Original Vetiver 2024

Creed Week Day 2: This one is very underrated. I'm a big fan of vetiver scents. If I would create a fresh daily summertime fragrance, it would pose a lot of similarities to this one. The scent is herbal-aromatic with a slight citrusy top accord, aswell as woody and earthy undertones that become more prominent over time. It's fresh, it's clean, it's timeless. Completely unisex too. I consider this the polar opposite to "Milesime Imperial" along the axis of vacation scents. Instead of fruity saltiness of the beach found in MI, this is the luxury hotel with a wide range of spa procedures. This scent's performance is dragging it down. It has a rather short sillage unless you spray a lot (I only have 1ml of this left, so I am not wasting it on a full heavy spray routine), and the longevity could be better (but by far not the worst). At this price range, more can be expected in that regard. It makes up for it with high quality ingredients and great blending, which is typical for Creed. As with most expensive scents, it is not entirely blind buy safe. I like it quite a bit. 8.5/10

Bright uplifting lemon tea and ginger in the nicest most therapeutic way possible. Have had this for a few months now and love wearing it as a versatile daily driver in warmer weather. That said this could probably be worn anywhere, any time, any occasion and you will smell fresh and clean. This scent makes me feel invigorated and is one of my happy scents. Lasts about 6 hours if I spray on clothes and skin but could be nose blindness. Still pretty good for a fresh natural smelling scent. 9/10

I don't understand why the rating for this version is so much lower. I bought a bottle of the new Original Vetiver because I only had about 20 ml left of the old version. Although some of the ingredients listed in the notes are different (which might be considered as a cost-cutting measure), my nose isn't that professional or trained. To me, this version smells about 95% identical to the old one. The new version is just slightly greener, with a bit more of a fresh grassy character.

I can't get this one out of my mind. This is a true green fragrance. Beautiful green notes, ginger, vetiver and the musk bringing it home. Phenomenal job by Creed. This very well maybe my first Creed fragrance I buy in a full bottle. I have a decant of Aventus that was gifted to me, but this might very well be the one I go full bottle with. 10/10. I'm dressing up when I'm putting this on. This is so fresh and classy man, what a masterpiece

don't be mislead by the name, i disliked earthy vetiver smell, but this is a fresh linen with a touch of sweetness and not in a hot iron dry linen kind of way like dior homme sport or sedley, i would put this in the same vibe as percival and imagination kind of fresh, 25s to late 30s guy go to frag

Probably most would disagree but to me the opening really reminds me of PDM Greenley because it hits you straight away with that green sharpness out of the bottle, almost acidic and intoxicating but quickly turns into a lovely fresh grass scent that I can only wish it lasted a bit longer.

Love this fragrance just wished it last longer😒

8.4/10. It's fresh cut grass but masculine and refined. If you like that barber scent plus green grass and a little spice this is your scent. This just isn't my profile, although I do like it better than PDM Sedley which it reminds me of. It's less intrusive and more rounded and appealing. Wouldn't blind buy, last 3-4 hours on skin. Avg performance

I smelled this one and the previous bottle side by side and it's not even close. Good decision to list it as a new fragrence. Edit: to elaborate, I bought two bottles when the new bottle came out, manufactured about a year apart. Opened at the same time. The old bottle had a depth and complexity the new bottle, to my nose, did not have. It was still a decent fragrence. But to me there was no doubt they are different. Unless it’s explained by the notorious Creed batch variations. Anyway, I kept the old bottle and sold the new. To most people it will smell the same-ish, but if you can get your hands on an old bottle I would recommend it.

the image that comes to mind when i smell this is a cheap, generic, and old bar soap that’s starting to lose its fragrance. kinda like a really old irish spring soap. i hated this at first but just took it for what it is. now i kinda like it. it gets nice in the dry down but the longevity is terrible and it barely projects.

Wonderful scent however no performance at all. Its not good enough to search for an older bottle that might perform. Its very masculine right in line with Viking and BdP.

I am new to all this. I have found the I like some classic vetiver scents, but, to me, this one just reminded me of your average cologne counter in an average department store. Nothing stood out to me. Nothing there to make me stand up and take notice.

This gives me an insane headache after a couple of hours, very medicinal and bitter. I just can't bring myself to like it although I really wanted to.

The fragrance opens up beautifully. Reminds me of something between Sedley and Cedrat Boise. But! This thing became a skin scent within 10 minutes and was completely gone within 2 hours even when it was applied to my shirt. For the hundreds of dollars this thing costs, I expect more.

The old version was good with great silage and longevity. This is like a cheap (but really isn’t) copy that doesn’t last. I’m thoroughly disappointed.

