it was much more sharply green and still quite wet. My overall impression of Poppy Flower is of a clear glass vase, half full of water, with a single freshly-cut, snow white lily in it. It's not the kind of scent I particularly like for myself, but it's the kind of scent that would be lovely to smell wafting off of someone walking by. I get absolutely no rose, berries, or citrus from this. I'm not very good at picking out florals, but to me it seemed to be mostly jasmine mingled with water lily and peony. It is also VERY light on me, after about five to ten minutes, I had to stick my nose right onto my wrist if I wanted a proper sniff. It was definitely still there, but VERY close-wearing. By the time I hit one hour, it was only just barely clinging on; still discernible, but making it's way towards the door with no apologies. Whoops, two hours later, it is GONE. This was a little disappointing, since I actually splashed quite a lot on my skin. My first instinct would be to label this as a spring scent, but I think it would actually work very well (possibly better, depending on your preferences) for winter. It's not as warm or cuddly as most scents I would consider typically "wintery", but the delicacy and natural sweetness of it would make it very wearable for someone who doesn't like very warm or heavy scents. The coolness and sweetness of it make it a lovely spring scent, though, and if it were a little stronger, I would probably call it "refreshing"; however, it's just a little too light for that: more dipping your toes in a fountain than going for a proper swim. I'd say this would be a good gift for somebody who wants something light and unobtrusive, or something that smells quite natural and fresh. Someone who would like something feminine and maybe a little sweet, but doesn't want to smell overtly sexy or outright candied, might also definitely appreciate it. I think it might also work well as an introduction perfume for a young woman who's used to cheaper, more synthetically sweet body sprays, or for someone who typically uses very sweet scents, but needs something a little more mature or subdued. Because of the lack of throw and ridiculously short wear-time, I'd definitely recommend getting a sample before buying a full bottle, just to make sure it works well with your skin chemistry, or possibly requesting a gift receipt if you're buying it for someone else.

add on to my prev review - i have purchased the miniature and have been using it for around 1-2 weeks. the citrus burst at first...reminds me of lime and pomelo. not very sharp but pretty tolerable. after which it transits into a scent that is mostly dominated by light and very very fresh florals. i dun really detect the sandalwood though. to me this is a rather linear scent except for the citrus to floral transition in the initial phase. it is a safe scent. although it falls under the 'floral fruity' category, it doesnt have the typical synthetic fruitiness at all. really smells like fresh watery flowers. no sweetness, just florals, freshness and water. a lovely ozonic floral scent. i can imagine a girl-next-door wearing it. def suitable to be an everyday scent. like i mentioned before..sillage and lasting power can be better. but i believe touching up down the day helps. (:

I've had this perfume in my collection for the past 3 years now. It is a staple because of its freshness and class. I think it's a beautiful perfume, it's more of a skin scent after an hour. My complaint with this perfume is the longevity is poor to moderate and the sillage is strong at first but within 30 min. It sits close to the skin. My husband loves this perfume on me more than i do. He always asks me to wear it when we go out on dates or having a special night at home. It does get alot of compliments even when i can't smell it others do. At first spray there's alot of grapefruit, water lily and peony, cassis and ivy. After 30 minutes i smell rose, litchi,ivy,cassis and though it's not in the notes, cotten musk. The dry down is cotten musk, peony, and some sandlewood. It's very fresh, floral, and lightly fruity. I would recommend this to a friend

I have Coach Poppy, although it smells good, and after going through a large bottle of it... I grew really tired of it. It was a nice purfume, but not one I'd rush to replace. So, when Coach Poppy Flower was introduced, I never had the desire to try it. I got a sample of it when I ordered all my perfumes and I got to say, I definately should have tried it sooner. I coupled it with one of my BBW body sprays and its perfect. It definately smells like a bouquet of flowers, so if you're not into floral/ flower smells, this won't be for you. It's very mild and fresh smelling as well. On me, you have to be close to where it was sprayed to really smell it. It shouldn't give your co-workers a headache. Too bad I can't get it half off anymore, bc this is definately on my list of must-haves!

