Black Absinthe

Definitely getting the spicy/sweet and vetivert. It didn't convey "absinthe" to me, but more of a high-end men's cologne. It's very nice but I'm disappointed that the fennel, licorice, and anise aren't more prominent. Great lasting power! The small bit on my wrist has withstood two washings with soap thus far and is still developing. It seems like it gets sweeter, then spicier the longer it's on - but it hasn't dropped off into vanilla-bomb territory, thankfully! It still smells "mannish" to my nose. Still spicy with hints of smokiness. This is a splash-type bottle, but I kinda think they should have went with a sprayer. It's pretty heavy and I think a way to get a lighter, more even distribution would have been better because I can see this becoming overwhelming in warm temperatures. Edit: This is a grow-er, not a show-er! Damn, it is STRONG. They really should have put a sprayer on this so you can do the mist-and-dash application. I got this for a friend (and to review, heehee!) but hoping it's not going to overwhelm him.

Have been on a hunt for a good absinthe scent beyond By Kilian's Taste of Heaven or Amouage's Memoir Man but seems like such a thing does not have exist. It was on this pretext that I tried Black Absinthe - please try on skin and do not blind buy. On skin, all I smelled was a Tonka Bomb (which is listed in the note write-up in stores but not on Fragrantica) and for that it was a total scrubber. On scent strip I got the absinthe though... So do try on skin before deciding on this.
