Catharsis

Catharsis is an interesting and intense perfume produced By coreterno. The opening is very powerful, harsh and even a bit sinthetic but to the dry down the perfume becomes much more weareable and pleasant. The base of the perfume is the tipical rose/oud/leather perfume but, in this case, I find original aspects which makes this fragrance a special one. First of all the presence os the spices: powdery saffron, intense cloves and spicy nutmeg, giving a spicy vibe very interesting. Then the floral freshness of the neroli and the alcoholic feeling of the whisky, mixed with the floral & sweet character of the ylang. All this together creates an interesting atmosphere close to the one created by the door by dl roelen, but a bit less animalic and strong. I find It totally unisex, more for cold temperaturas, probably for night in winter, fall and firt months of sprint. To sum Up catharsis is an intense and powerful perfume original and intense but keep on the rose oud líne which is on trend nowadays. Love from first sniff! Elegant, sexy, mysterious.

Like with other Coreterno fragrances that I have worn so far, the opening is a sharp whirlwind of notes that first need to settle. To me, the saffron and rose notes are the stars of Catharsis. Unfortunately, they already start fading away after around 10 minutes while the fragrance slowly morphs into a powdery skin scent.

The cloves are a bit harsh at first, but it calms down into something interesting and a little sweet without being too complex. One of those scents you kind of have to live up to. Very strictly unisex. Carries a feeling of power. Can definitely recommend.

I am a big fan of Coreterno. All their fragrances have a special place in my heart. I also love the aesthetic of the bottles! I wanted Catharsis to be special, cause I really like the name. It is spicy and incense-y rather than boozy, despite whiskey being listed. The opening smells like and incense shop, a spicy mix of nutmeg and geranium. I get a smooth note of geranium from the very beginning, which in here is quite lovely - far from the organic shop geranium oil smell. The florals only play a supporting role, so neither neroli nor jasmine are detectable, they play in the background to make the experience rounder and softer. If I had to compare it to something, it would be a piece of bottle green velvet fabric. Or a soft cashmere sweater. It's never loud, but very soft in its spiciness. In comparison, Rose and Me as well as Hierba Nera are more smokey - Catharsis is much more spicy.

Garage metal shop–pleasantly sour earthy concrete, metallic dust with the smoke of flash sparks from a grinder, tools with wood handles that warm up with use–and spiced gumdrops. Nice. Leans to the calloused fingertips end of unisex. Lasts longer and louder on clothes than on skin, and makes one nostalgic for clove cigarettes.

Now that's a statement fragrance. It's weird bit it's giving me Portrait of Lady+ The One D&G vibe. It's vibrant, energizing and powerful. Neroli, geranium, jasmine...and for sure there must be a rose too, even though it's not listed in the pyramid. Club and date worthy. A strong like.