This is not the typical floral fruity because it doesnt have the sweetness and citrus of 'fruity'. but i am very attracted to its lightness and its watery notes. with the sweetness and citrus that usually makes a scent smell synthetic, coach poppy flower smells like true flowers. not a sillage monster, and it stays close to the skin. it doesnt have a lot of depth but is still pleasant. it would be a safe scent. my fren commented it smells like DKNY be delicious and i have to agree, both scents have very striking water notes that makes it smell pretty green. it is safe to say that this scent would never sicken u down the day, like some of the floral fruity ones out there cos the notes are not sharp. i would hope the sillage can be better (: this is on my 'want' list!

I saw, I went and I tested. These are the words of a perfume enthusiast. One spray was full of sweet flowers, maybe rose the was the center while the hidden honey suckle or jasmine played softly. The black currant was soft enough to leave room for the raspberry and litchi to be sweet and pink but politely girly. No alcohol smell or overpowering sweetness. Very subtle and inviting "Come to your girl(y) side, giggle, type. The amber makes the whole perfume work like silk, nothing cheap about the scent. It's refined, rich and quickly brings a smile to one's face. Scent lasted over 8 hours until 80% dry down. It's beautiful and those who love sweet or powdery scents will love Poppy. Scent 10/10 Staying Power 9/10 P.S I'm buying it! :D

The bottle is very cute, which is probably why I decided to test the perfume in the first place. The first spray was very light, but there definitely is some sweetness and floral elements. The perfume power isn’t strong and takes about a good 4-5 spritzes along the neck and arms for anyone else to be able to detect it, and that’s if they are in close proximity to the wearer. Besides its lack of staying power, the perfume is every bit as cheerful and sweet looking as the bottle design and color. This would make an excellent perfume for someone who doesn’t like strong perfume but loves to stay in touch with their pinker feminine side. Scent 7/10 Staying Power 4/10

This is super green and aquatic on my skin. Predominantly water lily, and I get a lot of ivy with dewdrops. I love green and aquatic scents, but this is just so green and straightforward, it is a little pungent, and my nose gets tired of it. There is a touch of sweetness, but it is not a sugar sweet, just a light tinge of sweetness that keeps the green from being overbearingly bitter. I can see why some people get a cucumber note on their skin, because of how green and watery this smells. I don't get any of the fruit notes listed, or any of the base notes. I like it alright, but after I finish my small bottle and sample vials I wouldn't repurchase it.

I can see how this can easily become someone's signature scent because it's a fresh and clean everyday scent. It's quite uplifting, but this is not my cup of tea. This was my best attempt to try and like flowery scents thinking it would be good since it has some fruit in it, but I still don't like it. For some reason flowery scents make me feel a bit dizzy. I only like flowery scents when they in the background of sweet and fruity scents. If you like absolute flower fragrances, you will probably like this. It's pretty safe. Even I don't hate it. 5/10

Lovely fruity floral, sweet but not too sweet. Definetly smell the peony, and a combo of other things. It comes on strong and didn't want to die down. For some reason it reminds me of a bathroom spray a friend had a number of years ago... so I kept thinking I needed to leave the bathroom lol. Classic and fresh, but too strong for me.... instant headache. One plus is that the smell does not change when you put it on, so if you don't like it on the paper you won't like it on your skin.

A penetrating floral, with a slight taste of fruit. The aroma is rich, powdery, earthy. Florals are tricky, because they don't always translate as "beautiful" or "sexy" the way fruity or sweet fragrances do. Florals are innately sophisticated. But this one is not too complicated, a simple bouquet. It's for a practical, down-to-earth girl, who wants to add an aromatic dimension to a colorful but simple sartorial ensemble.

