Hydra (Ilias Ermenidis)

Wow!!! Accidentally tested this (the sales rep made me test it, first time they were actually extremely useful, I would not have tested this otherwise). So this is almost the same scent as GIVENCHY OBLIQUE FAST FORWARD, Ilias E. And Alberto Morillas created that one in 2000 and this is Ilias E. alone. Totally no coincidence, haha. So this is a breezy, light scent with a hint of melon/watermelon (not overwhelming at all), lovely, unique, adorable fragrance and I am over the moon I could buy and smell this scent again. I loved Oblique ffwd and missed it greatly and never knew there was a perfume launched in 2022 that is the same (to my nose). Love.

Omg!!! Hydra in a bottle! Hydra is a small Greek island and this it! If we start from the bottle which is STUNNING!! Beautiful, unique, rich, gorgeous in every way!! Can’t compare it with anything you’ve seen. Stunning for a gift, present of yourself to showcase on your dresser. The perfume is refreshing and aquatic a stunner for hot summer months. Very similar to Escada Into the Blue, which is discontinued. The perfumes cools you down by mentally transporting you to the beach. One of the BEST summer perfumes, if not THE best!! Get it, it’s a stunner all around!! 11/10

Unique fragrance, really well balanced and calssy

Salt, seaweed, watermelon. That’s exactly how it opens. It smells like a cocktail: there’s even a refreshing quality to it. Then, gradually, a green vibe begins to emerge. I’d describe it as seaweed-like, accompanied by flowers. Clean flowers, yes; fresh and crisp. I’ve looked through the listed notes, and interestingly, there’s neither seaweed nor salt officially mentioned, but I can definitely pick them up. To me, Hydra perfectly captures a Mediterranean vibe. Fittingly, it’s named after an island in the Aegean Sea. I’d call it a floral marine fragrance. As the scent develops, the note I identify as seaweed becomes more prominent. It’s something quite green, evoking the smell of the sea. Far from your average marine scent; this one feels unique. I liked it.

I got a sample of this in a swap. This isn’t one to write home about, but it’s nice. It opens quite green and fruity. Then the florals enter smoothly. The jasmine isn’t sharp and will probably be well tolerated by most. There is an aquatic air about the fragrance and it absolutely wears as a fresh spring / summer fragrance. The mint isn’t harsh and does not come across as a mint julep or Mojito. It just lends itself to the greatness of the fragrance. Overall, it’s not overly exciting, and definitely could be found for a cheaper price point from a different house. I imagine someone wearing white during the warmer months wearing this fragrance. It is a nicely done unisex perfume, but not a must have in my collection.

My husband hates this on me and i dont know why. This is eating watermelon by the sea, i detect a little bit of cucumber and citrus too.

A common scent profile. Fresh, watery, airy scent with prominent influence from the green melon rind accord. Maybe a slight petrichor effect. Nice, but relatively unremarkable. It Might be similar to a few of Hermès' Un Jardin series scents with their muted "watercolor" vibe, except with a bit better performance with Hydra. This is not unique enough to stand out for me. It even has a comparison vote to Maison Martin Margiela's Replica Sailing Day, a very basic aquatic. Hydra does have a significant aquatic accord, but I don't detect much marine accord. Just a bit of floral, and a hint of salt. For Hydra to make an impression on me, it would have to push the likes of Creed EROLFA and Roja Oceania. It doesn't. The best of the line so far remains Positano, which is good enough for me to buy a full bottle. And these beautiful, substantial, heavy bottles are a selling point in and of themselves.

So refreshing and unique, with a watermelon accord that I’ve never smelled anywhere else. Incredible. I’d say this is among the best Contes has to offer currently and is something quite different where many of the others heavily reminded me of other frags I’ve smelled elsewhere. For summer this is a staple and I can say I’ll be buying it without a doubt, that watermelon and mint combo is stunning. I liked it when I first sprayed it, but coming back to it after a few minutes it smelled even better and sold itself easily. Of course the bottle presentation is gorgeous and so eye-catching, I will update after giving it more wear time.

Dry, very salty and sporty. Bergamot, galbanum and ambroxan. Don't seem to understand what this house wants to do with their scents. You can find a thousand of these on your regular designer shelf.
