Fatale

Luckily got this beautiful Floral Oriental EDT (might be EDP) on a no competitor existing auction for ¥980 ($10), currently, none on eBay. The name 'FATALE' immediately reminded me of the scariest sensational movie of my life, the 'FATAL ATTRACTION (1987)'. This gem was launched the next year. That movie was about an affair between Michael Douglas and the real bunny boiling craziest Glenn Close. Yes, they really boiled alive bunny for that scene!! I wondered, how I never heard about this fragrance, then I realized I was also in a love turmoil myself. . . hahaha. Upon arrival, I sprayed it on a tenderly soft tissue especially sold for pollen allergy season. Great that I didn't spray it on my clothes, it lightly stains. I was expecting an animalistic dark scent from the beginning but on a tissue, it gave me very feminine, soft, rather charming feel throughout 4 hours. On the other hand, on my wrist, it was a bit sticky and thick, and I could smell the musk, oak moss and amber underneath jasmin, narcissus, tuberose and spice for 3.5 hours. The two falling golden maple leaves on the bottle remind me of autumn season but it's not too offensive so, I will wear more until summer and see how it goes.

This was one of my favorite perfumes in my younger days that provided me many compliments from friends, strangers, cab drivers, hairdresser and like... I guess I am (was) compatible with white floral-spicy. I don't find it as overwhelming or too over the top, simply nice feminine Floral-Oriental. It was a very reasonably priced perfume then and I was lucky at that time in terms of my beauty budget. Besides other 80's Floral-Oriental, Narcissus and Green are nicely blended in it so that it was not too heavy? That might be a reason I still really like it.

Well, this one is a little gem and no mistake! I've just received a 15ml, hardly used bottle, in its box, bought for pennies on ebay. And I'm delighted! It certianly has that 80s, everything-going-on vibe. It's a warm, sweet, ambery floral. Very much an evening fragr I think. Powerful for an EdT. If you like old-style floral-orientals, this is for you.

It smells like a generic 80s women's perfume: soft, powdery, clean, feminine.

Based only upon the era and the packaging, I have a yearning to smell this overlooked drugstore beauty. One wonders if it could have become a classic had the 80's not been so overloaded with new fragrances? Certainly that happened to other drugstore beauties such as Raffinee, but at least they can be FOUND today. Yes, they likely just resemble their 80's splendour, but we aren't completely in the dark! Fatale has the name and the wrappings of a siren ~ and it's still singing it's alluring song to me. I will try not to envy those of you who smelled this now - vanished mystery.....