I'm kind of confused. In some pages the original coach poppy is this pinkish/orange bottle, in other pages, the fucsia bottle is the original coach poppy. Which one is the original and which one is the flower one? One smells exactly like Britney Spears Fantasy, and the other one smells fresher and less diabetic. Could someone please enlighten me? Thank you!

I wear this almost every day as of lately, I have the huge bottle of it that I received as a gift. Unless its a special occasion I'll wear something else. I'm just working my way through the bottle as I'm sick of the clutter. Its crisp/sour AND sweet/fruity/clean and great for summer but nothing special. Hints of sweet pea and honeysuckle.

Went to Ulta and sprayed it on, I was like "Woah this is DKNY Fresh Blossom" sprayed on DKNYFB, could NOT tell the difference. So I suppose I don't have to get it, but the bottle and box is so pretty, I probably will get it even though I have DKNYFB, cause I'm pathetic like that lol.

Yes with Jillzilla re similar to Pleasures. ..Coach also has some nice clean green notes going on. Quite good in my mind. I also do not find the fruity notes in this, although it does have a watery quenching feel, in a sweet way. This would be ideal to wear to a garden party.

It’s a citrusy fruity floral that is a tad sharp in the opening but soon settles into a fresh green floral that’s a bit soapy! I like it for spring and summer. It’s a casual, easy bright scent! It’s more youthful than I typically prefer, but for casual wear it works for me!

This is a great "basic bitch" perfume. It's pretty and pleasing while also being completely generic and inoffensive—it would make en excellent gift because of this. Personally I find it a tad boring but I like it nonetheless.

Very fresh, floral, youthful and clean. Not the most creative scent in the world, but it's pleasant. A little too young smelling for my liking so I doubt I will keep it for long. (If anyone is interested in swapping lmk)

Clean, fresh, makes you feel like you have just taken a shower when you spray it on! It's subtle, but sexy and lasts long, great for a lovely spring day, also a + for the cute bottle design!

Nice, but a little too floral for my taste.

This is not aquatic fruity floral at all, it’s powdery and dry. Not well blended, sort of clash of litchi and sandalwood/amber, notes are just not in harmony to my nose, I’m trying to like it, got 3.4oz bottle, but just can’t get in to it. I guess it’s going for swap or marketplace, will give it one more month .... Hoping it macerates ... OK now after few weeks I have to say it settled and it’s way better. Problem here is I was looking for fresh aquatic fruity floral and I got green powdery white floral, there is literally zero fruity notes. Sweetness is more amber, which combine with ivy is like very sweet mint... not exactly but can’t find anything similar. It’s not bad frag but don’t blind buy. After all I like it, best part is you can’t overspray this one, and in the morning when I spray my self my hubby doesn’t do any drama, actually sometimes I spray littlebit before bedtime, which is forbidden (my husband has low tolerance for perfumes🙄) also it’s great for car ride (spraying perfume right before car ride with hubby is also risky😬). Although it has such a weak opening, it stays whole day and on the clothes until I wash it. Because of this weak opening I grab it very often, I wouldn’t buy it again but wouldn’t resell it under price. Annnnd I really like it after all. EDIT 12/7/24 I drop it on the floor, it got broken and it’s finely gone, would not repurchase, it has weird green note. Don’t blind buy.

This was one of my first perfumes when I was in my teens. I remember taking a photo of this with my first French tips 🤣 Anyway I’ve had that same bottle the last 15 years. This perfume is eughlglgkgjhk at first spray. I HATE this type of floral. It is so SCREECHY hence why I still have the bottle. I’m gonna use it for my wedding or something because while it is still screechy, there’s something elegant about it. I’m just more of a gourmand girl. One spray is enough! Edit: after letting it sit on my skin for 10 hours, it smells nice lol. So my verdict is: this is an ok perfume.

Sugary fruity floral, perfectly inoffensive as other reviewers state. Very office friendly. Youthful, but I don't think you need to be young to wear it. Sweet, clean, girly.