I know people are saying it smells exactly the same. While it still smells "like" Original Vétiver in the general sense, yet to my nose it is quite discernably missing some complexity and nuance from the previous version. Also again (reference to my review I deleted when they first posted this) what's up with the new note breakdown down? The clear differences between note list i.e no bergamot, mandarin, iris, or sandalwood or "ambergris" mentioned here with the addition of new notes. Is it just another marketing ploy? I dont think so, the smell to me suggest some..I wont use that other word, so let's say.. re-working. OV's overall profile and feel was so simple to begin with that any change would impact it's nuance. Which, though being a freshie, the interplay between the notes is where its sense of depth lived. For example, the powdery, woody smoothness the iris and Sandalwood gave it..where is it? While the overall gist remains, this one smelled slightly greener and somehow flattened and less dimensional. Given the reviews prasied here I expect mine to garner downvotes, but it honestly does smell a little different to me.

Forget about vetiver. The name is very misleading. If I would rename this perfume, it would be: Original coriander . Here are my random first impressions: coriander, fresh, faint floral undertones, light, soapy, powdery, soft spicy, vaguely green (but I still wouldn't really call this a very green fragrance), classical yet modern, elegant, high resolution. It's really good. I get the barbershop-reference, but it's more of an element, it doesn't define the composition overall. I'm surprised no one mentioned Coriander by DS Durga, since I think they have a lot in common. If this perfume would actually remain within the time it takes for you to get to work, it would without doubt be office-friendly. Sadly, it doesn't. I'm not the kind of person who prioritise performance excessively, but this is unfortunately not acceptable. The perfume itself is quite beautiful, but within just one-two hours it has faded so much it’s barely there. No matter how good this perfume is, it's just not worth it.

This is another splendid release and or rerelease of superb juice. As I concur with a reviewer below on the “instant connection to used Irish Spring Bar Soap”; that is that! It is not necessarily negative or positive. It just is! Now on how to wear this masterpiece to an elevated potential, one must get through the irony of poor longevity of some fragrant elixirs as such. I have developed an optimal use of this when paired as followed: 1. SOLO - not pairing, just pure ownership of craftsmanship - JUST ADD YOU! 2. Base clean and showered skin(Irish Spring to make a statement) with “CLEAN: PURE SOAP”rollerball oil and then spritz this beast on desired areas of attention. 3. Spray this Creed intoxicant on desired areas of attention, then lightly dabble CLEAN: PURE SOAP oil behind ears on on wrists, then spritz layer JHAG NOT A PARFUM on neck! This is effective if all elemental potions are in possession! Like and thank me later...

My wife uses Vetiver hand lotion by Elizabeth W and it's an incredibly comforting and surprisingly complex scent. After smelling that hand lotion for years I thought I loved vetiver until I bought Creed Original Vetiver and TDH Vetiver. I'm now realizing that Vetiver is only something I enjoy if it's very subtle and wallowing in the background. In Creed Original Vetiver the vetiver scent is very much in the foreground along with a heavy dose of cypress, which gives it a more mature, slightly medicinal vibe. This is probably my least favorite Creed scent and by far the most simple in terms of scent notes.

This reminds me of Creed Pure White Cologne, but it’s a bit more rugged. It’s unisex, but I think a man could pull it off better. I dislike the deodorant smell, so I’m not a super fan. It has something in it that reminds me of cat piss, thankfully, it’s very faint. You’d have to sniff it close and hard to notice, but aside from that, I think it’s a lovely spring and summer scent—bright and happy. A man would get tons of compliments wearing it.

This fragrance has only been rebottled, not reformulated- at least not to the extent that the note breakdown or reviews should be any different from the original. This shouldn't even be added as a new fragrance, the image should simply be updated to reflect the new bottle design on the original 2004 release page. How ridiculous

Creed was such a nice house before the switch to 50ml and 100ml bottles...it had a signature style and accord. Now they dont know what to be anymore. Looks like focus is on redesign rather than quality of fragrance.

This is disappointing. So if I like the decant of original Vetiver that I just ordered, I might not want to buy a big bottle in case I end up with this stuff, which is apparently completely different.

I’m so happy I purchased a 2015 batch of this with the 4.0 oz bottle. Why is the new ownership of Creed doing this ? To save cost with watering down the finest ingredients into mediocre ones maybe

At first the vetiver hit my nose and I felt like I was in the woods. But then a sweetness came along with a flower lime. It smells very similar kaffir lime leaves.

To guys from Kering: Stop what you are doing or i will sell all my Kering shares. Bring back the quality and beauty to Creed. This bottle is ugly

This is amazing ! Not your tipical raw/earthy VETIVER fragrance. No. This is fresh cut grass smell i love it so soft scent of splashed nature
