Sasora

Zen in a tiny bottle. This incredibly healing potion which is actually a natural Citrus Oud is almost monastic in its disposition. Composed of a central note of incredibly rare and difficult to distill kyara agarwood, the perfumer surrounds it with notes of camphor, lemon, rosewood and jatamansi. The overall feeling that is experienced is austere and minimal beauty. The Japanese agarwood which DI SER uses for its composition has no animalic qualities at all. It is radiant, warm and spare. This one is an incredible composition because its rare, natural and justifiably expensive beauty lies in its utter simplicity. Recommended as a potion to heal troubled minds and for use in meditation and other types of spiritual transportation. Incredible, spare, austere, and transportive. Peace and joy!

The opening of this fragrance is very unconventional and intriguing with a sweet and sour yuzu, wild herbs and a bit of pleasant barn quality. eventually the notes meld together and form a citrusy, green, woody hum that seems to increase in oudiness throughout the wear. Much like all the other creations by Di Ser, its beauty lies in its quality ingredients and its wonderful uniqueness. The more I wear these, the more I fall in love with them.

Sasora is a fragrant wood that is used in incense burning. This fragrance is supposed to be the one that expresses the most traditional Japanese « Kōdō » values among the samples I had. I have never smelled something similar to this. It opens with a surprising tiger balm vibe that dries down to an herbal, oudy composition. At this stage I got a mouth watering note of roasted veal with rosemary, garlic and pepper mint on top of it. I know it’s sounds crazy but it is what came on my mind.😁 Then the dry down became woodsy, relaxing and spiritual.⛩🧘🏽♂️🧘🏽♂️🧘🏽♂️⛩ This scent is really special, unique, medicinal, spiritual and strangely addictive.😊 100% niche!

Good grief the opening is hard to take. Green and herbal and lots of camphor. There's also a funky almost fecal smell. Like a dirty barn with animals in it. Fortunately it settles pretty quickly - within half an hour... into a really lovely incense wood and some of that yuzu - light. I am enjoying this dried down - it's calming and nicely balanced. The wood is particularly nice - not dry but instead super warm and pretty and a bit unusual. But the price point... yikes... glad I got to try with the random sample LuckyScent included on a recent order.

Opens with an extremely funky/barnyardy kick that rapidly dissipates before the yuzu, camphor and the uncanny scent of burnt kyara take over. The kyara stays at the forefront while softening into a citrusy herbal wood scent.

Interestingly, the opening gives the impression of Tiger Balm (camphor & menthol) with a hint of garlic and curry—so savory & spicy that didn't feel befitting to a perfume. I sprayed it on my skin with skepticism and I'm glad I did because it transformed into something ethereal, but I'd never choose it over the masterpiece Kyara, especially after realizing that they're the same price! (Shocking)

Least favourite of the 4 samples I had. This has a nice bit of green notes in it and some nice bright citrus lifted by the caphor, but the jatamansi gives off a rotten lavender vibe and it just doesn’t work for me, its somewhat unpleasant.

I rarely review anymore. Just not much for words. However, this is by far my favorite perfume. I have had quite a few people smell this, out of curiosity, who do not pick up the jatamansi. Added to the agarwood base, it can be a sour combo. Sasora wood, historically has a sour smell. This perfume, from my understanding is inspired by the smell of a traditional house, stained with incense, kyara, over generations. It's bright and uplifting, I love the sour open. It hits my brain with a power unlike any other. It's not for everyone, like my friend below said unconventional. The cost is relative to the ingredients, not how mass pleasing it is. This to me feels like hanging around a shrine outside of Kyoto, incense burning, gardens all around, fresh citrus fruits growing and falling around you. It's perfect (to me) in every sense. I can passionately say, I am unsure I will come across a perfume I love more. Anyway just spitting some biased and positive love, as I find the below reviews a tad surprising

Those with connections can get this far cheaper than retail. After getting this at the fraction of the price, I end up selling it because it wasn't even worth $300, let alone the $900 asking point. Opens up so messy with plenty of burning incense sticks. When I mean messy, I mean it's just dusty, woody with Christmas candles and menthol, from the Camphor, that has no direction. The dry-down gets better which focuses more on the burning incense, but guys, take my advice and just skip this. Big failure from this house. Take the advice from someone's comment down below and just buy Tiger Balm since that was something I was questioned at while at work multiple times when I was wearing Sasora.

Sasora makes its entrance with a burst of very sweet citrus and an unorthodox herbal funk, quite a notable opening. My initial reaction was that this is too sweet and herbal for me. However, the sweetness and pang of the yuzu soften after 15 minutes into a much more pleasant aroma, leaving a nice tanginess behind, and the funk is gone. The camphor and herbal notes have nuances of spearmint. After 30 minutes Sasora softens into a closer skin scent - harmonic and lovely. Although not the style I usually wear, this was an interesting experience. Sasora is sweet and fresh with a piercing opening, rendered by the combination of yuzu and rosewood. I can see myself wearing this again.

One of my favourite Di Ser fragrances. Opens up with a very unique camphorous vibe, almost like a classy tiger balm (which is very good according to my taste). This dries down to a herbal, oud and rosewood fragrance that make me think of a traditional Japanese house or a zen temple. The smell is green and woody with slight touch of rose probably from the rosewood. It has a calming and introvert affect on me. It is not pretentious and «parfumery», but rather natural and down to earth. Like several of the other offerings from Di Ser, I think Sasora has spiritual properties. It affect me in particular ways, and that is what parfumery is all about for me. 10/10

The openng is very strong on the green herbal side. Off-putting and nose piercing because it does indeed give off that tiger balm vibe. A sharp mix that smells like raw garlic, vinegar and ginger were mixed together. But this is just the opening. Wait 20-30 minutes and it settles down to a Yuzu and Woody/oudy scent. Quite pleasant and a safe wear once you get past that opening stage. Not worth the price though. It's nice, but we're talking the same price range as Di Ser's Kyara. You pay for the amount of Kyara oud used in here because of how expensive it is, not the overall composition.

quite a funky-messy start, but it dies down to a really dusty-woody scent a few hours in. kinda reminds me of the short, ceremonial sandalwood incense sticks you can get in buddhist stores in japan. I've bought a whole heap of these over the years, because I love how the box smells, but, you know, I've never actually 'burnt' them! that's what this smells like; unburnt, Japanese Buddhist sandalwood sticks...
